Which is more believable: McD told only Bass to kick a TB or the call was changed and Farwell failed to inform Bass, and now Farwell is gone?

the whole story states Farwell called squib, McD then called for long kick TB. Farwell talked to McD and they went back and forth(argument?). McD (relented?) and agreed on short kick. Not squib. A compromise of sorts?

Then Bass was never told to kick short.

So what was Bass told first? Squib by Farwell?  Or kick long TB by McD? And what was last call relayed to Bass? and by whom?

And whose job was it to inform Bass to change to kick short? As that was not the first two calls. ???

every player on the kick coverage team played that KO like it was to be a short kick to left of Bass in the corner.  Not a squib, not a long kick TB. Everyone except Bass obviously.

We were the best team in the league last year and should have won the Superbowl if it weren't for coaching errors.

We are the Superbowl favorites... literally...right now....

No, we don't need to add Jones, Metcalf and Gronk to have a chance.

    This place is becoming unbearable.

    What is “bodied?”

intimidated with a physical presence or show of force. Not immediately beat on or physically pounded. But implied it could happen if situation calls for it.

ex: a big center enters game and takes up postion on the low block awaiting the throw in w smaller defender on him. Opposing team center immediately switches with smaller teammate to take on the bigger center and bodies him up in the lane. Leans into or stands close.

Bodied could also mean past tense term for a body up action that actually took place.

He requires a lot more work than Mitchell Trubisky so only way I'd like it is if it was a multi-year low value contract.

Bills need to invest in other parts of team and I do not think he is worth as much as Trubisky was.

He gets stability and a chance to show he has improved in games where Bills are comfortably in lead he can be inserted in.

Now if Allen wants to kickback some of his salary to help pay for him his salary could be a bit more.

if he wants to take Mitch slot at 1 mill a year after Panthers cut him(lol not likely), fine I give him a shot.

Let’s face it: It can’t be much fun playing offensive line in the NFL.

I played a little bit in HS and yes the postion seemed mundane and not glamorous but the feeling of holding out players from the QB and watching them get frustrated + blocking well for runs was very very satisfying IF and i mean big IF you are good at it. Very very fun.

Polian was still in Buffalo when Wolford signed with Indy.

The Bills did intend to match the Colts offer to Wolford but Indy put an "escalator" clause in the contract where Wolford would be guaranteed to be the highest paid offensive player on the team.    The Bills couldn't match that because they had Kelly and Thomas under contract for big $..........the Colts didn't have sh*t..........so basically the Bills would have had to pay A LOT more than Indy to match the contract.

Polian was furious.    The league didn't void the contract but agreed that loophole was not something that should be allowed and banned such tactics in future deals.

Wolford really f*cked the Bills on that deal.

Then the NFL f*cked Buffalo again when they awarded 1st round comp picks to Philly and Arizona for simply not re-signing Reggie White and Tim McDonald..........the Bills had to wait a year and then got just a second rounder for losing elite LT Will Wolford to a league technicality.     Tim McDonald was a safety for chrissake.

Yes i remembered, and thanks for details. 👍 Also yeah other teams then were not suppose to be able to us what Indy used.

But posion pill contracts occurred after, before NFL shut them down. A fight of contracts between Vikes and Seahawks. https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2020/4/29/21118726/steve-hutchinson-poison-pill-clause-vikings-seahawks-nfl-free-agency-hall-of-fame

Pure football is not in a dome end of discussion

I've played coached and scouted for 30 plus years and I've never heard anybody around the game say that pure football has to be played in a dome

And Josh allen threw the ball pretty damn well Saturday night .. and I've seen a lot of quarterbacks throw well in not great conditions

And I included catching in pure football so throwing is obviously included.. it's part of execution  in bad weather.. that's what makes it grand .. it's a beautiful sport

We just saw a perfect performance in -5°.. the weather didn't effect Josh

it was not windy. That is the biggest factor.

I wrote this long thread naming over 30 reasons why I am losing interest in the NFL but I deleted the entire non coherent mess because the issues are all to obvious.

Should we find out that an NFL owner truly attempted to pay a coach to lose then all credibility is lost. IMO

Are you losing interest and what are your issues with the NFL ?

everyone knows in some situations teams prefer to tank for draft positioning on last half of season when playoffs are not possible. Draft position is more important in NFL so Ross revelations should not surprise anyone.

bad NBA teams have been tanking for decades now.

who cares, when teams get better than no tanking happens.

Polian still left before either Wilford or Ballard were free agents.

maybe i did not word it clear.

Polian made under market deals with those two players a year early(and agents agreed) before they were to hit free agency.

Wohlford last yr on Bills was 1992

    Ballard 1993.

    Polian was fired 2-4-1993.

Littman nixed the early deals and the result was they then later became FA's.

Polian was livid as Littman undermined his relationship with the agents and denied Bills players they needed. Wohlford was a costly mistake as Bills OL sucked that last Super Bowl.

Ralph was not 100% forthcoming on the firing. He blamed it on Littman and Polian unable to work peacefully together. Which was true and was why they lost Wohlford and Ballard and others. But we all know Polian dissed Ralph's daughter and...........of course predictably...***** hit the fan eventually.

WILSON CONFIRMS 'FRICTION' LED TO POLIAN FIRING OWNER SAYS CHANGE ENDED 3 YEARS OF DIFFERENCES; PROBLEMS WITH LITTMANN WERE KEY

    By Vic Carucci

    Feb 7, 1993

Buffalo Bills owner Ralph C. Wilson Jr. said that his "personal and professional differences" with Bill Polian in the last three years led to the firing of the most successful general manager in team history.

