tyrod is done in buffalo.  guy just does not have it.  i wish him well.  now...if peterman is effective, do we not draft a qb and build the offensive and defensive lines with our draft picks?  if he plays effectively do we draft a first round qb?

They'll need a back up at least. This year just got interesting again.

I think they still select a QB in the upcoming draft.  Having two good, young QBs is a good problem to have.

There are probably about 8 positions that need an upgrade including QB, right side of OL, several positions on DL, and LB.

Unless Peterman tears it up right from the get go McDermott doesn't seem like the type to go into a season without a FA vet for insurance.

You have to take into fact, they've watched film on him every game and Sunday was probably the last straw.

When Taylor is bad...he's really bad.  They probably saw way too many missed opportunities and needed to make the change.

What they saw was a defense scheming taylor in a way that even Sister Mary's Home for the Blind could duplicate. LA is going to pressure Nate right from the get go, because that's what you do to rookies. If he can beat it early on and find some success they'll back out of it and then watch McCoy go nuts.

On a side note, see Tolbert is being held out with an injury. Maybe the worm has turned.

Taylor will start and won't be replaced against the Chargers unless the offense is as pitiful as it was vs the Saints halfway through the 4th quarter.

McDermott already played this card and won't go there again. Trentrod's leash got shorter last week. Another clusterf**k from him and he probably gets the hook after one glorious quarter. The Bills can't afford to lose this one.

I don't think the FO is under any pressure. They're playing with house money right now and I think everyone inside OBD knows Tyrod isn't our long term future.

If Tyrod lays another egg in the 1st half against the Chargers there's no way they don't give him the hook. At that point you're trying to save the season and you need to get Peterman on the field to see what happens.

Taylor and the whole offense have been a total train wreck the last two weeks. With a legit shot to break the playoff drought this year, you don't just stick with Tyrod because it's supposedly the safe thing to do. Changes need to be made sooner than later if the on field performance doesn't change.

Change may be on the horizon. Went over to the Bills web site just for fun to see if they would even mention Peterman. Sure enough, not only did they acknowledge his playing time but labeled it "impressive". Not so far fetched that Pegs may be asking pertinent question.

3 - Peterman tosses first career touchdown
With the game well out of reach, Buffalo’s backup quarterback Nathan Petermanicon-article-link.gif was called to action. He threw the lone touchdown of the game for the Bills, and it just so happened to be Peterman’s first touchdown in the NFL.

“It’s a milestone for sure,” he said. “Ultimately it’s a team game and we didn’t get it done. We have to go back and get a lot better.”

Buffalo’s fifth-round pick in 2017 put together a solid stat line in his first regular season showing. He completed 7-10 passes for 79 yards and one touchdown. Peterman’s passer rating was 126.7.

The touchdown drive he orchestrated was impressive. It was a six-play, 75-yard drive that took just over a minute. The final result was a seven-yard touchdown pass from Peterman to Nick O’Leary. The score was O’Leary’s first touchdown in the league as well.

& yet Peterman comes in and calls audibles at the line - kind of supports what we've all been saying.

I don't want to believe we have a QB who has the ability to both audible and deliver a strike in less than 5 seconds and throw into tight windows still sitting on the bench.

Knew this day was coming since preseason. And now it's here. I thought Peterman would get on the field after taylor got pancaked and carted off one day, not in the middle of a massacre. So the kid comes in and passes his way to a TD against a defense playing to prevent a pass scoring drive.

How many scoring drives were left on the bench with Peterman while taylor was out there embarrassing himself.

Compared to this debacle, Custer's afternoon at The Little Bighorn was mildly unpleasant.

While logically I realize a beat down could be coming today I'm oddly excited from an emotional perspective to see if McDermott can get this team to bounce back! Anyone else conflicted like that?

If we're being honest about it, this whole season should have been about evaluating what the new coaching staff had to work with going forward. The 5-3 start should just be icing on he cake. 4-4 would have been better for my cardio vascular system.

  8. Win or lose, this is the week we find out who this team, and the coaches, really are. To be honest, a game like jest 2 had to happen, and now we get to see if it's fixable before the season becomes a lost cause. Win or lose a close one and hope is alive. Dominate and the drought is probably over as there are realistically enough foreseeable wins left on the schedule. Get stomped and, well ... you know.

You guys are funny but I'm not taking the bait. And this board seems to have a very healthy obsession with Miami for some reason.

Look the Dolphins swept us last year just like the Jets and we barely beat them at home and got throttled by them in NY the other night. What should that tell you about a Dolphins team that is significantly better than the Jets especially on defense?

Also as I pointed out several times before, last year the Dolphins started 1-4 and won 9 of 11 with their only losses coming against the Pats at home and at Baltimore (where they were spanked like this years game). So even though they are 4-4 this year and in the same spot after 8 games, they are certainly trending more positively after not starting the season like last year.

If the Dolphins don't make the playoffs I'll certainly admit I'm wrong. Also still think spitting with them is best case scenario this year. Gase's team will be playing their best football of the season when we play them twice in Dec and Bills could be in the midst of an epic meltdown by then. If both teams are in thick of the playoff race saying these games loom LARGE is an understatement.

If you'd been around back at the dawn of time you'd understand the phish hatred. The obvious answer is if the Bills are in the thick of a playoff race by the time the phish come up then no melt down happened, this will definitely not be the same ole Bills and they will bury Miami. The die will be cast with the bolt game. 7-3 with the chiefs on  deck and the drought is probably over.

  10. Gotta like the Bills in the cold, rain and wind against the dome aints. The chargers don't scare anybody and KC is trending down. McD won't let these guys forget the jest game when they face the phins and the patsies*** will lose a couple of more (why not against the Bills?). The only one that scares me right now is the colts. It's the only Billsy loss left on the schedule.

There was a comment made on MNF that the coordinator calls a formation and Stafford then calls the play from several alternatives designed within it. This is not necessarily RPO but is similar to it and an interesting wrinkle.

But does Dennison have any faith in Tyrod as a play caller. Don't think so (and I don't think his boss does either).

Im interested to see why you think the bolts are bad.

After thinking about it I would change "bad" to vulnerable. Their three wins were against teams with issues along with a loss to a limping bronco team. Add that to more home than road losses and their next game being away and I think it's a chance for the Bills to get a solid road win.

  13. OK, just for arguments sake (as if there wasn't enough of that here already) let's say the Bills are demonstrably better at home than away. They get the win against the colts and the phins 2 away losses were ugly and we give the Bills that one too. The phin home loss was another stinker so the Bills get that one too. There's 3 wins.

Either a home game against NOLA or away against a bad bolt team makes 4 wins. (5 if there's any justice at all and the Bills take both)

Patsies*** are beatable on the road, and KC is due for a down game (maybe), but either way a 1 win here has to be a stolen one.

The only real long shot is NE in Foxboro. And if they can handle both NOLA and the bolts I think 10-6 is just as possible as 8-8.

  14. Went through some hard times in the 90s and didn't even own a computer till I came south for work in 98. Lost all my sources of Bills info with the move and came across the Bills web site (and BBMB) by accident.  As a computer illiterate (something I am to this day, and proud of it) never looked anywhere else for news and comment on my Bills. Lurked more than commented, I have no illusions about my ability to add much that's useful to the conversation.  Was shocked when BBMB disappeared but remembered folks using TBD as a reference source and wound up here.

You would do well to continue to actively self police your site as the number of crazies out there seems to be increasing exponentially. There were some good guys at BBMB (like Shaw and Teef) and glad to find them here as well. Those of you that put down and discredit the BBMB pedigree need to remember it ain't where you come from that counts, it's where you're going.
