  1. Can't help but wonder if Miller's return this week (instead of waiting a little while longer) has anything to do with Groot and the foot injury.

Always kinda weird when you have these injuries pop up during week with guys that finished the previous game... but he has been a DNP all week... and now I am wondering if he is going to play at all in London.

If you don't think that not having Tre White in a playoff game won't affect the outcome, you might want to give yourself a jab in the ribs while you're at it.

Not sure if this was updated after today's game, but I did find it interesting that Tre White has actually been targeted more than Benford so far this season.  Thought it would be the other way around.  White has given up 9 receptions on 14 targets.  Benford only 4 catches on 8 targets.   So Benford was actually being targeted less than White?  Found that interesting.

The whining about injuries gets old.

Diggs on Dallas went down, Rodgers went down, Jalen Ramsey, Burrow isn't healthy.  QB Derick Carr, QB Watson , QB Jimmy G, etc... Miami's Philips their best pass rusher was out. Their best tackle Armstend went out today.

There will be more to come. It's part of the game.

I just don't like the crying about injuries. The Bills have been very fortunate not to have Allen seriously hurt.

Yeah, I get it, because I don't like it either.  Today, I felt worse about White as an individual than the future of the Bills.  But... I did not come here to "whine" about injuries, but rather, to point out that the quote that was posted by someone else regarding Kansas City Chiefs had some merit, oddly enough, because KC has been relatively fortunate injury-wise, compared to vast majority of the NFL.  It is not a complaint; just an observation.  The subject has come up at times when I'm talking about football with my buddies (and for the record, I do not live in or near Buffalo, where the KC hatred runs deep, I live on the west coast).  When the playoffs come around, they just seem to be relatively healthy in contrast with their opponents, every time I can recall.  They may have had some injuries prior to that, but when it matters most, the key players seem to be available.  Just an observation.  Nothing to do with Buffalo or our misfortune; I definitely never said anything about that in this thread.

Mahomes played on one leg in the playoffs and Super Bowl.

During the playoff game vs Buffalo the honey badger was out. That injury was very likely a good reason why Gabe went off.

Chris Jones has been hurt a plenty.

    Your claim is inaccurate.

but he PLAYED, right? In the Super Bowl. I am talking about guys that did NOT play.  His ankle injury was practically a non-factor anyway due to Chiefs completely dominating at the LOS.  Oh, not to mention, didn’t they ice the Cinci game on… a Mahomes scramble?

Chris Jones, they had him when it mattered most. He basically played the role that we expected from Von Miller in last season’s playoffs. KC does not get past the Bengals without CJ.

I’ll give you Honey Badger, but that’s about it.

    Real classy and illogical.

sadly there is some truth to that. It is true the Chiefs never seem to have these devastating injuries. They have injuries during the course of the season but get the players back for the playoffs when it matters most.  Nothing worse than a season ending injury, and Chiefs truly do not get a lot of those to key players.

  6. If our pass rush continues to be among the best in the NFL, it will make the DBs jobs a lot easier, no matter who is back there.  Personally, I don't think it's a "devastating blow" to the Bills, necessarily, this defense has been successful without Tre in the past and this is nothing new, but this injury still takes a LOT away from how I would normally feel coming off a big win like this only because I feel terrible for Tre as a person and just having to watch him go through that today.  That is what hurts, more than anything else.  As far as the defense, yeah they lost something, but it's no it's not "season altering".  No team ends up being able to field its "best" defense by the end of the year anyway.  We were extremely fortunate injury wise through 3 weeks and something was bound to happen.  Just hope this doesn't continue to be a trend.

  7. Called An L Week 1
    Then W In Week 2 And 3
    Think Another L

    (😔)

I know, I know.  It's a downer, dislikes coming, I get it.  I sincerely hope my "Bills Pick 'Em" streak ends on Week 4, too.  Just not liking the matchup.  I mean, who does match up well against McDaniel's system and the collective speed on that offense right now anyway?

  8. 76.9% ... Not too shabby ... and to think what it might have been if he didn't start forcing passes halfway through the 3rd quarter against the Jets (read somewhere he was completing 81% prior to the 2nd interception)

Anyway, that was pretty cool to see, so I thought I'd share.

