I think Garrett wanted to be traded and it isn't about the money, but more about the browns telling him we aren't teasing you so either play on your current contact, sit out and don't get to advance an a year, or become the highest paid non-qb in the league. Which he just is making best of a bad situation.
Really, it's dumb of Cleveland to do this. They needed a hard reset and he would have gotten them a lot of assets to help rebuild.

Honestly, I said it in the game thread, but it was a complete mistake not taking the game to the two-minute warning. All's they had to do was hand the ball off to Cook on first down. No, instead we throw an incomplete pass over the middle. That needed to be the final drive of the game, we didn't play like it.
