  1. Not at all really.

I'm HAPPIER seeing this than a Bucs/KC game because I want to see some different teams and not be hit over the head 1000 times with is 'Brady/Mahomes the best now or best ever' conversation.  For that reason alone I will ENJOY watching this game more.

But for the same reason I will ENJOY watching it (stress free), is the reason also I am not excited over it.  I truly don't think these are the 2 best teams in the NFL.  They are barely in the top 3 in their own conference.  So whoever wins the game will be the Superbowl winner, the league champion and they will deserve it....but it takes a little of the excitement from the game when in my mind the winner might not even be one of the top 4 or 5 best teams in the league...and I know that going into the game.

The good thing about this SB is neither team has ever won a SB before so that makes it exciting for the winner.

Except for that Rams vs Titans Superbowl back in 2000 where the Rams actually won the title.  Different city they were representing, but the same team/franchise for sure.

It’s the goal, but it’s not an excuse if you don’t reach the AFCC game. Only one team gets the bye and for the second straight year at least one of those teams will not make the Super Bowl. Overrated.

Overrated, yes I agree.  But I think it means SOMETHING, even if it is something small.

I don't think it is much of a detriment.  As we all hear all the time, by the end of the season most teams have bumps and bruises, and one more week to rest is certainly a lot better than no week to rest WITH another week to accumulate injuries.

Plus, there is always a chance that a key player is going to have one of those 2-4 week injuries...and having the bye week might be at the right time to get them back for the first playoff game vs not.

Home field advantage means something, but I think it really means a lot less than it used to.  If for the last few decades we were told it was wroth 3 or 3.5 points...I think in reality it may me 1 or 1.5  STILL, I'd rather have it than not.

I’d have to put an asterisk on that.

Spy gate and deflategate certainly taint his accomplishments for me.  Yes, he did win with Tampa.  That doesn’t even the score.

    I agree.

If you want to say he had the best career ever I'll entertain that because of longevity.  But at their absolute peak, the best they ever were, of the Modern QB's I'll take peak Manning over Peak Brady.  They were close, but I have never seen a QB in control of a game and dismantle any defense as good as Manning at his peak.  As far as comparing him to other QBs from different times, to me that is only guessing so I stay away from doing that.

  4. Yes, he most certainly is 'good enough'.  That does'nt mean he is a top 5 back in the league. It also doesn't mean that it isn't possible to find someone better, but for this offense and team, he is more than good enough.

-The was the main feature back for the most part the last few games, and with him as the feature back this offense put on close to a historical 2 game playoff performance.

-The guy is averaging over 4.7 yard per carry for his career, and that is behind what is an 'average at best' run blocking line....I don't think many will say this OL is full of road-grating bulldozers opening massive holes for him.

-Blocking he has gotten better, I am now pretty confident on biitz pickup he will at least identify and slow down a blitzing LB or DB.  Out of the backfield he isn't a downfield receiving threat, but you have a lot of other players for that, instead he has turned into a reliable outlet guy for josh that knows how to find that short 4-7 yard dump-off area to be open for him.  He is average-to-good at those things.

I am under no illusions he is a top 10 back in the NFL, but in this offense I do not want premium dollars spent on that, I'd rather have it spent on the OL.  But, is he 'good enough'?  To me he is more than good enough for the role that needs to be played by a rb.

  5. Probably not.  I think this team is so Josh Allen centric that  he has enough weapons around him.  Now sure, could you always get better weapons and will it help? Yes, it would, but at what cost?  The cap space that DK would eat up...how many more points would the Bills score compared to what you could do with that cap space on the OL, DL, LB or DB's?   I think Allen can carry this offense with good weapons (not great) and the money spent on 'great' players can best be spent either protecting Allen or giving him a Defense that will win the KC game or the Tennessee game from earlier this year.

  6. At this moment, this tread, and the sentiment by the title of it and the original poster, is in contention for the worst thread on this forum of 2022.  I'm all for the discussion that it brings and this is what message board are for, just I can't disagree with it enough.

    2. 13 Seconds. This is going to be haunting Bills fans until they break through.

    3. Defense. Speaking of the #1 defense not good Vern not good. Tre White certainly was missed back there, but your All Pro safeties had their worst games in a while. One of my issues with the defense that is turning into a problem in general is they seem to care more about the headlines then reality at points. Stats and rankings are great and all but when the big moments came yesterday they failed again like they failed last year.

I agree with most of what you said, but the 2 things that matter to me above all else are the above.

13 seconds.  Thats it. It trumps everything else

The defense may have been RANKED #1 in some metrics, but whey weren't a #1 defense in many people's eyes for 2 reasons:

-First, they 'fattened up' that ranking against some real bad competition. As other have said, what QBs did the Bills have to face that other teams had tougher ones throughout the year. Yes, you play who is on your schedule, but that schedule helped to contribute to that #1 ranking instead of a #5-#10 ranking.

