  1. Exactly. Jones was wide open. Even decent placement on that throw and it might win the game.

I'll have to watch the game again, and the all 22, but as of now I can not even begin to defend Tyrod's performance in that game.

To be fair, everyone on offense struggled though. The O line had a rough day. Shady had a rough day. But Tyrod was right at the top of the list of guys who had a bad day...

Everyone struggled on offense?! How do you know that?! We didn't see receivers til 2 minutes in the fourth.

  2. I don't think this is as complicated as some think.

Definitely not easy. Especially for newer guys who were learning and trying their best to absorb the original plays all preseason.

I'm not saying there aren't smart guys in the NFL. But most aren't exactly what you'd call book worms.

I'm sure it won't make that big of a difference but any amount of confusion or having the inside track only helps, it's definitely not a bad thing.

  3. My advice is to not bother with those canned responses. It's clearly those posters go to when they don't like what they hear.

It's the same old thing over and over. Football is here, and each week will bring us closer to getting to the answers we are all searching for.

Until then...post and discuss with only those who are mature and respectful enough to actually do so.

Really? That's not what you were saying two pages ago when I defended your honor like Daniel Laruso in karate kid two.

Your minions getting a little carried away. You might want to reign him in a tad.

  4. And SF for that matter.

Yeah, there's lots of competition for that #1 pick. Luckily there's a bunch of qbs that look like a solid option and we're packed to the gills with picks.

It'll be hard for some of these teams to turn down a solid offer. They need a lot more help than just a qb.

    Case in point, the Colts.

  5. It sure isn't last year's D.

They are looking to lose you can't sugar coat this win that the Jests are a good team. Bills won a game they should have easily won against possibly the worst team in the NFL this season.

I don't think anyone in the entire world said the Jets are a good team. Their D isn't as good as last year but they're not terrible either.

No one should have to "sugar coat" a win, and I don't see anyone doing that. Everyone said we were going to win this game and they did.

You say the Bills "should have" won the game easily. They did. There was never a moment that was in jeopardy.

I get you have your opinions but it's starting to get into agenda territory now.

After watching teams like the ones last night, the Colts, I wonder if the Jets are a potential playoff team. Some brutal play out there.

That's pretty extreme to say they're a playoff team. But they certainly look better than the Colts and Bungles as of right now.

  6. That is sad

Here I was thinking we were coming to an understanding and meeting in the middle for some decent conversation.

Then you come in and post a blanket inflammatory response like that without any contribution to the topic at hand.

You're just proving crusher right. Bunch of dudes ganging up and completely derailing any momentum.

That is what I find sad.

  7. I loved what I saw from those two. My concern now is that we released Mabin and are severely lacking in corner depth especially with Gaines being a a bit of an injury risk.

I'm a little nervous that if one goes down we start cycling our safeties in the corner rotation and we set ourselves back like we did in years past.

Corners are like the one position you can't have enough of and I hope we're not shooting our selves in the foot.

  8. I would argue that I have never in this board or on the BBMB ever blindly jumped on anyone who ever has any criticism of TT. I in fact have shared critiques of him when I feel it's justified. Last year's opener for example I bluntly stated TT stunk. Ask transplant how many times I've challenged him on his inventing stats to try and put TT in a positive light.

In this thread there have been numerous postings that I would say criticize the guy for making a play. And those I will debate. May I humbly suggest that your contention that I always do whatever is a symptom of what is wrong with postings on this and many other boards: you generalize in a black and white way without really reading what has been posted. I believe in gray; answers generally lie between the extremes.

So you completely ignore the whole second half of my post where I'm explaining my stance rationally and not at all posting in black and white generalizations and your contention is that I'm not really reading what has been posted?

Ok bud, again you're projecting your exact actions on everyone else and not taking any accountability. That's not a discussion, that's you automatically deciding that everyone else is in the wrong and you're Mr. Objectivity.

That wasn't at all the case when you first starting posting in the thread and telling people with a differing opinion they were flat out wrong without contributing any counter points of your own.