Hopefully we can keep it up with this style of offense, minus the occasional (and easily avoidable) forced throw into double coverage.

I think it also speaks to the absence of dropped passes through 2 games this season.  I think Knox is the only player I've seen with a couple drops so far.

  9. In week 1, I expected a Bills loss (but I also thought we would be up against Rodgers).

in week 2, it’s one of the rare instances in which I expect a Bills win because I believe we match up well against the Raiders, I believe there will be a positive impact from week 1 and I believe west coast teams very often struggle in east coast games.

having said all of that, is anyone else surprised by the fact that we are up to 9.5 point favorites and tied for the heaviest favorites in the NFL this week?

You’d think we were coming off a clean win vs Jets and playing the Cardinals.

When things get too mental with him, he should just start running his ass off.  Not this indecisive running but really taking off.  injuries be damned.  He’s at his best doing two things, throwing on the run and scrambling with conviction.

funny thing is I think that was the plan on the 1st and 10 fumble right after bills took over following jets TD to tie the game. Looked like a designed run, but by that time the sugar high was peaking and he botched the snap, recovered it and lost it again!

its just weird how lately when things start to unravel with Allen, the unraveling begins at a time when he is playing well and we actually have control of the game, but then he will keep unraveling until we have inexplicably lost our lead altogether and only THEN end does he seem to snap out of it,

  11. It's interesting because, from 2018 to 2021 specifically, in Daboll's offense, when Josh had a game where he would make a certain costly mistake, you would generally see him really learn from it and make a point to not letting it happen again in the near future.  When we would see these mistakes reoccur, it was usually some weeks later.  This is one of the things I loved about him; this was the evidence of his growth that was unlike any QB prospect I had ever seen.  The guy LEARNED FROM HIS MISTAKES!!!  And he got better and better and better .... But only up until a certain point, and incidentally, that point is around the time that Dorsey took over play-calling.   Now, personally I have not ready to blame Dorsey just yet because it really looks like a lot of Allen's mistakes are just reckless personal decisions, but at the same time you can't ignore the fact that this regression started to happen after Daboll left.  Is it coincidental?  I don't know.  I just know earlier in his career, he would rarely make the same mistake twice and now he is.  Repeatedly.  It's mind boggling because these are CORRECTABLE issues.  Often times he will be playing very well for stretches and then just suddenly have a brain fart and make an inexcusable play and the defense is taking full advantage (i.e. he hasn't been getting "breaks" lately in the form of dropped picks or recovering his own fumbles).   Now, having said all of this, I still go back to the fact that yesterday in particular was nothing new when it comes to the Jets; they ARE a problem for him and they were a problem for him before yesterday, but with this "new" Josh Allen it's frustrating that even in his "good" games there are ALWAYS 1 or 2 brain fart interceptions.  Why can't he just play a FULL game without these few isolated bizarre decisions?  because honestly, everything else looked PRETTY GOOD to me!  When he was taking what the defense was giving him, he was 9 for 10, moving the chains against a great defense, and it was working!  When he threw that first interception, he had 10+ yards of daylight in front of him?  Doesn't Josh Allen LOVE to run!?!?  The one time we WANT him to run, he doesn't!?  MAN, it's almost like he doesn't want to run if it doesn't look like it is going to entail running into traffic and attempting to bicycle kick 2 LBs.  It's just infuriating to think about lol..which is why this turned into a rant. Sorry.

  12. I am honestly surprised by how many fans have given up on Allen after this game. I would never consider myself one of the more optimistic fans. In fact, I had the Bills losing this game (granted, with Rodgers at QB) and it was mainly because of how poorly we match up against the Jets. Matchups are everything in this league. Look at the Browns, who have annihilated the Bengals twice in a row now, but can’t seem to do that to anyone else. Meanwhile the Bengals look like a completely different team against the rest of the NFL. It’s like that for us with the Jets, for whatever reason, but what I am saying is this is actually NOTHING NEW against the Jets.  Something about their scheme, their team speed on defense and the fact they are able to generate more pressure than the vast majority of defenses we face has always rattled Allen and forces him into bad decisions.

There have also been plenty of games where Allen has made as many bad throws (unfortunately) it just so happens this time all three of his bad throws were picked off as opposed to dropped, batted down, etc.

