Well I suppose they had to lose sometime. One of the announcers said Harvey set a dubious Met record in he's gone 11 straight starts without getting past the 5th inning.
You sort of figure 90-72 should get you at least the Wildcard. 79-70 isn't crazy at this point to think about the rest of the way, it's maintaing .500 ball with one hot streak

If he's so powerful as this legend of his own mind thinks why is he always injured?

I wasn't a Ryan guy in the least but I always gave him credit for signing Richie as that seemed like a steal. Shady is of the last ties to Rex I think.

That Andre Ingram story with the Lakers was awesome. Waited 10 years to get a shot at the NBA

A couple of little arguments, nothing ever physical. Yes though I was in 4th grade at the time but Super Bowl 27
39 minutes ago, BuffaloRush said:Here's a question, that I am sure many people can relate to. I'm wondering if you have ever gotten into a fight defending the Bills. Personally, I have gotten into many verbal fights that occasionally ended with pushing, shoving, or a thrown drink here or there.
In high school, this happened quite a bit. I used to have a Buffalo Bills Starter jacket (which ironically is now worth a lot of money) and it was great to wear it to school when the Bills were winning. Not so great on Monday after a Super Bowl loss. I remember getting teased really really bad the day after Super Bowl 27. Mind you, this was in Western, NY but I think people had started to turn on the Bills for losing. The problem is that many fans were jumping on Dallas Cowboy bandwagon and wearing those annoying dark blue and silver poofy Starter coats. Sorry to any Dallas fans, but those guys were just jerks. The irony of those kids from the blue-collar city thinking they were rough and tough Cowboys.
Anyway these were the days when kids were allowed to bullies. There was a lot of bullying going on and school just accepted it as part of the high school experience. And wow was I bullied after the Bills Super Bowl loss and it started immediately - like right when I walked into school before the first period began. It got so bad, I finally stood up to one fat blonde haired kid with the Cowboys Starter coat and told him to shut the f up. I think his name was Randy. This was around a crowd and he was embarrassed, so he challenged me to fight in the gym at 2:30. I didn't want to fight because I knew I'd lose, but something inside me wanted to fight for the Bills. By the end of the day, word really began to spread throughout school and everyone was asking me if I really was going to go through with it. I told them yes.
I remember walking down the halls with my Starter jacket. Several teachers heard of the fight too and they made not attempt to stop me. In fact, several male teachers shook my hand and said "good luck." When I got to the gym, I saw Randy waiting for me on the bleachers. There must have been about a 100 people waiting. I ran over the bleachers and we started trading punches on the bleachers. We feel over a few times, as it's easy to trip over the steps. I took a few good shots but gave some back too. But the fight stopped when we backed up to the edge of the bleachers I picked Randy up and suplexed him over the guardrail onto a plastic table. The table didn't break but it did tip and he kind of skidded right off it. Everyone cheered. Randy's pride was kind of wounded and he pretended that he was hurt worse than he was to get out of the situation. He limped away pretending he hurt his knee when people congratulated me.
They did not sing the "Shout" but they damn well should have. The worst part about this was, I think the gym teachers were still in their offices hanging out. They were too damn lazy to get off their ass to try to stop a fight after school. Oddly enough, no one was ever disciplined or even questioned about the event. There were a ton of people there, so the adults and teachers had to find out about but no one cared to do anything. "Boys will be boys" I guess. But them 'Dem Boys (Cowboys)....F Them.
That's really the last major physical confrontation I've had, but it's a great memory defending the Bills against a bandwagon, trash-talking Cowboy wannabe fan. The Bills did not win the Super Bowl that year, but I sure won the fight.
Well I think Daryl Johnson was a WNY'er as well, so maybe some of them could have had some excuse. Well not really.
I was in 4th grade during Super Bowl 27 but I still remember how annoying bandwagon Cowboys fans were during that time period. But no I've never gotten into any physical fight over them.

Having lived around the country, I would say the thing that stands out about WNY to me is the people.
Down to earth, open, friendly, willing to help others out. I find those things to be true, and those characteristics, generally, are definitely not found in other areas.
For example, the general flavor of the greater DC area, where I lived for 13 years, is stand-offish, smug, and it is not uncommon for people to walk past you, look you straight in the face, and not acknowledge your existence, even if you smile and say "hi" to them.
And that's not just a "big city" thing...that's a DC thing. Probably lots of other areas too, but other large cities are not nearly as cold...
Anyway, WNY is the land of good people and friendly neighbors, and I think that's what I like about it best, though I have not lived there in nearly 20 years.
Yeah not from there but that was always the picture I had ingrained in my head from my Dad.
Theres always idiots who go to games but I think all you have to do is look at all the money raised for Andy Daltons charity to see what your talking about

I always remember Talley as the teammate who stood and keeps standing up for Norwood after Wide Right. It was sad to read that.

I'm enjoying every minute of this start. It's like when the Bills were alone in 1st place after Week 1 beating the Jets. 8 games in baseball is perhaps equal to one NFL game in the season. Let's keep it going

Will that guarantee pretty much 100% you'll be a Bills fan? I was in Philly today and everyone had on Eagles gear. Okay sure it's easier to like a team that's just won a Super Bowl, but someone born and raised in Philly who grows up to be a Cowboys fans seems a little out of the ordinary. Plus Acme will give you discounts on your food groceries on game days if you wear Eagles gear to the store.
Growing up in NJ in the heart of Giants/Jets country, it doesn't guarantee you'll be a fan of either team. Those two teams for the most part are the most popular here but there's scatterings of other teams fans here as well. Cowboys, Dolphins, Steelers, and bandwagon Patriots fans are well represented here. Then I root for the Bills.
I imagine other teams in Buffalo aren't well represented fanwise...

I always liked Reich personality wise better than Kelly but it's certainly moot at this point. People grow and change their minds. If he didn't mature in Houston those two years who knows how it would've went down here

Not from Buffalo or went to school there but I was interested in them the first two rounds of the tourney. I guess since most Bulls fans are Bills fans I presume. Plus it was a nice story for a little
I get what your saying though. I went to Rutgers in NJ as an undergrad and for a lot of reasons I was totally apathetic to their sports teams. In that case I found it was the parents of the students more so than the students that were into it.

I loved it as a kid. I remember laughing at the Rhino scene for what seemed like forever. As an adult, it is not what I remember. Again, I think a lot of this has to do with the age and circumstances we are in when we see a movie.
Earnest Scared Stupid. Another great movie that was both funny and scary to childhood me.
Ahh ha ha, How about a bumper sandwich bugger lips? Forgot all about that character

I need help with you young whipper-snapper's lingo . . . What is Chilling? just hanging out and being lazy?
If only the Catholic Church understood this. They're about money IMHO.
Lol yeah. Even on the weekend after working a 60 hour week. Poor guy died of stress among other things now that I think about it (my grandpa).
Catholicism can keep you on the right track in life but as others said you should live that way because of fear of the after world.

My curiosities this morning led me to ask something which I'm sure cause debate or not.
Grandfather was an old school Catholic, thought chilling was a mortal sin and missing Mass. Wasn't raised that extreme but grew up with that sort of influence. The men in my family were like Jack Arnold from The Wonder Years.
Is that sort of upbringing a thing of the past for the most part?

The people, restaurants, or good neighbors? Or the Bills and tailgating?
I overheard someone today say they visited the city and found it depressing, would never live there, and any other negative stereotype it has. It's what made me raise the question.
To each their own but I found this person to be a d-bag.