  9. Can I suggest again that you each get rid of the martyr, victim mentality and discuss football rationally? When you make claims as your compadre did that you want TT to fail so you can rub it in the faces of others on the board you are asking for negativity back.

You go on and on about how terrible the guy is. TT is not likely to ever be one of the great QBs. I understand that, and would support them looking at drafting one as high up in round 1 as they can next year. But the bottom line is that the offense does fairly well when he is behind center. They were in the top half of offenses last year, and while one can focus on deficiencies like throwing receivers open those who don't like him refuse to accept his strengths like his mobility and his keeping defenses of balance with his running ability. He is by far not one of the worst QBs in the league.

Maybe instead of blindly criticizing anyone who looks at the guy with anything less than a jaundiced eye you should just look objectively at things. In this thread there are individual posts criticizing plays where the guy made things happen, the throw to Matthews being among them. That is simply looking for any way to be critical, even when the criticism isn't justified. That kind of behavior from those who do not him as QB is self explanatory; it is simply an agenda at that point.

And I would say the same as those who praise him to the hills for a play a QB should make.

I mean, to be fair this is the most articulated and coherent you've been in the entire discussion.

You were just as quick to blindly jump on anyone that had any criticisms of Taylor.

You can't really get on people for doing exactly what you were doing in the beginning of the thread.

Criticisms aren't unjustified just because you believe they are.

I'm willing to meet in the middle. I'm giving Taylor the benefit of the doubt. I'm going to believe that the Bills when into their shell because they were playing the Jets and not that they don't trust Taylor.

I hope I see them "unleash" Taylor like they said they would. Because if going into a shell, completely losing offensive momentum and relying on a late game int is unleashing then I don't know what that means.

Against good teams that can score (and I believe Panthers are) I want to see them score and keep it going aggressively, even with a lead.

  10. Yeah because Taylor has never thrown to receivers before. This was answered a few times in pc's. Taylor attacked the weak portion of the defense. Maybe another week has strong linebacker play but weak corners. Guess where he'll go.

Taylor goes outside to receivers for two years and people say he can't hit the TE. Taylor hits TE RB and WR in middle of the field and now your worried he can't hit a receiver. Smh.

These are actually fair points. I'm even getting a little excited about seeing Taylor play.

I have a feeling against better teams he's going to look like the same guy but I'm willing to go into the Panthers game with an open mind. I'd really like to see them trust him to play aggressively even with a lead.

You can't go into a shell with a lead and trust that they can get the momentum back when the tides turn. Especially against good teams.

  11. If Tyrod plays like he did Sunday this team will not stay in the hunt very long.

I hope that wasn't an example of the Bills "unleashing" him. I'm hoping they just went into game management mode that early because it was the Jets. We can't depend on getting late game ints every game.

They won't be able to get away with that against good teams. I've asked this a bunch of times and I still haven't gotten a response.

Has he ever called an audible at the line based on the D, and does the team even trust him to do it?

  12. We're a different team, they're a different opponent. Context matters. This game was never in doubt. If we're playing someone other than the Jets averaging 4.8 YPA passing and 2.5 YPC rushing we probably don't take our foot off the gas so much.

I hope that's true. It seemed a lot like I've seen that script play out one too many times.

If it was purely a Jets deal, that's fine. But if we start doing that against good teams you can bet it's going to be hard to get the momentum back once we willingly hand it over playing vanilla.

What was with Tolbert and the sweeps? They were doing a great job opening holes up the middle for him all game?

  13. So you think they didn't trust him to throw it in the 4th? Not that we had successfully ran all day and could easily kill the clock and ensure a win? Strange take, for sure.

It took us intercepting the ball again to ensure the game was over because we couldn't sustain a drive at the end by having to play so vanilla.

I've watched us throw away too many games at the end because we go into a protective shell and go three and out over and over again.

Weird take, or you just don't remember those games? We're not going to be able to count on the defense always coming up with a stop and turnover.

We have to take advantage of all of our opportunities. We're not good enough to sit on leads.