There is no doubt this is becoming a sickening trend, but again, I go back to the fact that all 3 of Allen’s least productive games as a QB dating back to last season, have been against the Jets. This is nothing new and the sky certainly isn’t going to be falling after week 1. I am not sure if I can realistically say , but I am feel pretty confident that he is going to play a hell of a lot better than he did against the Jets in the coming weeks.

Here is the silver lining. Allen did seem a little too “chill” to me this off-season, but this game definitely got to him. Hopefully it’s the wake-up call he needed. Also, we still have our starting QB and we didn’t lose anyone to injury in what was a very physical game. That’s a major plus.

  13. I have to admit, as ***** as tonight was, wouldn't you much rather be the Bills right about now, than the Jets?

The Jets won today, but Super Bowl aspirations are completely shot, maybe even playoff aspirations.

We looked atrocious and Allen lost the game by himself, but both of his WORST games statistically last season were against the Jets as well, so is it really anything new?

To give Knox a break, it was a tough catch.  Wide and nearly in the dirt.

All of the 2nd half I was texting the brothers and nephews to use Knox and Kincaid more.  I didn't get a chance to see if that would have worked.

What do you think about the 3rd and 12 after that to Diggs though?  Tough one to catch, but went right through Diggs' hands.  Can't help but feel Garrett Wilson makes that catch.  And although it was placed in a tough spot, that particular throw may have been placed where it had to be (I'd have to re-watch though).

Thank God the Kincaid pick looks like it's going to be a slam dunk

If that ends up being the case and the 2 players on offense EVER drafted by Beane in the first round are Allen and Kincaid, we should all expect him to draft offense more often.   Not to mention, you've already got the franchise QB now, so it increases the likelihood of success for talented skill position players on offense.

Well no, the Bengals wouldn't have necessarily won.  They needed 3 to tie with about 40 seconds remaining and only one time-out.

That sack was when they were at their own 35.  That's a long way to go in :40 seconds and one timeout.  For some perspective, they only had two TD drivers and they were 45 and 62 yards.  That one began at their own 6 and would have set precedent in that game, but over 30 yards.

It was an overall well-coached game by Reid.  The Chiefs held the Bengals to below-average offensive performance, but put up more passing yards than any other team against the Bengals, but overall yards and 1st-Downs were above average otherwise.

It's a reach to suggest that had the Bengals gotten a 1st down, say 15 yards on that 3rd-and-8, they'd still have had to get 50 yards in about 30 seconds.

I see it having gone into OT which, statistically and otherwise, would have favored the Chiefs.

The score was 20-20 on the drive I am referring to.  Bengals literally could have got into FG position and wound down the clock to a few seconds left to attempt the game winning field goal if not for Chris Jones ending that drive.   KC defense NEEDED to step up in that situation.  Mahomes could do nothing but watch from the bench.

The field goal that KC kicked to make the score 23-20 was with 3 seconds left in the game.

    EDIT:  added play-by-play screenshot

Yeah, seems a little messed up if that's really how it went down.

Despite all of that, the Chiefs have won because of their offense, not their defense, which was only average or so last season, and only somewhat better than average in 2019.  IMO they're done for a while.  Their WR core is questionable on a good day.

I mean… that’s usually the way it goes for KC… but if you watched the end of last season’s AFC Championship game, you would know they probably don’t win it without Chris Jones.

Bengals controlled their own destiny with <2 minutes left to play, only needing a field goal to win.  They had already converted a massive 4th down and if I’m not mistaken I think they were at or near mid-field.

Defense HAD to make a stop in that game or Bengals win…

Chris Jones made that stop.  In fact, in that game Chris Jones was everything that we signed Von Miller to be, and arguably would have been if he was available for our playoff run.

  18. I don't want to jinx anything, but historically when the Bills make an ill-advised decision, they don't get away with it.

Like playing their starters in a meaningless Week 3 pre-season game...

Or dare I say, kicking the ball into the end zone with 13 seconds left in a playoff game...

So, personally, I wish we would rest our starters against the Bears, but that's also because being a 39 year old Bills fan means I am paranoid AF.  So I guess, don't mind me.
