  1.

I think Peterman is the starter now because he out-played AJ McCarron and Allen isn't ready.

Whether Peterman can execute that quick read and deliver passing game behind a horrid OL, to mediocre WR who can't gain separation and who drop too many balls, and with defenses doing their best to bait and confuse him remains to be seen.  We'll hope he can.

     I agree.

I think this OL is very bad, and the WR's aren't that good either. Either QB is going to be 'set up to fail' behind this OL.

Right now, Peterman is likely to fail 'less', but he still is being set up to fail....They are saving Allen from a disaster though.

  2. I think the team will be pretty bad, but I'm O.K. with it (its what I expected).  I think Peterman is probably a better QB than a lot of people think, but he won't look that good on this offense.  I think the team could be pretty bad (3-13 or 4-12 wouldn't surprise me) but if things fall into place, I could also see as good of a record as 8-8.  If I had to pick a record, I'd say 5-11.  I see ZERO chance of having any kind of winning record though.

With so many changes over the past year or so..I have no idea exactly what to expect. But even if they are bad, at least the beginning of the season will hold my interest because it will be only way I can see just what they are.

I agree with you.  I'd put most likely at about 5-11 though, not 6-10.  COULD this team be 8-8?  Sure, if whoever they start at QB exceeds our expectations (and national expectations), then sure.  But right now I see too many holes on this team for them to be in the top half of the league.  Honestly, I don't have a strong feeling at all (less than most years).  If they finish as good as 8-8, it wouldn't surprise me much....if they are 3-13, it wouldn't surprise me much either.

  4. I could be wrong (like I often am) but I don't see the Bills trading McCarron.  You are not going to get much back, and then you have to go out and get another QB, which will take a while to learn the playbook. If the OL is as bad is they seem, it is only a matter of time before Peterman gets dinged up..or seriously hurt. Then what?  You want to put Allen behind that SAME OL...and with who as the next man up if he goes down?  For what you would get for A.J....I don't think it is worth trading him.

Besides, just how bad has he been?  Not great, but he has a total of 16 attempts behind a bad OL in the preseason throwing to a sub-par set of WR's.  That is less attempts than a lot of QB's have in one half of a regular season game.

  5. If he were a free agent...FREE (no picks or players), I'm not 100% sure I'd want him if he is asking for $16-$18 million per year for 6 years. So, if that is his 'contract' price...I don't want to give up anything for him.

I would maybe, MAYBE give up a 2nd next year...maybe a 1st in 2020...if you could get him on a 4 year deal for $60 or less total.  I don't think either of those things are happening so I hope the Bills don't make a play for him at a higher price.

It isn't the draft pick compensation that worries me so much....as the cost (in dollars and cap space) you are going to pay someone who will be well into his 30's by the end of the contract.

  6. I have trouble comparing anyone to Marino in this class.  I hated Marino when he played, don't like him much as an announcer, and thought he was a huge baby on the field, but I think, despite being a Hall of Famer, he might be under-rated.

The numbers he put up in that era, without much of a running game to fall back on, with the rules back then that are no where close to favoring the passing game that they are now...pretty incredible.

  7. I'll add another one to "my own house/living room"

I get to show up when I want...1 minute before kickoff or 1 hour before.  I get to eat what I want...sit on my favorite couch.  Have my phone with me or access to the computer if I want.  If the game is awful, the remote takes me to another game.  If I want friends over, I can invite them...if not...I have the option to watch the game myself.  Can get stuff done during halftime.  The second the game is over, I'm ready to do anything else I want (movie with the wife, clean the house, watch the next game, do the shopping or chores I decided to not do in the morning, etc.)

The simple explanation is that Cris Carter is an imbecile.

    I agree.

There are a lot of former players and commentators that I like who I didn't think i would (I like Randy Moss and A-rod, when I didn't think I would), but Cris Carter has to be at the very bottom of the list of former players who are now on TV.  I don't like his attitude and I don't agree with a lot of what he says.

  9. The Browns had 6 games last year where they were within one score of winning late in the 4th, including a couple of OT losses. That was with terrible, TERRIBLE QB play and a lopsided turnover ratio (partly due the the awful QB play.)  I think the betting on the Browns doing well is that if they even have AVERAGE QB play, they are likely to turn many, if not most of those close losses..and maybe with a couple good QB games, they can take some of their moderate losses last year and turn them to wins.  Also, add the likely return of Josh Gordon (some think he is an elite WR) and some more high draft picks....and I can see why people think this can be a 6 win team.

