Sammy - Time for this dude to start playing ball.

Fans gotta understand that Tyrod Taylor has only played ONE entire regular season game in his career so far, and is developing as he goes. Besides, currently this offensive scheme isn't setup to accord an elite QB to throw 3-4 TD passes every game. It could easily be setup that way but the team wants to be a run first team right now for obvious reasons We all know that the last coaching regime was so lame they couldn't figure out how to make Sammy the primary target, and instead even stated they used him as a decoy some games. This new coaching staff has the smarts to make Watkins the primary receiver, as we have seen with Anquan Boldin in San fran. Its just going to take some time to get the young QB developed properly, and allow him to grow at his own pace. Perhaps by the end of the season Tyrod will be finding Percy & Sammy 8+ times a game each, and he is throwing 3-4 TD's a game -

Yea, i said that too I think the OP is bummed because he took him in his fantasy draft, and started him only to see him get a 0 for the start. The OP needs to realize that this teams offensive scheme is designed to be a dominate run team with 30+ rushes a game and around 20 passes so the QB can just manage it. My advice is to bench Sammy until TT starts finding him on a regular basis every game. I drafted him in one league, and didn't start him. He sits until things change. -

Anyway you look at it its still three draft picks for one player! Two #1's and a 4th. I just don't see it any other way. -

From my point of view the team used the 2014 first round pick to move up to draft him, and traded away the 2015 first round pick along with a 2015 4th round pick all to obtain one player. That's 3 draft picks for one player. "The transaction ultimately broke down like this: The Bills moved up to No. 4 overall by dealing their 2014 first-round pick, No. 9 overall (one #1 pick), to the Browns along with first (one #1 pick) - and fourth-round (one #4 pick) selections this year. Those picks ended up being No. 19 and No. 115 overall after the Bills’ 9-7 season." http://bills.buffalonews.com/2015/04/28/was-trading-up-for-sammy-watkins-worth-it-what-the-numbers-some-pundits-say/ If the team didn't use those three picks all on Sammy Watkins, then tell me who were they used on? Does the team have another 1st round player from 2014 or 2015 hiding somewhere? -
TO, Biscuit and other Bills nominated for 2016 HOF

The one guy I would like to see get in more then anyone right now is Steve Tasker a 9 time pro bowl selection, and pro bowl MVP as a "gunner"!! Not as a KR/PR/RB/WR. Totally overlooked player for what he did for the game. TO 6 PB, Kent Hull 3 PB(one of my favorite players), Fred Smerlas 5 PB, Biscuit 8 PB, Troy Vincent 8 PB, Lawyer Milloy 7 PB, and HC Chuck Knox. First NFL HC to win 3 division titles with 3 different teams, Would also like to see Hull, and Knox get in with Tasker. Then Smerlas, Bennett at some point down the road. -

Last time I looked Sammy doesn't setup the game plan, or throw to himself! If you have one of the best offensive weapons in the NFL you should find ways to get him the ball. To me, it is disappointing that the team gave up 3 draft picks, 2 #1's and a 4th for a guy they use as a decoy or don't bother throwing to him because he is so well covered. I'm pretty sure opposing teams roll their coverage's and at times triple team players like Julio, Megatron, Dez, Antonio, Odell, Demaryius, TY, AJ and some of them even have bad games from time to time. But for the most part those players make big plays, and score a lot despite what opposing teams try to do to stop them! From a fantasy stand point when you have read that Rex Ryan has stated the team will run the ball more then any other team has ever run the ball, and that Greg Romans run game playbook is bigger then any other run game playbook in history of the NFL. Last game 19 attempts passing vs 36 rushes is doing exactly what the HC said they would do. You have to think that this years Bills team is not going to throw the ball 40+ times a game like they did last year. When you have Clay, Harvin, Watkins, Woods, and McCoy out of the backfield then divide 19 by 5 you get 3.8. Then if you break down the targets Harvin 5, McCoy 4, Clay 4, Woods 2. Felton 1 incomplete, Watkins 3 targets all incomplete. Those 3 targets to Sammy one was overthrown, one was tipped, and one was into good coverage. About the only way Watkins is going to be a top WR in fantasy this year is for TT to ignore all the other weapons and just throw to Sammy or should the team always get behind in points then try and play catch up by passing it. Another factor to consider is all the Bills WR's were out with injuries, and didn't see a lot of playing time in pre season for any QB to get in sync with them. Now granted Anquan Boldin has had 80+ receptions, and over 1000 yards the last two seasons at San Fran. So Sammy could possibly emerge as a dominate passing threat at some point, I guess we just have to wait and see. -
Defending the Ace Formation

This! That Steeler defense looked like a shell of what it was a few years ago with Dick LeBeau, Troy Polamalu in their prime. The Patriots have a concern-able lack of top WR's, and O line talent right now and are using smoke / mirrors to conceal that. Bottom line is can the Bills rush get to Brady within two seconds or disguise coverage's enough so Brady can't figure out who to throw it to. The Patriots can't go five wide because they don't have 5 WR's on their roster- Edelman-Amendola-Dobson, and someone by the name of Matthew Slater. Brandon LeFell is on the PUP until Nov. The Patriots offense is evolving into more of a TE system because of the lack of the star WR's the team has usually had. Gronk when healthy is pretty much unstoppable, and Edelman is another Wes Welker who always finds a way to get open, and the first down marker. Jam Edelman, and find a way to double up on Gronk. This is a chess match, and its up to Rex Ryan to figure out how to beat the master cheater. P.S. In this game I'm sorta hoping Hughes gets a few PF's for late hits on Marsha. Key word "sorta" because I'd rather see the Bills get a solid clean hit on the guy, and knock him silly. P.P.S I miss Kiko -
CONTEST: Guess First Offensive Play - Win a Hat!

