Most trades happen on draft day since many teams have lots of "if xxx is available" scenarios that predicate trades.

That is definitely not "clear."
Should have specified Passing from the pocket QB prospects*

I think Darnold has the upside to be Rosen with mobility and durability but I would certainly not be unhappy with either. Clearly the two best QB prospects without the risk of Mayfield, Allen or Jackson.

Instead of getting the hottest girl at the bar, I’m going to wait until bar closing and hopefully a non-beast will be left. It’s a great strategy.
When you are an overweight 40 year old bald guy, you take whatever is left because you have to.

I'll accept it because what I think doesn't matter with what we do or how it turns out. Like everyone else on here, I'm unimportant.

You have to figure that once we get to pick #6 with a QB on the board we still want, we are calling each team holding it until either they take the QB we want or they trade it to us. No way will we sit tight and hope they reach 12 with the entire league knowing they have to jump us if they want a QB.

What's the cost to move up from 12 to 4?

First of all who in their right mind drafts a tight end when Jim Kelly and Dan Marino are still on the board. It's kind of crazy to think about that we actually could have drafted Jim Kelly and Dan Marino with 12 and 14th pick
If they had done that and Kelly bolts to the USFL and Marino doesn't. We probably trade Kelly after the league folds. We also likely never finish low enough to take Bruce in 85.

You’re basing this off of hypothetical situations. In most scouts opinions, Rudolph is the 5th or 6th best QB in the draft. That tells me that he’s not very likely to have the best career out of this class. It’s possible, just not likely
As I said, I don't necessarily think he will either but people seem to take the pre-draft information as gospel and proclaim things impossible or probable based on an incomplete. (for both good and bad)

Kyle Boller isn't nearly the bust people make him out to be, especially as the 19th pick...JaMarcuss Russell or Ryan Leaf are more synonymous with bust
Its kinda true that almost every QB taken in the first couple of rounds who isnt a Hall of Fame QB is always a "bust" in peoples mind.

Not too unlikely, anyone who is going to get taken in the first couple rounds obviously has skill and say he ends up getting taken by the Patriots or Steelers and has a chance to learn for a year or two while the Darnolds, Rosens etc get drafted by teams like the Browns and Jets then anything can happen. Just look at any draft and see how the best players from them aren't always taken in the top 5. Talent is littered throughout because players develop differently in different environments.

Everyone knows that Mason Rudolph is the best QB in the draft...
Not that I personally think so, but in the end he very well have the best career of the bunch. People get too caught up in pre-draft rankings to consider that the best careers aren't always the ones who go first.

I suspect that the opinion of many Bills fans on Rosen has suddenly increased.

Mr. BadLandsMeanie, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Funny, I don't remember people crying race when we were ready to run Fitzpatrick out of town for mediocre QB play.

And the bad news, we would have missed out, yet again, on the chance to grab a potential franchise QB, and even worse, we had a freakin armada of draft capital to swing a trade!
You are right, and maybe it does push a very good prospect to 12, but there's literally nobody this year that I would take solace in us drafting that's not named Josh, Baker, or Sam. Bruce Smith and Reggie White could have a love child named Bruggie, and he could have 32 sacks 19 tfl, and 90 tackles....and if we drafted him at 12 I'd still go in my room and cry.
I'm sure if they had a child there would be more than just you going to their room to cry.

Here's my thing. Again, we are working in hypotheticals, but why would the Browns want the Giants to trade up to 1 and take Darnold if they like Allen more? Why not just take Allen at 1 and be done with it? To me, they only would entice the Giants to trade up at 1 because they covet 2 to 3 players. Given the information that we were given, let's say the Browns covet Allen and either Barkley or Chubb. In either case, they are taking that other guy at 4. They are not trading the pick.
We need to face the possibility of a harsh reality, namely, we might get shut out of the top 4 QB sweepstakes. It is unfortunate, but it is possible. I'm hoping for something, anything that lands us a bright signal caller, but at this point, I'm entertaining the possibility that we might get shut out and if we do, what's the next move?
If they can get #2 and get a team to pay up for Darnold #1 it's great value, but as you said there are too many moving parts for Cleveland to mess around with it.
-
If this is true, there is no way the Browns will go lower than 2 and risk Allen coming off the board too and the Giants know it so they know they have all the leverage to hold #2 ransom. The only way I could see anything coming about would be to bring the Jets into it. If the Jets are willing to jump to #1 and take Darnold, then suddenly the Giants (according to reports) would probably prefer to take a trade down and what better ammo than to drop to #3 ensuring they get Barkley and extra picks while the Browns get Allen with extra draft capital in the Jets trade. But all this assumes the Browns are willing to risk the Giants wanting to deal with them.
Would you use Shady as trade bait?
