  1.

Oh Jauron/Levy re-worked the roster thru the draft........but first they attempted to bolster the roster with A TON of veteran free agent role players.......15 I believe(and they all were failures with the Bills, the best being the pass toucher known as Robert F Royal).

    They then drafted:

    Whitner to replace Milloy.

    Lynch to replace McGahee.

    McKelvin to replace Clements.

    Poz to replace Fletcher.

Got their guys........but not only didn't get BETTER......but also ended up with considerably less production......and many of those picks left the Bills before those other players even ceased being good starters in the league.

6 picks in the first 3 rounds for Beane and McDermott sounds purdy good.........until you realize that in addition to many aging veterans they now must replace young players like Watkins and Darby.......and perhaps impact defenders like Hughes and Dareus who are kinda' "selfish" types.

And of course.......that's to say nothing of the QB position.

Not sure what's up with you John C.......saw you post a confused response in a thread yesterday where you attacked a poster for a complete misread on your part........hope you are ok.

I like the first 3 picks - White , Z Jones , Dawkins and I believe that all 3 will contribute greatly this year ,

I also believe that Z Jones will be a better WR then R Woods was , and if White will make us forget about Gilmore then this was a great draft ( both are on the rookie contracts ) also Jordan Mathews is no scrab , I guess I will reserve my judgment until the next year's draft ,

We needed a change ( I'm sure that everyone ) can agree on that , right ?

With respect to the highlighted segment I have no clue what you are talking about. I disagree with many people but I rarely attack people. I appreciate your sincere concern though for my well being.

The Levy and Jauron era was worse than being bad. They were stupendously boring. Their drafting and roster additions were mishmash that resulted in mediocrity.

The Beane/McDermott regime is in their first year. Making a judgment about them before they have had a reasonable length of time to exhibit their work is to say the least a tad bit premature. Pointing out the inglorious handiwork of the older intellectuals has absolutely nothing to do with what the wrestling coach and his staff are currently doing. Comparing the two regimes, at least at this point, is not only perplexing but it is very odd.

If you or anyone wants to disagree with the strategy that this new regime is taking to rebuild this hollow franchise that is fine. But no one who is not comatose can say that he/she doesn't understand what is going on with this franchise. This team is rebuilding and it is being done mostly through the draft. There is nothing confusing about what it being done. In my opinion that is the smartest way to take on that endeavor.

  2. Comparing Beane to Levy as GMs is beyond simple foolishness. It is exponentially absurd. Levy as a GM was so out of touch that he not only didn't even know the players on the roster but also was a non-participant in the drafting. He didn't even want the job. He only did it as a favor for the aged owner. Beane is a young and energetic GM who is fully engaged with his manifold duties. When Levy was asked what his role was he said that he was a "facilitator". Comparing Levy to Beane makes no sense.

It stunning how most of the participants here don't know and understand what is going on. This new regime is very transparent and clear with their strategy that they are for the most part going to rework the roster through the draft. Why do you think they are accumulating picks with their deals?

There is no quick fix to turning around this middling franchise. Anyone expecting an immediate leap into contention is unaware where this franchise is currently at. I for one am not blindly loyal to this new staff. But what I do understand is what they are now doing and how they are going about doing it. It's not difficult to see if you have your eyes open and are being open-minded.

Badol, sometimes you post insightful gems and sometimes you get ridiculous. In this case you are far out in space.

I agree pretty much with everything ^^^^^

IMO everything will depend on if they hit or miss on the franchise QB in the draft , if they do hit and we know we finally have our QB , I'm sure they will get all the time they need , if ( God forbid ) we move up and overpay for another EJ , we all know what at least should happen

  3. Peterman has another solid game this Thursday. After the Sammy trade, I don't put anything past the bills front office. I have no doubt if Peterman plays well again on Thursday, they will trade Tyrod, assuming another team is willing.

My guess is they would feel they can get the same production out of Peterman as they can Tyrod, minus the running.

    Thoughts?

I would love for this to happen and I'll tell you why .

1- that means Peterman has a potential to be our starting QB , and it would give us a ( sample ) 16 games to decide

and if he is , wouldn't that be great if we could go in to next year's draft knowing we already have our QB ?

And having 6 picks in the first 3 rounds we could build a monster of a team around him

I think the Broncos would trade for him in a heartbeat.

Agree 100% I was just about to say that
  4. I don't care about wishing and praying that Brady retires. Bills need to man up and build a real team. The refusal of the Jets/fish/Bills to do anything for the Brady Era has been disgusting. Not one of them.

