Bills will beat the Titans.  Best guess the Bills are heading to a 11-5 record, with losses to Eagles, Browns, Cowboys, and Pats.  Should be a 5 or 6 seed and if they get hot they could win the whole things.

Eagles, Browns, Boys and Pats are all eminently beatable. Don't know why you assume losses there. Heck, with even just competent QB play, the Bills easily win yesterday..

And he also dropped in some dimes against one of the best defenses in the league. Yes, he's a backup for a reason but I think he has played at a high level for us in that capacity. If he continues to play like he did for us last year and yesterday I think we win the game on Sunday.

You could also add that if McD hadn' t foolishly wasted timeouts, things would have been less desperate near the end and Barkley could have operated in a somewhat calmer manner. Or if Haus hadn't missed that FG, then the less-panicky goal would have been to play for the FG and take it to overtime.

mad no.  disappointed, yes.  this team had to play perfect football, or near perfect football to win that game yesterday and they didn't.  the offense is way to riddled with mistakes still, and that needs to be worked on.  as i said in another thread, i'm more interested now to see how this team responds on sunday.  if they come out and look competent/win the game, it will make me feel  better going forward.

Not perfect, just average as far as the O and ST are concerned. How does a supposedly on-the-rise, expecting-to-be-taken-seriously NFL team so horribly blow a punt? This isn't the Mountain West or a high school league, for crying out loud. And the pass blocking? Yeow. Zay watching interceptions like he bought a ticket? Lee Smith with FOUR stupid penalties? Add in JA's atrocious performance that reinforced every negative the non-WNY media and football "experts" have said about him forever. Throw in some of the coaching & the biased refs stuff and the wonder is the Bills didn't lose by 40 points. And they didn't because the D was magnificent. So, no, it didn't require anything close to near-perfection, just middle-of-the-road competence by ST and offense.

The hot garbage Allen hater takes are comical. Way to overreact

Overreact? It's impossible to overreact to what was an all-time awful performance by a Bills QB, ranking up there with Peterman against the Chargers. Even a reasonably mediocre NFL performance and the Bills win that game. Even with the awful refereeing and the blocked punt. It's not like it's his first NFL game, not like he's never done the same stupid, reckless things. To paraphrase Dennis Green, "He is who we were afraid he is." Unless you're blind from thick rose colored glasses, then you too have to be worried that he's not the long-awaited answer we all hoped he was.

The Bills don't need anything.  They have a Super Bowl caliber roster.  They proved today they are on par with the team favored to win the Super Bowl.  They need to execute and not make stupid mistakes.  This team cleans things up and keeps improving, they are going to have a chance to win the whole thing.  Can't make mistakes.

I don't know that they'll ever get there with Allen. Depressing to watch him today. It was like his mind emptied out of all the teaching he's received and all the progress he was making and suddenly he was back at Wyoming. Troubling.

That billboard sucks.  Ranch is much better than blue cheese on wings, pizza, salad (especially chef), etc.

Were you raised by wolves? You don't put any dressing ON wings. That's for the celery, meant to cool your burning mouth when you chomp down on the appropriate heat for wings, which is at least Atomic. And the only dressing approved by God for that is blue cheese. Man oh man, folks now days.

The most frustrating thing is that the reason we have had to comeback and win is because our offense has been so inconsistent. We have the defense and the offensive potential to blow teams out. We either start slow or get ahead early. We need to see a complete game from the offense to have a chance against the Patriots whose defense in my opinion has inflated stats from playing lesser teams up until this point. Our defense can only bail us out so much. We need to see that game from Allen that makes us go wow that's our Franchise guy, instead of flashes of greatness. If we get ahead we need to keep our foot on the gas and rack up some style points instead of letting teams hang around

You are correct, but there are as many as 9 new Bills on the field at times, and they have only 3 games together under their belt. Let's see how they are at mid-season.

  8. It seems to me the three things the D must do are, in no particular order:

1- Completely take away the running game while

2 - Putting consistent pressure on the O line and forcing Brady to throw even quicker than usual, and

3 - Keeping receptions underneath so there are no long breakaways for TDs. If the Pats are forced to do their scoring from inside the redzone, I'll put my trust in the Bills D.

And of course, do not so much as breathe on Tawmie, who will draw those penalties from his other teammates, the refs.

In last night's case, it was the supporting cast that let Rodgers down. I really thought that Graham should've caught that pass in the back of the endzone on the 2nd last Packers drive from the 1. But, I will say that Rodgers, I think, wanted to win it on the strength of his arm and checked out of run plays. That's what cost the Pack the game. Sometimes that wins them games.

Allen, like Wentz can have the same fate on Sunday. But Brady seldom checks out of the smart play.

You may be right that Rodgers wanted to win with his arm, but to me a more plausible reason for not running while right on the goal line has to do with the Eagles Dline blowing up the Packs Oline all night long. Run Chubb 4 straight times? They couldn't get the run game going when the D had to defend the entire field and now you have them compressed into 10 yards? And even on those goal line passes, the Eagles were wrecking GB's Oline.

  10. The article seems very well balanced. The Bills have been erratic and low scoring, have yet to put a full game together, and have had to come back from the edge twice in three games, and both times it was self-inflicted. And all three games were against mediocre teams. Until they can put a full four quarter game together and put up more points than they've been doing, and do it against good teams, I don't see how they can be regarded as anything but average. But I do think their trajectory is up and they will be well above average by the time Christmas rolls around.  A win this Sunday will go a long way towards accelerating that.

Numbers, probabilities, metrics etc etc. Sure, data is cool in a lot of ways but it’s also cold and boring. The real magic of the NFL ( and sports in general)  lies in its ability to surprise us. Dramatic changes of momentum, incredible plays and surprising outcomes are what keep us watching. Through all the analysis, this game has potential for those things to occur.

Isn't it PFF whose new rankings have Mahomes as the 6th rated QB? When they can suit up an algorithm and put it out on the field, I'll start trusting stats over my eyeballs.
