It all comes down to who’s available. It’s not like the possibilities are infinite. If the free agent cupboard is bare….do nothing.

So true, by now there's not much left. A way you can make your safeties and cb's better is put more pressure on the qbs. Maybe the cupboard is empty on remaining pass rushers, but I know our current top 3 guys may not cut it?  Would I like (not love) Aiyuk on a reasonable deal...yes. But I just feel we're done dealing. We're going to roll with this group and pray guys like Solomon,  Coleman maybe Claypool step up.

Your frustration is understandable and as a rule paying a 34 year old edge rusher 120 million is not good policy. The fact that he blew out his knee in the first year of the deal is the reason it’s bad policy because the full recovery is a low percentage proposition. Now we’re stuck with the burden of that bad contract on our cap for another season. Beane took a shot thinking Miller would be the final piece to get us a ring. Now we probably should give him this season to make a contribution. Most of the damage is done.

Well unfortunately Von never became our Chris Jones impact player.  Like Gunner says I'm not expecting much this year.  And the organization will likely part ways in June 2025.  Just an incredibly unlucky event which tends to follow Buffalo throughout the years.

Last year KC's offensive rank was 9th.
In terms of scoring rank, it was 15th.
Still, KC was able to win because of their defense and good coaching.

BUF that is inferior in both (especially in the playoffs) will have to make up for it with something.

Yeah....the problem won't likely be the offense.  It will come down to coaching and keeping the defense healthy. Just once I wish Sean could scheme something up to get the better of Andy....Just once in the playoffs!

  4. I'm just personally tired of the national media narrative that for every JA17 interception,  you subtract 1 td.  No wonder he never wins the mvp.  It's all about minimizing the picks. Regardless of whether you rationalize them into a punt.

  5. One play I can do without is the pass behind the LOS.  And at least reduce the triple stack wr screen. I'm rooting hard for Claypool to not only make this team but have an impact. He could act as the "double dip" wr we didn't draft.  I would like to see less blitzing out of frustration like Shaw and others referred to.  I trust whatever combo package McD/Babich come up with,  but it's all meaningless if our D can't stay healthy.

Well sir I direct you to the last 8 weeks of the season where Diggs disappeared and the Bills ran an impressive wining streak with MINIMAL input from Diggs.  I am sure thats already been brought up here however.  If so I am piling on....if not.  Please refer to the second half of the 2023 season Diggs.  In all honesty Diggs is being replaced by Kincaid more than anyone else.

This is absolutely correct. Josh could very well quickly develop a rapport with Coleman,  Samuel and Hollins/Claypool. Figure Kincaid will assume the #1 receiver role. But there's still alot of unknowns. Shakir's role will be imperative to our success this season. We clearly proved we can win without 14.

He will continue to make stupid mistakes and hope his superstar QB can minimize his F-ups. There will be at least 2 times this season where he will make the same mistakes he has in the past and we will be wondering wtf, how has this idiot not learned his lessons from the last.

So true...I keep being told by the McDermott supporters to be patient and wait for Sean to have his Andy Ried moment. And maybe someday he does?  I keep being reminded that before McDermott we were 17 years of awful. There's absolutely no denying Sean's top tier character and ability to bond with his players.  But his players aren't stupid and they can see the game day flaws with their own eyes.  As we can as fans.  This franchise will be forever grateful to Sean & Brandon for having the courage to take a chance on a prospect from Wyoming. But once it was confirmed he was a superstar (2020), they turned their attention toward Defense. That imho will historically be one of their biggest flaws. Even this crazy wr heavy draft, we pick one guy?  It just made no sense after losing your top 2 wrs.  At this point, "Josh's growth" will factor more into a possible championship than Sean's will. Josh will have to rise above and be Superman every week. While we pray our defense can a) stay healthy and b) make one critical stop in the playoffs.

I'm not sure that Josh Allen is the best QB in the league, but there not much doubt about him being better than Tua.  The old saying is, "The best ability is availability."

Between the two of them, Josh Allen is an iron man and Tua is likely one more concussion away from the end of his career.