Hand off to Shady left side 4 yards, 11 first downs -
Henderson was unbelievably bad against the Raiders last year when the Bills vying for a playoff berth. But then the rest of the team wasn't that much better. So many times I watched CJ Spiller get tackled behind the line of scrimmage, and when that happens its all on the line. Urbik was particularly bad in run blocking that game. Arron Kromer was supposed to fix these issues, and just maybe you can't make a silk purse...

good, let him fumble there

Yea I agree, and for the life of me I can figure out why the team just abruptly started throwing more then passing during that Chargers game. Then continued with that pass happy theme for the rest of the year.

My point was there are no gimmes in the NFL, and nothing is a given even against scrub QB's like Bortles or a bad team like the Jags. Case in Point, last year the 2-12 Raiders beat the 8-7 Bills who were vying for a playoff berth. That Bills defense ranked #4 stopped the leagues best QB in Aaron Rodgers, shut down Peyton Manning, and then choked against a rookie QB in Derek Carr. Last year the Bills had the #4 defense in the NFL, and led the NFL in sacks. They were an outright terror to most teams, and yet still got behind in may games. My point being is the Bills can get behind against any team, and then will need to change the offensive philosophy from running to passing. We really don't know what will happen once the Bills get a score or two behind. Lets also not forget that things will change once teams are able to game plan more specifically against a running QB in Taylor. Kaepernick stunk it up last year, and this weekend Russell Wilson was sacked 6 times by the lowly Rams who finished 6-10 last year. Just sayin on any given Sunday... Andrew Luck faced Rex Ryan's Jets in 2012 as a rookie and was crushed 35 to 9 by a 6-10 Jets team. Looks like Ryan just might have Lucks number with all the disguised coverage's he utilizes. The Patriots, Dolphins, have faced Rex Ryan's defensive schemes the last 6 years and recently defeated them. Things might go differently this week with Tom Brady who is used to seeing that type of scheme 2x a year, who knows. Granted, a new year with different players so nothing is set in stone just yet because there are still to many unknowns.

After Pats, AFCE is still a "trio of zeroes"
Nihilarian replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Patriots with three rookies on their offensive line facing arguably the best front four in the league against Buffalo. The Pats had one of the best secondary's last year with Revis Island, and he is now a NY Jet! The Dolphins have a boy named Suh! Things will be different this year! "29 post season games since the last time the Bills made the playoffs." Man 0 man I hope its Buffalo who ends Brady's career this week with a nice hard clean hit! Then lets see how they do the rest of the season with Jimmy Growpoopalo slinging the ball. -
BILLS Power Rankings, enter them here...

SB Nation has the Bills #6 http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2015/9/15/9326537/nfl-power-rankings-week-2-seahawks-packers-patriots -
I don't like to break up anyone's rainbows here, but there are no easy games this year for this team. Tennessee looked like a gimme before the season started and now Marcus Mariota looks like the best QB in the draft this year, and perhaps the best since Andrew Luck. Blake Bortles might be playing lights out by the time the Bills play the Jags. This first game the Bills played with a lead, and the defense kept the Colts in check all day after that. Playing from behind is an entirely different animal, and will certainly show every little flaw in the offense. Needing to throw every down is considerably different from running almost every down and then looking for a specific opportunity when to pass the ball. This years team doesn't have a powerhouse offense just yet, and although the Bills have a lot of weapons the team still lacks the knowledge that they have that supreme pocket passer that can make playing from behind work. The Bills O line looked very shaky with so many penalties, and lack of top run blocking on that right side. Things can change after a few games with some key player growth. Still so many unknowns about this years team on both sides of the ball. The Bills need to make the playoffs before I'll believe.

MNF : Eagles versus Falcons

I like Berman (how can any Bills fan not like him), and Trent Dilfer. Anyone else notice some the holes those road graders for the 49ers were making in the first half? I could drive a 18 wheeler thru some of them. Roll Hyde too! -
Clearly the board is being taken over by *pats fans
Nihilarian replied to Estelle Getty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Most Bills fans are by now genitally engineered to be skeptical about every win, and be overly cautious about every good game or season start. Recently the Bills started the 2008 season 5-1, and the 2011 season 4-1 only to see bad things happen to ruin a good start. 55 years, and 21 winning seasons equates to 34 losing seasons. -
A darn shame some of the younger Bills fans never made it to Rich Stadium during the late 80's, early 90's when the stadium actually had more seats, and held more fans. The noise level was crazy back then for the playoff games. I particularly liked the Raiders 51-3 AFC Championship, and the comeback games. I'm really hoping the Bills get to have another Championship home game soon so the current fans can feel the real craziness that surrounds a game like that.

While I agree that not having quality OG's the last few years is a big reason for all the losing seasons. Most fans agree that he wasn't worth what Tenn gave him, and yet the team failed to have a decent backup plan after they let him walk away. Bad teams do bad drafting and bad scouting. Just ask a Cleveland Browns fan. I could be mistaken but i remember reading that Buddy Nix would spout about OG's are a dime a dozen, and that you can always slide an OT to OG if needed. That sure didn't work by moving a tolerable RT in Pears to RG, as it looked like a complete disaster with the right side of the line all last year. I'm just glad that Nix and his ideas about the offensive line are long gone. Just the difference that LG Richie Incognito has made on the left side has been very noticeable, and might finally be a decent replacement for Levitre. Now if those two young players on the right side can develop into decent starters the team might finally have a proper line. Hopefully the Bills have moved on from the stupid scouting, drafting they did for so long.

I can recall a guy by the name of Bruce Smith getting a lot of off sides calls, and not many personal fouls tho. Perhaps Rex needs to talk to both the players and the league FO about the BS calls. The holding calls gotta stop as they are usually drive killers.
