Sure seemed that way from McDermott's press conference
Could you please elaborate a little?

I woke up this morning flipping a coin in my head,
Heads: we draft a QB only to receive complaints about him not being a flawless prospect in the fifth freaking round
Tails: we don't take one and complaints will happen regardless
That said, I was thinking Peterman would have been taken a lot earlier for the listed non-Tyrod positives outlined earlier. It's also an anti-Whaley QB relative to what we've taken - athletic big armed raw projects in CJ and EJ for a more "pro ready" style guy. I'm not going to be 100% confident like several on here that McD is under control, but to take seniors only, non athletes, and jump on front of Carolina twice for the exact same position makes me wonder what'll happen shortly...

Start getting funds for the anti-McDermott billboard

This may be just me, but it turns me off when people make statements that can only be an opinion as fact. Not trying to call you out specifically, I think it's a terrible side effect of the twitter age. Making statements of opinion as fact.
Like, what you meant to say was, "I believe that McDermott had to sign off on the pick and believe Whaley will be fired after the draft"
It certainly isn't just you, but there's nothing else to do but accept that several people will always have their own narrative and not distinguish what they hope or expect to be true with what actually is.

Not only did the newest "culture change" remove gaming, but all questionable paraphernalia. Smiling, squinty-eyed Doug wasn't privy until draft night.

1. Great title lol
2. After all the gut reactions and natural whining dissipated, it seems like people are liking the pick more and more as they look into it, I wouldn't worry about this.
3. It all comes down to if Mahomes or Watson are actually Franchise Qbs. This trade will be re-discussed for years depending on their results, Tre, who next year's pick will be, etc. I pray they aren't for the sake of avoiding the "wtf we could have taken Dak?!?!?!?!?!" kind of renaissance

Scouts getting fired. Never said Whaley.
Mike Ditka was thought he was pretty clever when he traded for Ricky Williams. Just sayin'.
Yes, but the heads of the scouting department have been appointed by the media and message board's whipping boy. Who knows, maybe it's just the Ralphers/lifers, or possibly a full clean house. Or a pure bluff. I can only shrug and eat my popcorn.

Wow. You couldn't have been misunderstanding my posts in this thread more if you tried. I've actually been agreeing with you.
It's nice that I've now been attacked by a Whaley hater and a Whaley supporter all in one thread.
I'm done with you, too. Good luck with your side of the bitchfest.
ok K-9 I apologize. Read what you saying the wrong way. glad you agree.
if he was getting fired would he really be allowed to draft or make draft trades with the KC GM a week out. Would you let him do that if you were firing him. Please use common sense for one moment. This is so laughable
Lol I was actually trying to support your view that I think Whaley is inclined to stay, but again, for you to be so confident and headstrong with your view and dismiss me as "laughable" can potentially set up for disappointment.
Now let me try it from a different stance:
Unlike you, I don't have a damn clue what'll happen with Doug. He could be in charge like how we both presume for the contact with KC, or he could be making calls as McD's Secretary/B word, just to report back to him.
-
Way to quickly dismiss our DTs in a purely negative light...not saying that stuff is wholly false, but in all likelihood better days and results are ahead for Marcell. Nothing really needs to be said about Kyle.
As for our DBs and LBs, do any of those names besides Gilmore and healthy AW seem so almighty and sorely missed?

I've hated the garbage speculation that he's all but fired for months now, but OP, to 100% confidently say that he will be back next year after a scout was cited to say they're all getting fired this week is just asking the Sassy, critical "I-told-you-so"s of this board to bump this thread up out of spite should he actually be gone shortly.
I'd personally rather him stay at least for this upcoming year but who knows...

The NFL Rumor Mill operates at full capacity this time every year.
It's kind of fun if you don't take the stuff it generates too seriously.
I'd brush this off like the other dozens of "rumblings" (to quote LaCanfora), but for a scout to be quoted on anticipating getting fired is a horrible look.
-
I've never seen mocks get so murky at the start of the second freaking pick, where no one knows what SF will do.
-
Lots of the Whaley hate is rational, but the one thing that unnerves me is that how the media and many fans on this board keep saying he didn't want Tyrod back.
I believe that to be partially true, i.e. Hell no he wasn't coming back with the previously structured contract. I'm sure Dennison and McD wanted him back and were in unison with Doug to try and renegotiate a deal.
Week 17 - as much as I want to forget - was basically "is EJ worth keeping as a backup?" issue coupled with the injury clause.
Go ahead and criticize the Watkins draft or maybe the most recent one that had lots of bad luck with injuries, but to use "OMG he loved EJ over Tyrod!?!?" narrative is ludicrous
FWIW, I think he should get one more year to see how this drafts prospects pay off (if he at least is working with McD and not already rumored to be overruled), but if he's gone, so be it.

might i add, that Wade Phillips i no longer the DC in Denver either. he moved on to the LA Rams. as such, i doubt Denver's D will be as formidable as they were the last few years.
The sheer talent on that team's defense makes Wade's departure a moot point, imo. I'd be surprised if either team puts up over 20, and will come down to whether Trevor or Tyrod's arm makes more plays.
-
I surprised no one has said it yet so allow me:
LaCanfora
If this were a bills targeted headline we'd be all over that by now. "hearing" "rumblings" conjecture etc...

have they ever dined with a prospect and not picked him?
either the smoke is getting thick or they may pick this kid?
Jim Kelly was present for dinner with Tebow
NFLN reported we were trying hard to trade back into round 1 and get him, Buddy refuted and said we tried to get another player that ended up getting taken

#comppicks
Wait never mind he was cut. This fad died away right?
-
Every time I picture Keith Rivers, I always remember Hines Ward putting that monster block on him breaking his jaw.
Or a crawling Arian Foster getting the first down thanks to not being touched

Sarcasm
"Comp picks" may be a more lethal trigger phrase than "wide right" here
-
Something similar happened with Emmanuel Sanders and the chiefs right?
And there was that debacle over the fax machine for the Broncos keeping Elvis Dumervill.
**** you, NFL.
-
To hell with DeAngelo Hall and the cheap shot he gave him
-
Sorry for the snarky response
I think I would like to use the 10th pick on the best player available at a position of need.....which I think is going to end up being Clemson's Williams or Corey Davis
To me it is not about finding WR2....it is about finding WR 1A which I think eiher of those pass catcher's are. I am tired of getting into the season and not having quality wrs to throw to because of injury. I fully expect Sammy Watkins to be available to us BUT just in case we need a quality guy that we can lean on in the passing game.
Now before I get the responses of "Well TT doesnt use them anyway" I would actually like to SEE a season of starting pass catcher's on the field before saying he cant use them.
I dont want a corner at 10.....that is spinning our wheels and there are good ones through the whole draft
we are good ont he DL
taking a qb at 10 would not be taking best player available
there are no LB's worthy of the 10th pick
Yolo...that was my first thought as well
You wouldn't classify Reuben Foster as deserving of pick 10 (should he be there)?
I do agree WR2 is severely needed, but I am just really hopeful it's done in a trade back as above posters have mentioned. I only think WRs are worth taking that high if they're generational talents or likely Pro-Bowlers like Megatron or AJ Green. Trading up for one is fine if your QB is set (Julio Jones) instead of going "all in" with a guy like EJ for the luxurious Sammy...

We probably didn't offer him much.
I'm glad he picked Pittsburgh over NE, it's a better chance for him to get playing time as they move on from Wheaton and possibly Bryant.