Compared to Tua, Josh is Brady.  But until he wins a Lombardi,  Josh will always be the 2nd best qb in this era. Now fantasy football points is a whole different argument.

For what it's worth, Ray Davis had 12 receiving TDs in college to Cook's 6 (granted, Davis played an extra year).

Davis had 7 receiving TDs just last season, which was the most receiving touchdowns by an SEC running back in 25 years. Pretty impressive.

That's another reason I think Davis can eat into Cook's playing time and maybe seize the starting job from him: He's just as capable -- and arguably more so -- as a receiver.

Davis's role on this team inside the 5 yard line will be critical in taking pressure and impact off of Josh. Clearly Ray has the "power back" ability to quickly make fans forget we ever had Murray or Harris.

As far as Coleman, Bishop and Carter go, I think they'll all contribute early.  Coleman/Bishop will start quickly and players like Carter/Solomon will have heavy rotational reps.

I'll throw a wrench into the discussion and say that I think Ray Davis has a chance to take real playing time away from James Cook. As it is, there were times last season where the staff seemed to want to move him to more of a change of pace role and give more snaps to Latavius Murray, but Murray was looking long in the tooth by that point in the season and wasn't up to the task.

I think James Cook's best role -- based on his college career, his size, his skillset, etc -- is as a change of pace, timeshare, 1B kind of guy. I think the way you get the most out of him is to have him split reps evenly with another guy, or even to outright be the change of pace guy while someone else is the starter.

I also think that James Cook is a below average pass blocker. I'm not sure how Ray Davis is in that department, but IF he's a better pass blocker than Cook, that'll be his first ticket to eating into Cook's reps. Beyond that, and just generally speaking, I can see Davis doing more of the 1st and 2nd down dirty work, short yardage and goal line stuff, and Cook being more of the 3rd down back, splash plays guy, and being more involved as a receiver.

I don't think this will happen immediately, by any means. But by, say, week 10, I can see Ray Davis being the de facto starter at running back for the Buffalo Bills.

I don't care which RB gets the most carries as long as he catches the damn ball.  Cook dropped 4 td passes last year...unacceptable. I too would be ok with Cook & Davis splitting carries 50/50. If James actually didn't have stone hands, I'd keep him as the feature back.

    Some sort of pass rusher.

Rousseau, AJ, Von as your top 3 isn't good enough IMO.

Hoping for a similar situation last year when they signed Leonard Floyd

Spend whatever cap you have left on Ngakoue.  Hes probably the best option of a sparse remaining group of ufa's.  Last year "rental Floyd" outplayed our 3 amigos.  I'd let Yannick rotate with Von, AJ & Groot.  I still think our overall pass rush will struggle this year but at least Ngakoue has had a couple 10 sack seasons. Maybe one of those sacks could knock Mahomes out week 11?

  12. What's done is done. No one is whinning or being incessant about Beane's decision not to double dip. I personally think it might come back to bite him if certain current wrs don't pan out. And a wr rich draft like we just saw doesn't come around every year.  Maybe Samuel, MVS and Coleman shine? Rookie wr contracts have great value. So BB is rolling the dice here.

Hamlin has more starts than both combined, and while he didn't do anything impressive, he wasn't the liability people claim him to be.  Coming off a near death, and a circus offseason, i didn't expect him to contribute last season.  But a year removed?  I didn't see much from Lewis to elevate him, and I don't get very excited about a depth player who is on his 6th NFL team.

Neither Hamlin or Lewis deserve to remain on this roster.  We have to raise the bar a little on depth players.

What folks are doing is drafting them on a rookie contract so they can let them walk b3fore their salary impact ts the cap.

That has been the RB playbook and will be the WR playbook for smart teams. Rinse and repeat every 3-5 years

At this point I'm paying Josh and an elite young pass rusher and that's it.   I'm not investing alot of money in wrs or rbs anymore.  We'll get a real good idea this season if (4) WR3 type guys can spread the wealth and produce,  without drama or busting the cap.