In an exclusive interview with The Buffalo News, Wilson confirmed that the main reason for the dismissal was the turbulent relationship between Polian and Jeff Littmann, treasurer of Wilson's Detroit-based company.

"They didn't get along well," Wilson said from his winter home in West Palm Beach, Fla. "I'm being very honest, there was some friction there. It (made for) an uncomfortable feeling on my part. And I just thought it was time to make a change and restructure our front office in Buffalo, and that is what I have done.

"This change has nothing to do with football, losing the third straight Super Bowl, or anything such as that. Over the last three years -- and I mean three years, not the last month -- Bill and I have had some personal and professional differences.

I don’t think that’s true at all. Wilford and Ballard left after Polian was fired. The belief of Polian being fired was a clash with Ralph’s daughter (daughter-in-law?).

they had deals agreed to for each of those ahead of FA at reasonable numbers as no one knew what FA was about to become. (and several others too like Jeff Wright and Biscuit) then at the last min Litteman(Ralphs money lawyer) refused to agree and had Ralphs backing.

Those players then tested FA and some left and some Bills matched like Wright. At much higher prices.

It was the beginning of the end of SB run.

but yes the big reason listed w Polian was the feud with Ralph's daughter.

It's not happening it will never happen and statistics prove our home field advantage is because of conditions

Josh Allen's lost in perfect conditions

He's undefeated at home in the Ralph in the conditions.. Lamar couldn't play here neither could Mac Jones and neither could Phillip Rivers well

Allen and Bills lost to Colts and Pats just this year in the conditions. And played poor in other games in the conditions.

I've explained this a thousand times why we're never going to get a dome and why it's not bad for us outside

First of all we have a quarterback who will outplay the other team's quarterback 95% of times in adverse weather.. his dual threat abilities make him almost unstoppable

Second.. a dome will just allow lesser quarterbacks to come here in the playoffs and have a great game and steal a victory.. the only fact is there's a lot of talented NFL quarterbacks and they could play the game of their life in that dome..

The chances of them coming to the Ralph in January in not good conditions and playing a great game... Are slim to none

It's not about helping us it's about hurting them a lot more.. which is statistically proven by our 11 and 1 home record at the Ralph

It won't be too long into new stadium life that Allen will not be able to run like he does now. He might only have 1 good year of running left by the time new stadium opens.

Allen passing is better in dome and all around play is better. I will bet on Allen.

And the snow weight. Remember what happened in Minn.

apples and oranges. MN was fabric air supported and prone to tears from ice. They are no longer built. And the ones still in use have converted to solid roof.

Allen has had good games in adverse weather

He hit stefon diggs 60 yards down the field in 50 mph winds.. no quarterback alive could do that besides him

wind took that ball and pushed it to Diggs left causing him to lose track as it hit his arms and he dropped it for game changing possibly wining TD on MNF vs Pats.

Listen if you want a dome because you don't want to embrace the elements just say it

Don't make it about being used for events all year because that's not happening... Jerry world the biggest and best dome in the world...

Has 7 events planned for all of 2022... There aren't a lot of stadium events going on around the country...

And there's not going to be at one in Buffalo...

It's a football stadium it should be built for the best football

all large events are at an all time low due to Covid.

I have a legit question. They say adding a roof to the stadium would be another 300 million dollars (or more). Syracuse just recently renovated the carrier dome and replaced the roof and did all of it for 118 million. Where's the 300 million coming from for buffalo?

Carrier dome was engineered to hold a roof. Adding a replacement did not need much new structural support.

For example Highmark is an open air design and the top footprint is very wide and long and whole stadium is laid back as it does not need to support a roof.

Domes have higher taller grade so roof is manageable for cost and engineering safety.

Study shows new Bills stadium could be engineered to hold a roof in the future by building it with support for the roof. Study says this would be about 118 million.(ironic they list same number as Carrier new roof cost if this is true) And would likely change the configuration making it taller, making supports sunk as needed for future weight support etc etc.......

More cost effective to do the roof now but Owners, State, and County, have already decided it is open air.

Even though all polls show 70 to 85% of fans want a Dome the owners and state keep saying fans want open air. Weird. Wrong statement. And depending on your opinion, dumb.

    Riddle me this..

The Buffalo Bills are 11 and 1 at home in the playoffs at the Ralph .. which obviously takes place in less than ideal conditions

When we had Jack Kemp, Kelly, Allen, the one advantage they have over every quarterback coming to the Ralph..  is they can throw in weather that others can't

The only fact of the matter.. is a dome we'll give the opposing quarterback the chance to play his best game... A lot of quarterbacks in the NFL history have came into perfect conditions in a dome and slung the football all over the field

That's not happening in Winter conditions at the Ralph.. it's not about making you better it's about making the other team worse

Bills roll with passing O that Allen is not good in when going against the win. Bills have best chance when Allen is at his best, which is in good weather.

yes same i find all over. Milwaukee and Chicago has those too. Family pride makes great food. Hugh menu and always good.

Outdoorsman survivalist?  Hardly.   I’m just a football fan who knows the roots of the game are outdoors and the weather at game time is the weather at game time.

Those of you with a preference for moderate conditions should watch at home because that’s the experience you seem to want.   Indoors and perfect.  Nothing wrong with that.  I get it.  Other people will go the game.

football was never invented or intended to be played in winter. They invented basketball for winter play.

Football was always a late summer and fall game that ended by Thanksgiving like High Schools do now. College also over by end of Nov..  All or most bowl and playoff games are in domes or in south/far west in good weather.

Only the pro game development and their desire to make more money did the schedules then push into winter.