    I'm with you here 100%

I do not wish to see Brady retire on top or worse after winning a SB , I would much rather see Brady pick up his $hit and retire ( because the pats* fell to 2nd or 3rd place in the division )

So until one of the AFC east teams comes and punches the patriots* in the mouth and takes the division from them we should all ecxpect to see Brady on Sunday's , no matter how old Brady is

  5. It's clear we are looking to the future, but maybe they brought Tyrod back so Kyle and Lorenzo would come back and Micah Hyde signs. Also to ensure season ticket sales are high and now that these are accomplished, are we truly gunning for the top pick?

How high of a draft pick ( do you believe ) we could could get for him ?
  6. The Bills are not the Patriots and McBeane is not Belichick.

And T Taylor is not Brady ?

Watkins never produced in the NFL, period. Due to his injury over the years. At least Matthews will produce more than he did, starting day one. Consistency is key. Gaining yards in the passing game will be great. At least we don't gotta worry about a troubled injury, whether we signed Watkins at the end of the season or not.

Yeah i think the 2nd rounder was a key component to a trade w/ any team + a role that needed to be dealt with due to Darby's departure. I agree that he is not the best, maybe someone else fills the second spot role.

There goes Watkins statement about being ready to take on Gilmore.

    Well said
  7. Should be a high 2nd round pick as well. That's the best anyone was gonna offer for Sammy. EJ Gaines was just thrown in there so the Bills could feel like they got a CB back after losing Darby. If we didn't plan on extending him or were even unsure, the trade makes a lot of sense.

    I agree 100%
  8. For sure. But Sammy produced similar to Julio Jones after 3 years, with bad qbs. Would you risk trading Julio for a 2nd rounder?

With FO not picking up Sammys 5th year option ( to me means that we were not going to resign him )

And if that was the case , then it makes sense to get a 2nd round pick ( especially coming from Rams ) then just lose him next and get nothing , just my opinion

  9. And what if things click for a 2nd year #1 overall pick qb; a former rookie of the year RB; a wr core feature Sammy, Woods, & Austin for a very good offensive coach?

I hope that everything will click for the Bills , im not worried about the Rams
  10. Any time you have a chance to get a 6th round cb with 2 career INTs for a top 5 pick wr, you have to do it.

I think I know the NFL pretty well but I have never heard of him before today.

First I don't believe we would have kept Sammy after this season , he wants to get paid and we all know that was not going to happen here in Buffalo , and even if EJ Gains doesn't work out we still got a 2nd round pick , Rams 2nd rd pick = late 1st round pick ...
  11.

Perhaps, but Darby was not very good last year and the defense was virtually unchanged from the year before. The two trades go hand-in-hand, essentially we traded a WR and a CB for another WR and CB + draft picks. We are taking a downgrade this year to improve long term and I think that's OK, and the reality is that Matthews is a productive NFL receiver and Gaines has potential (though he needs to regain his 2014 form which may not happen). Our forte is still in the run game and we've added two productive receivers in Boldin and Matthews plus a solid prospect in Jones as our top three. No reason to think we can't be competitive this year. Sammy missed a ton of time last year and we still could have made the playoffs if Rex and Rob's defense wasn't so pathetic.

    Makes sense !

Sammy is a free agent next year and will be asking for a big payday , so at least we got a 2nd round pick for him , and I guess Darby was not a good fit for what we're trying to do on defense , the good thing is that will have some fire power at the next year's draft

  12. Fish could lose Jarvis Landry for a while on a domestic violence beef.

I hope he goes to jail and becomes somebody's b*^$

    Agreed.

Staying healthy is huge with lack of depth, but the Jets are going to blow and Miami will be mediocre at best, IMO.

So in other words a walk in a park on the way to division title for patriots ?
  13. According to reports he has yet to take a rep other than backup MLB. I suspect they would rather have a backup MLB that can play multiple positions like the others have been doing. Just like Cardale Jones, this kid has no ties to this regime and seems at least on paper to not fit the defense.

I never liked the pick, but was hoping he could push P. Brown out of a job. So far the best I can hope for now is P. Brown bounces back to 2015 form.

    Thoughts?

IMO the only way that could happen ( and i still don't believe it will) is if he gets hurt and is out for the season again ,
  14. Funny... I see a rookie HC, GM, brand new Front Office crew.... A 7th yr QB who hasn't shown that he can get the job done... A 7mil/yr TE with knee problems... A #1 WR who can't stay healthy but is gonna want to be paid HUGE $$ after this season... Kyle Williams who will prob retire after this season... Darby who clearly regressed last season... basically 2 new Def rookies (Lawson & Ragland)... Eric Wood who isn't getting any younger and who has basically been so-so to this point in his careeer... I think REBUILDING sounds just about right.... An awful lot of question marks here...

So your saying the glass is half empty?
