He has a lot of Rob Riddick in him.  The dude has a sense for the end zone.  It was not a panic pick.  The Bills had him in for a visit.  How can someone complain about adding youth and talent to our geriatric backfield?  We got our TE too with Knox.  Ford-Singletary-Knox- that is adding much talent to our offense!

Only thing I can think of is people are bitter and salty cause we didn’t take a wr

The issue is the Bills' track record, like every other team in the NFL, is terrible at assessing talent in the draft.

Sheer number of draft picks trumps perceived  "quality" of picks.

More kicks at the can = more opportunity to land contributors.

Ya and the higher the round the better odds they will be good. By your logic maybe the bills should just trade down every year and collect 15 7th rounders.

Yes because poor production in this style defense.  He's a speed rusher for a wide 9 or a linebacker in a 34. He's a fifteen sack guy in right scheme.  Jim Schwartz or Mike pettine he's more valuable to them than us because of what he'll produce in those schemes. Beano won't invest what Jerry is worth in this scheme.

So basically you look at the number of sacks to determine a defensive ends productivity. Who cares about all the qb pressures and hits he gets

That's cute. It's a shame we don't have career trajectories or anything. Spoiler: if every one of our players including our combined 66 year old RBs have the best season of their careers, we're still short. But carry on.

There’s also this thing called defense that influences games. Robert foster had 3 tds in half a season as a rookie but ya let’s “project” him to only get 3. If Allen takes the next step it’s also ridiculous to think everyone’s tds won’t take a jump.

The second half of last year with Barkley and Allen post injury the bills were on pace to get 48 tds over the course of a full season so ya there is no way the bills could ever get to 50 with adding a bunch more offensive weapons, new oline,  Allen becoming more comfortable and experienced and the draft still yet to come. But keep talking about unrealistic offseasons and meaningless projected stats

In the Scenario I outlined we would have had 95 million to spend, so ok - I'm fine with that. You still have $40 million to put you right in line with teams that actually have star players. Go get whoever else you need with the $25 million and save $15 for draft picks.

As for the draft, it would have cost us a first round pick for OBJ. Are you expecting to get a better player than OBJ at #9? If you are, I'd llike to know why he's not going #1. AB was traded for a 3rd and a 5th. You wouldn't trade a Backup DT (Phillips) and a backup safety (Neal) for one of the two best WR's in football?

Who are you re-signing in 2-3 years? White? Who else? Poyer and Hyde should be gone, Hughes will be gone, McCoy will be gone. What Kind of deal has Dawkins earned? Milano?

The contracts for the players mentioned would be up at the same time Allen needs a new deal and hopefully by then you have a strong pipeline of young talent ready to take their place.

Oh and by the way this isn’t madden. There are 31 other teams also trying to get these players

Well those two would have been high on my list. The WR FA market was extremely weak and I knew that months ago, but once the top 2 receivers were available on the market for pennies on the dollar, I expected our GM to make a more concerted push for one of them. Instead they both play for rivals.

I also expected an upgrade at RB. I wanted them to cut McCoy and go after some combination of Coleman, Ingram, Hyde, or even Ajayi. Bringing in a player like Gore is the exact opposite of what I thought they should do, but is also something so Billsy it had to be expected. As for TE, we got the worse Tyler, and paid him like he was the right one. I don't hate the signing in general but the money they paid to get him is borderline ridiculous.

In general, I don't hate any one of the players the brought in as much as I hate the story they're telling with the culmination of them and the money the spent to get these guys. Every one of them is a filler niche player. We lost guys like Watkins, Woods, Darby, Dareus, Gilmore, etc. so that we could have $80 million dollars in the bank and build a brand new team.

We had the kind of money to go full madden mode if we wanted to. We literally could have got Beckham, Brown, Bell, Morse, and still had roughly the same amount of money left over to go sign depth players. Cutting dead weight like McCoy and Murphy would have paid for Bell, John Brown + Cole Beasley nets you AB's contract. You could have used the draft to fill out line depth, get more LBs and TE's.

Did they spend it in a way that makes you think they'll be beating teams like New England, Kansas City, Philly, LA, LA, New Orleans, Indy? No, they spent it on small, old players with injury histories.

Bell brown and obj would cost over 50 mil a year on top of trading our entire draft to get them

I agree with the OP that our WR’s are not elite,  but at least we now have Brown and Beasley who would start on any NFL roster and Jones and Foster who are young and improving.

The only way Beane could have made our WR core stronger would be to trade for AB or OBJ. Each of these risk damaging the team-first culture they worked so hard to build and would sacrifice draft equity that will improve the team further before week 1.  I think we’ll be adding a stud D-lineman, but we will add at least one, maybe two week one starters in the draft.

I think our WR core is much better than a year ago and I think our first round pick is better used to improve another position.

    FP

But the op didn’t say our wrs weren’t elite, which means they could still be good or atleast average he said they flat out suck.
