  1. This is a great opportunity to play against arguably the best team in the NFL right, and certainly the hottest.  That said, a loss is no big deal which actually makes this weekend somewhat relaxing -- a win would be fantastic, but taking the expected loss doesn't hurt us much.  There's nothing but upside for us in this one.

Next week is a far more important game.

  2. Baltimore is probably the best team in the NFL, and there's no doubt that this is a tough game.  But 5.5 point dogs win about a third of the time, so it's silly to write this off as a sure loss.  It's pretty easy to see how we get a win.  Our defense does enough to at least slow down / contain their offense, holding them to 20-24 points, and our offense continues their upward trajectory that we've seen the past several weeks to score 24-27 or so.  We'll need to avoid turnovers and we'll probably need to take the ball away a time or two.  That's probably not how the game will go and if I were a betting man I wouldn't bet on the Bills straight-up, but it's not like it requires a flight of fancy to imagine them pulling out a tight win.  On a good day, with everybody bringing their A-game, there's nothing outlandish about any of this.

  3. The same way that we've been (fairly) faded for not being as good as our record indicates, Pittsburgh is nowhere near as good as their record indicates.  Yes, their defense is fine, but they're starting a third string UDFA rookie QB.  That alone will get you beat against most teams in the league.  And make no mistake -- Duck looked every bit like an UDFA rookie QB today.  His WRs made several outstanding contested catches against very tight coverage.  Those are high-variance plays and not a recipe for regular success in the NFL.  If our playoff hopes come down to a road trip against this team, I'm good with that.

  4. This was one of the most enjoyable NFL Sundays in a long time.  Basking in a win, watching other teams get knocked out of realistic playoff contention, and knowing that we can afford multiple losses the rest of the way and still stroll in.  This is a luxury we haven't experienced in 20+ years.

    Now let's get it done!