If Allen hasn't been named the starter then just let him play week 4. The more live reps he gets the better.

    I agree

If you are worried about him getting hit, then run a 'run-heavy' offense.  The benefit for him will be to be in game action and make his pre-snap reads. Sure, they may be against 'vanilla' defenses, but it will still be against a team that he doesn't see in practice.

The current facility provides a 'nice' experience.

Is it shiny objects that you are attracted to??????

    'New' is not always 'better'

All that glitters, is not gold....

Go watch the game in a 'trendy' restaurant if you need to satiated in such a manner....

Once again, I am amazed by how open minded people are on this forum....I like what I have, and if you want something different, too bad.  Geez

Older guys tend to be OVER 'trendy bars', and there is always going to be a small percentage of idiots at any stadium, regardless of the price of admission. If you want 'a new, and different experience', start going to away games. You 'won't buy season tickets again', but you want everyone else to pay the freight for your expensive change of scenery.

    Some fan..............

Some fan?  Yeah....that would be a person who is a fan of the 'event', not just the game.  People can be a fan of the game or a team just as much from home as they can from the stadium, or be just as much of a fan watching in from more comfortable seats in a nicer venue as they do surrounded by concrete. It drives me crazy that people say to be a 'real' fan of the team you need to watch it in person at one of the oldest stadiums in the league.  Wanting a nice experience doesn't have to  make someone less of a fan.

  13. I'm OK with him not starting with the first team yet.  The coaches see a LOT more of what he is absorbing and not absorbing, see a LOT more of the throws he makes and doesn't make.  If the coaches think he should get a start with the first time, then let him PRACTICE with the first team before playing.   If they think he should stick with the 2's and 3's, I'm ok with that also.

...so my next question is where and whom is in that "untapped market" from your perspective?......I'm going to give you some actual corporate support numbers to consider....out corporate 20 person suite is $75,000 per year......eight trips from Roch-Cha-Cha via limo bus costs $8,800.....on board refreshments and tailgaiting is $4,000.....we pay $500 for parking annually....in suite food and beverage runs $1,500 per game or 12 grand annually  (case of beer or an order of wings are $125 each)....if my math is correct, that is $99,800 annually....so if the suite price goes up 1/3 or 25 grand, and food/beverage goes up 20%, I'm up to $127,200 a year.....we're out and many we know would be out...so now what??.....

I'll answer that question.  A bunch of 40-60 year old guys and families that don't go to games anymore but used to..who make a good salary in the area.  I'm not saying multi-millionaires, but I know a handful of people (including a couple relataives) that make over $100k that used to go to games but haven't gone in years. Give them a new stadium..a Dome...some trendy bar/restaurants to hang around in....and LESS of a perception (whether real or not) of out-of-control drunken-ness...and I guarantee you those will the people who will be willing to pay double, triple or more for tickets, replacing some of the current base of buyers.  Personally, I will not buy season tickets again, but I would pay $200 or more for tickets a couple times a year to give me a new and different experience than what the current stadium gives.

  15. As others have said, they don't NEED a new stadium.  But why would it be important they get one?

New revenue of course, and for P.R. for the league.

People say how would it generate new revenue, the Buffalo market is tapped out?  Well, it could a few ways:

-Whenever a new stadium opens, there are some fans from other cities that will make a trip to see the new stadium. The effect can last a few years.

-You WILL get more money for tickets and concessions.  I haven't been to a game in years and years.  Give me tix, I won't go because I'm happy at home. But give me a shiny new stadium with cool places to eat and gather..I'm likely to go to a few games per year for at least a few years...even paying $100+ per ticket (maybe more)

-You have people like my brother-in-law who makes a really good salary living here in Buffalo..he had a few season tickets up until about 5 or 6 years ago. Give him a new stadium, he'll shell out $200 per game easily and get season tickets if you give him something he thinks is worth it.  That may not make him a 'true fan', but the reality is there are a lot of people with disposable income that don't go to games now but will pay higher prices if you gave them a better, more comfortable (domed) gameday experience.