-Second, even if that #1 ranking is justified, this isn't what many of us remember as a #1 ranked defense.  #1 in this case just means you allowed a few less yards and points than other teams.  It doesn't carry the weight of the 85 bears, 2000 Ravens, 86 Giants, 2013 Seahawks, and others. Those were dominant Defenses, this D-unit, not even close.

im pretty confident we win the coin toss, we win the game.

Fine, might be true.  But this is a game that really shouldn't have gotten there.  13 seconds?  13 seconds?  There is no getting beyond that for me.

  9. In a way, it was worse than any of the other losses.

Wide right was bad because it lost you the superbowl, but that kick was never a sure thing for Norwood's range.

Music City Miracle...bad, but it was a breakdown on one play.

What makes this worse?   "13 seconds" first of all, and that lone might be a bigger collapse than either of the other ones above. But it wasn't just the 13 seconds.  The D could have made a stop on the possession before and basically won the game....they could have made a stop in overtime. This was the biggest collapse of all of them.

  10. Seriously?  There are problems with this team, and the head coach isn't perfect, but there is no way you make a change now.  Even if they get to the playoffs next season and lose to KC again.

Just as much of a job a head coach has is not only to coach the games, but to work with the GM in the offseason to make changes to the roster and the gameplan.  If you are in the playoffs and within 1 possession of moving on, you don't change coaches.

We sucked for 17 years. By November we were strategizing on draft picks …

we now have gone to the playoffs 4 of 5 years. we have a superstar quarterback, a very solid defense that carried this team most of the year - and anytime we lose TBD spews more hate at our team than the network talking heads. Enjoy what should be a tremendous number of years. It has been a great ride and look forward to where we are headed … GO BILLS.

After a game like this, do you expect everyone to just say how thankful we are for being able to get to this point? Serious?

Talk after a game, threads like this....talk after a big win, that is the REASON message boards and social media exist.

We need a change in Defensive philosophy. The "bend but don't break" soft zone Defense doesn't work against top offenses with elite playmakers. Aside from Kelce's TD, I don't think Mahomes completed a pass that had a defender within 3 yards. We made his job so easy. Even when Mahomes needed a miracle, there was a guy wide open for a 20 yard gain... Twice.

We can beat average teams with Frazier's D just fine, but it's not a championship winning defensive style.

You may be on to something.

In a game you need to win, you rely on your QB...so tonight it didn't matter if you allowed 27 or 15 points, both would have been a win.

Get more playmakers, take more chances.  ONE int, ONE strip sack fumble....ONE play in the 4th quarter or Defense would have won you this game.

    Tonight this wasn't a "bend-but-don't-break" Defense.....this was a "Bend-Snap" defense.

  13. Improve the OL, Davis starts at WR with Diggs.  McKenzie can replace Beasley but you need depth behind them.

    EVERYTHING else on the D-side.

    -Keep Tre healthy.

    -Playmakers in the back 7.

-Someway, SOMEHOW you need 1 DE/Edge guy up front who can get pressure against anyone, anytime.

    That is all.

  14. Chiefs:

    -9 of 14 on 3rd/4th downs

    -552 yards

-Mahomes ran 7 times for 69 yards

-Mahomes passed for 75% completion rate, No turnovers, 378 yards

-KC ran for 6.7 yards per carry

-You only held them in their own side of the 50 yeard line 1 time all game.

-when the game was on the line in the 4th quarter and OT, receivers were WIDE open, MULTIPLE times where no defender was within 5-10 yards of them.

-Most important of all if it....   13 seconds.

#1 defense?  This may be one of the worst Defensive performances in the History of the NFL (certainly playoffs) by any D-unit ranked in the top 10, let alone #1.

If we can’t win this game this year, with the way Allen just played..it’s just not going to happen.  This was our shot. 9 ***** months of sitting around now waiting for a chance to go back and probably not even play close to this well.

Its not 9 months, it is 12 months.

9 months is the regular season. If the Bills beat the Chiefs by 30 points in the regular season and win the #1 seed, it won't mean much unless/until they get farther than them in the playoffs. That is a 12 months wait JUST FOR A CHANCE at that, not 9 months.

Just want to point out that Diggs was open on several plays, but Josh looked elsewhere.  Davis more than made up for Diggs "lack of production".

It should have been over after the last TD with :13 left.

No matter where the ball went, the offensive players execution was almost a non-existent problem.

This is 20% on situational coaching decisions, and 80% on possibly the worst meaningful Defensive performance we have ever seen as Bills fans.

Choke?  Going to OT on the road and losing on a coin flip is hardly a choke, get real.  We get that coin flip we win that game just the same.

The way the D-unit played. it was a choke.

Stop them on their 2nd last drive and you win but you didn't.....then the whole '13 second thing'.  Then no resistence at all in OT? That is a choke.
