Honestly you can tweet almost anything right now and it could be true. Which sucks b.c we don't know what they are doing. They could be trying to deal 2, 3, & 4 and are just seeing who can give them the best set up.

Thats likely it, you keep pushing as high as you can get as it buys you more flexibility as the draft approaches.  Say we can go up to #3, doesnt mean we don't stop talking to the Giants to move up to #2 but at the very least you have hedged in the security at that spot then you would giving other teams an opportunity to move up.

  2. I don't think there can be another Ryan Leaf.  Part of what made him the biggest bust was the fact it was a coin toss between Manning and Leaf as the by far best two players in the class.  Manning going down as arguably the best QB all time and Leaf going down slowly with all the drama of his attitude and addiction later on.  It's very hard to repeat all those circumstances and not every bust is Ryan Leaf just as every non 1st round QB success is a Tom Brady.

He seemed to play pretty well in the game vs Indy.

Had a 100.8 NFL rating for that game, along with an ESPN QBR rating of 84.6.

I haven't given up on the guy and I am reasonably confident he'll be on the team next year.

He could go on to be the next Brady and he will still go down as the worst QB in NFL history for the SD game in many minds.

You can’t teach someone to be more intelligent but you can certainly teach them the progressions. “If this guy does this, you do that.” Now that doesn’t mean that everyone can get to Peyton Manning’s level of recognition. The point is that you are more likely to teach a guy to read a safety than you are to make him grow to 6’6” and throw the ball harder.

Experience and intelligence are different though, many players need experience to gain confidence in themselves in their ability to analyze reads and progressions but to suggest someone can learn to do that sounds the same to me as being able to learn to grow 3" or learn to run faster.

I don’t disagree but the Saints did it with Grayson and he was a 3rd. If a guy stinks, he stinks. Peterman’s flaws coming in weren’t things that improve. He was called one of the most pro-ready guys last year. That means that teams thought he was mentally ahead of his peers yet he still went pick 171. He had some physical questions that teams hoped could be overcome with his mental prowess.

That’s why he will be written off much quicker than a guy like Cardale Jones that has world’s of physical tools but a long way to go on the mental side. You can teach a guy to read defenses but you can’t teach them to be 6’6” and throw it 70 yards. Now it is likely that neither of them amount to anything but there are different ceilings and adjustment periods. All prospects are not created equally.

I disagree, you can't teach someone to improve mental qualities.  Intelligence just like physical traits are something you either have or you don't.

I'll play devils advocate a little here. I highly doubt Peterman is our starting qb in 2018. However, he takes alot of flack for the Chargers game (and rightfully so) but people always forget that he played very well in the Colts game (in brutal conditions) and you could even argue he played well in the saints game and the 1st Patriots game when he came in (to a degree). So while he may not be starting caliber yet, he has potential

Everyone knows that what a player does in their first game ever is indicative of the career they will have.
