A hive mind is defined as a collective consciousness or intelligence that emerges from the coordination and cooperation of many individuals, similar to the behavior of bees in a hive.  Without getting too deep, I submit that an organization as closely knit as the Bills has a Hive Mind. This post will be tagged as irrational homer reaching, so I won't be brief.

For practical purposes, the Bills' hive mind, or collective conscious, seeks the obvious goal of survival, defined in their case as a SB championship. Just like in nature, there are forces trying to prevent this—of course, their opponents—but also information, the access to which being at an all-time high.

After the defensive injuries of weeks 4 and 5, Allen's dinged shoulder in game 7 and the attendant losses in games 5, 7, 9, 10 and 12, the "information" in the form of narratives further developed: The Bills rely too heavily on Josh Allen. McDermott turtles at the end of games. The team plays the blame game for its troubles.  The nadir was the ridiculous loss to Denver.

We all reacted to those narratives, but so did the Bills' Hive Mind. After consecutive losses, that Hive Mind has gone through several phases of discovery and has created game situations that have tested the team's capabilities in specific ways, like a computer app searching for viruses. Versus the Jets and the Eagles, it proved to itself that the offense was as capable as ever. Versus KC (after the bye and "The McDermott Problem") the ability to close out a game on defense was tested. Versus Dallas, the ability to rely on the run game was tested. Versus LA, the ability to win in the end after a mediocre performance was tested. And finally, versus NE, this testing became acutely obvious when the defense was able to win the game with very little help from the offense. A housed opening kickoff and three 1st quarter turnovers won by the D while Allen had his worst 1st quarter as a pro demonstrates this pretty clearly. This Hive Mind wants the trophy so badly, that it has tested the team against its own failure modes to such an extent that Bills fans are being put through hell every game. But just like the previous three games this one ended with the Bills in victory formation—like it was never in doubt. Josh Allen did not suddenly start to suck. It's all been about testing.

The testing is complete. Hive Mind now has the team ready to put it all together. For five games. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it. Let the attacks begin!!

Is this possible? You can’t have more than 5-6 inactive players… this list has like 15 guys on it lol

Not sure if they can call up the whole practice squad or if there is a limit on that on a per game basis

  3. I've read through about 5 pages of this and want to share my thought, hopefully I'm not repeating something on the following 8 pages.

I think there are lots of good problems being pointed out as the reason for the O's struggles. But I think it is a "moving" problem.

Is it Diggs is getting old/injured?  Maybe, but he still had more than a step on the missed bomb yesterday, and had a key 11 yard catch late on 3rd and 8 against the Chargers.

Is it the O-line?  Sometimes they are excellent and other times we have free rushers coming at Allen.

Allen off platform/too aggressive?  Sometimes.  But we seem to have a lot of untimely drops on perfectly thrown balls also that derail drives.

Is it the play calling?  We've seen good and then some not as good. Time will tell if Joe Brady can zig to the defenses' zag, but it feels like we're in a better spot than with Dorsey.

I think some of this is also Josh/Brady not being ready for the rock/paper/scissors at times of the defensive play calls (hot routes available against blitz, don't get happy feet when there's a spy and no pressure but DO scramble when there's not a spy, etc.)

Then there are untimely penalties that derail drives, at times legit and at times seeming ticky tack/wrong (maybe that's my bills-colored glasses).

You put it all together and I still believe the offense is capable of putting it all together and looking unstoppable with the pieces we have (oh how I miss the days of our "no punt" streak), but there seems to always be something killing a drive, but that something shifts from drive to drive.  If we just start executing with all 11 on each play things would look so much better.  Are we missing practice time with Josh's injury/load management? Are we lacking a sense of urgency?  Is the O coordinator change in mid-season causing growing pains?

TLDR: It's not one thing, it's a failure of all 11 to execute consistently.

Mahomes did this in the Super Bowl when they were down 10 as well.....he starts to limp around so he will have a built in excuse if they lose, but if they come back and win, they will kiss his butt even more....he is such a big phony....people need to start calling him out on his BS.

"Jim, I've never seen a QB play this well, even after a live amputation of his arm on TV during the game!"

Guys, I know about the division currently. I’ve laid it out like others have.

I’m also in the category of “This team will never lose again.”  I think even one of us made a great thread about this.

That said, what are the most likely scenarios that get us in at 10-7? Likely scenarios would be who is likely or could lose to who.

    Go Bills.

Without even getting into tie breakers, if the Bills finish with 7 losses we would need the following: Steelers, Broncos, and Bengals all lose 1 game to get to 8 losses.  And one of the AFC South teams (Jags, Texans, Colts) lose 2 games to get to 8 losses.  Some of these teams play each other so some of these losses are guaranteed.

I'm sure there are other paths (Browns go 0-3, more AFC South losses allows for non-afc South teams to win out, tie breakers), but this to me is most likely and easy to understand.  I'll worry about tie breakers in final week (if necessary).

You know what’s kind of crazy is that Trubisky had a 6 TD game. I wonder if a worse quarterback has ever had equal or more in one game..??

Don't remember how many but I think Brian Brohm had a game like that for the Packers

I'm trying to think of the last time I was 100% behind the Pats winning.  I think Grogan was QB.

But, go Pats.  Yep.  I said it.

I mean, they just lost 6-0.  I'm down with cheering for a 2-0 Pats* win.  Hurts their draft position, helps the Bills's playoff chances, and shouldn't do much for the Pats'* morale.

    Edit: But I ain't watching that *****
