  1. Here is a little background. I'm getting married in august and the wedding is going to be on an outside terrace. For the ceremony we r going to have pre-recorded music. Our DJ was going to charge us 500$ extra to provide the music for the ceremony. I said F' that and I have decided to provide the music myself. I have always wanted to get a premium Ipod docking speaker system and I figure now is the time to get one as Iam thinking I could use this to provide the music. Can anyone recommend one thatwould perform well for this purpose? I went and tested out the bose sounddock and it seem to get very loud with little distortion. I am also looking at the Klipsch:

Thoughts? BTW the outside terrace is not a huge space.

  2. You can still go to the place for food and drink and hang out and then hit the clubs later if you want entertainment. That's also a good plan in the event you are kinda obligated to invite people you don't really want to be around during entertainment.

this is exactly what I was thinking. There are people that i will not invite if there are strippers there. I am a pharmacist and know a bunch of older pharmacist friends that are invited to the wedding but would be inappropriate to invite them to the bachelor party if there were strippers. I know my father is not to keen on the idea of strppers but my father in law is all for it! Go figure. I'm sure there are some people that will be dissappointed but I guess in the long run its may be easier without the strippers.

  3. My stag (August 16th) will have no strippers. Not one of the bachelor parties my close friends and I have held/attended in the last several years have. Its a waste of time and money. We like to booze so damn much that the strippers actually get ignored (my buddy Lenny's party was the last one to have strippers -- the strippers were neglected). Go ahead and call me a fag, or whatever else, but honestly, I'd much rather have a day full of boozin and cooking out with my friends (I'm expecting roughly 100 people at mine, which will be held outside) rather than a smoke filled room with dirty strippers in it. If I was 19... hell yes. But now? I'll pass.

Thats my wedding date and also my birthday.

  4. So I am gettng married in August and my best man (brother) decided to go with a place taht we are familiar with and have attended a few bachelor parties at. So he booked the place and put down a deposit. A few weeks go by and we fnd out the place no longer allows "entertainment". So my question is do we forget aboutt his place and look elsewhere (losing our deposit) our do we bite the bullet and have a party without the "entertainment". My brother doesnt feel its necessary as we would have a great time regardless. I personal really wanted it but i could live without it. I have never been to one without it. Is it lame to not have it? Ths probably would be better served as a poll.

  5. A buddy of mine find an article on espn.com and this is what he copied and pasted to me this evening:

"The Patriots, for example, play one of the 10 easiest schedules in NFL history, a .387 magic-carpet ride that should allow them to win at least 14 games in 2008."

HAHA! And some of you actually think those of us complaining about the schedule are just full of hot air? I'll tell you what REALLY happened.......

when the schedule came out brady did his litlte magic limp wrist wave and a few 'doo doo doo doo doo's' and the schedule magically changed into that cream puff schedule and then they all had a pillow fight over at kraff's house and bellacheat's wife rented some disney movies for them and they call ate air fluffed popcorn and then were promptly tucked into the same queen sized bed by ole grandmother brushi who told all the boys to keep the noise down because she doens't want ole teddy 'strokin' out again!

    GIVE EM HELL BILLS!!

Can I just say it. This is the funniest post i have read in a long, long, time!

  6. Crossing my fingers here, and I hate to say this. But is it possible Buffalo could be holding onto Losman in case someones starter goes down in camp? If that is the case Buffalo could really work some draft picks out of whoever lost a QB in camp. I got to thinking as to why Buffalo has not tried to trade him yet and that could be another reason........

Ive gotta be honest im still all for Losman and Edwards having it out at camp.........

But, Like I said if a teams starter goes down, Buffalo could be in prime position to get some NICE draft picks for 2009.

It a reasonable assumption. I do believe thatLosman will not be on the roster at the start of the season.

  7. Depends on your region so you have to look around. With the way you have handled your finances, you will get the best possible rate. Most adjustable rates are currently higher than the 30-yr fixed rates so you may choose to go the 30-yr way. As plenzmd1 said, be aware of total fees required to close. In the past, I have found that lending banks have good loan officers so you may not necessarily have to go to a mortgage broker. The banks are more upfront with their total closing cost estimates. My suggestion is to call 3-4 banks and 1-2 mortgage brokers. This can be done over the phone so the only downside is a sore ear.

Will do. Right now I am exploring the internet.

  8. Just guessing, I'd say $10,000/year, maybe up to 12

you nailed it at 10,000. The house is in amherst so these kind of taxes are unavoidable, but it is a great area especially tyhe schooling. We curretnly live in snyder (amherst) which we love and we love our home. We just always wanted something newer (our current wouse was built in th 1920's) without actually having to build. we found the right home and we actually got our offer accepted today which was 10 grand below asking price on a 2 year old home. We are both really excited as we are getting married in August and now we both have a home together rather me livingin the home she bought before we met. Lets just hope everyhting goes well with the closing! Also I really appreciate the helpfulness taht you guys showed toward my situation and I would love more input. I am young and have alot to learn about these things butI am very thankful to have people like my father andmother (who have boght and sold 11 homesin their life) to consult with on many things. So I am learning as I go.

Also does anyone know of any good mortgage rates being offered? Thanks

  9. I don't have the brain capacity right now to figure out your debt issue, although it looks like it might end up pretty close no matter what way you do it.

With a home purchase, it has nothing to do with multiplying your base salary that doesn't mean squat. With a traditional home loan, banks will use the 28/36 rule. That is what you should be using as well. No more than 28% of your gross income should be used toward your monthly mortgage payment/PITI (Principal, Interest, Taxes, and Insurance). The 36% is your mortage (PITI) plus outside debt, meaning your mortgage and other debt (student loans, car loans, etc) cannot exceed 36% of your monthly gross income.

I've worked with the ratios. 15% of our base gross income would be going towards monthly mortgage/PITI. I have also worked the numbers using much more strick ratios using what our actual take home paycheck is asI invest ~20% of my paycheck (15% in 401kand 5%in stock) While my fiancee is at 15%in 401k.

I think alot of you guys on here think I am talking about buying a 600,000 home. The home we are looking at is roughly 360,000. We are expected to clear ~50

to 60 on the sale of our current home. We are looking to upsize as we have run out of room in our current home. Now is the time to upgrade.

  10. your credit doesn't matter and either does your job. There are plenty of doctors out there with great credit and great jobs who went out and bit off more than they could chew and are now in big trouble.

The mortgage we will be taking out is roughly 1.35x our minimum combined base gross salary ( not the standard 2.5xthat banks will tell you you can afford). With the extra shifts we pick up between us we make considerably more.
