  1. The Dallas Cowboys are a collection of individuals rather than a team led by an awful head coach who wouldn't have a job if it wasn't for Aaron Rodgers and a meddling owner who spent $2 billion or more on a stadium where you can't see in one direction due to the sun and punts hit the video screen.

Sorry for Diggs' brother but otherwise screw that team and their fans.

  2. Morse matching McKenzie stride for stride on the sweep to the right was a sight to behold.

From left to right, Dawkins appears to be finally recovered from COVID and back to the player we're used to seeing. Bates has been a revelation and shored up our weakest link on the line. The emergence of more pin-and-pull runs has brought out the best in Morse. Williams has been steady. And you have to think that every day that passes, those twin mountains of raw athleticism in Spencer Brown and Tommy Doyle are just going to get better and better.

Draft an IOL on Day 2 to eventually replace Morse and/or Williams whenever that time comes and I'd say we're in pretty good shape.

  3. It wasn't that long ago that some people were counting Singletary and Knox as wasted draft picks. After Allen, their performance this season especially down the stretch has been one of the biggest reasons for our offensive success (extending drives, winning the physical battles, etc.). You love to see it, Go Bills!

I have kind of gone through a roller coaster with this guy so it’s going to be a long response.

In Devon Singletary’s first ever game against (the Jets), he was the best player on the field. The guy was so quick and just made plays every time he touched the ball. He was the reason we came back from down 2 TDs and won that game. From that point on he was my favorite player on that 19 team. He became my aviator on here, I grabbed a jersey, and I spent literally every week complaining about Frank Gore. Frank Gore taking carries and touches away from Singletary is why we didn’t go further in 19. Nobody will ever convince me otherwise. It was maddening to watch a completely done, slower then molasses RB steal high leverage carries from the best player on our offense. It cost us the Houston game and just drove me nuts. My entire take away from the 19 season was, love 26 just needs the ball. The birth of the frustrating RB rotation.

Last year was very different. We never ran the ball and when we did, it was a waste of time. I started to question Singletary and while deep down I still liked him, it was almost like he was a completely different guy. I still think the scheme and RB rotation had a lot to do with it but some of it was on him. Sophomore slump, lack of touches or confidence…whatever it was, it was rough. And there were windows where I was more comfortable with Moss. Last year was great but not for 26.

Fast forward to this year. The guy put in all kinds of work in the off-season. Looks like a different guy and it’s almost like the job is there for him to take. The first 10 weeks we just refuse to stick to a guy. Constantly rotating these guys unlike any team I have seen. To the point where it’s every other drive. Just throwing 50x a game, Fans crying we need balance, people seeing Dabol just has no interest in even attempting to put effort into run play designs. Started to think every running back we have is just a lost cause as long as this is what our offense looks like.

Then, halftime at Tampa happens. The Bills finally stick to Singletary. The guy makes plays to spark the comeback in that game and never looked back. He’s not looking over his shoulder every play thinking he might be coming out. He’s actually getting the ball and in high leverage situations and paying them off. The guy is making play after play and has completely transformed this offense. It’s probably been the case all along that he was capable of this. There just had never been a time where he got the ball consistently. From halftime of the Tampa game the bills have been the best team in the league. And Devon Singletary has been a major part of that turnaround. I’m so happy for him and so happy that through all the adversity he came out the other side. Balance makes this team borderline unstoppable. We have had a RB all along. You just had to leave him on the field and give him the ball to notice. Better late then never. Go Bills!

Great post, well said! Hope Beane can grab a speed back in the mid/late rounds with some receiving chops to sprinkle in/provide a change of pace and we can roll with Singletary and said draft pick going forward. 70/30 snap ratio or so.

Where else would you rather be?

Someone had to say it.  Or maybe they have a few times, but I'll repeat it.

    In order:  Barmore, Mills, Wynn.

But each is a pretty big deal. I think Barmore is the biggest disruptor on the line, and out of the 3, the most difficult to replace.

Interesting, he's a great player, but I would have ranked them as Mills, Wynn, and then Barmore last. I just think the Patriots lack CB depth with Jonathan Jones already out and now Mills too. Instead of Myles Bryant being the only weak link in our previous matchups, now it's almost like JC Jackson and Devin McCourty are the only strong pieces left in that secondary with Dugger being banged up and NE missing two of their top three CBs. I love the matchups for our WRs.

Then Wynn as it either forces them to break up their vaunted right side (when they get into their six-lineman run sets) of Brown and Onwenu to switch Brown over to LT or they'll have to play Justin Herron there. He's not a bad player and has some starting experience, but either way it messes up their continuity in the run game which is the driving force behind their ability to score points.

I'd have Barmore last only because I thought we did a pretty decent job limiting him in the first two contests (plus I think we've finally found our best O-line combo) and I think Barmore will still be limited from his injury. Can't imagine trying to play on a bum leg in those temperatures...everything's going to hurt a little extra.

In any case, Mills and Wynn being declared out is significant. I expect Barmore to play, but not at 100%. Go Bills!

I mean, every team tinkers with the injury reports. You really think all the Bills are 100% healthy and injury free right now because ours is clear?

Adding players that end up playing really isn't much different that not having guys on there that are injured, missing practice time to "vet rest" "Illness-non COVID" or such.

Of course this is true, all professional sports teams are going to try to find every edge and gain a competitive advantage.

The way Belichick has misused the injury report consistently for over a decade has gone well beyond that IMO...how many other teams this season have listed 13 guys as questionable in a given week and/or repeatedly given the same rating to players with big differences in their injury severity (for example, Isaiah Wynn hasn't practiced in two days and David Andrews has been listed on the injury report with the same shoulder injury since Week 13 (December 7th) but played in every game).

The Patriots have also lost the benefit of the doubt with this kind of thing...it's not the biggest deal in the world, but it seems like the NFL should figure out a way to prevent teams from using the injury report in this way.

Haven’t seen it anywhere, they have said it on sports radio (George & Max and Zola’s & beetle) that they have heard he is playing threw numerous injuries. It wouldn’t shock me if he was hurt but since he wasn’t limited in practice it wouldn’t show up.. (also explain that HUGE glove on his hand last week) I could also believe he hit the rookie wall I mean 17 games plus 3. Pre season.. that’s a lot more than what he is use to..

I said “pretty good” because IMO there are no truly elite or great D’s in the league this year. IMO all of them have an Achilles heal and against the wrong matchup can be exposed. Like IMO the Titan are your D’s worse matchup.. with a great run game and 2 very good WR they be hard press to stop them. Now I can be wrong but that’s my opinion. :)  (FYI doesn’t mean your team couldn’t win just that I think be very high scoring.)

Thanks, interesting about the Mac Jones injuries/ the glove on his hand, surprised it hasn't been picked up by the national guys as a talking point yet. And yeah very tough for rookies this year to be facing the new 17 game schedule plus preseason and playoffs, has to wear on guys like Jones, Barmore, and Stevenson who have gotten so many snaps (a really solid draft class IMO). The Bills are probably able to deal with this better than most with how much our defensive and offensive lines have rotated so our top four picks will hopefully not hit that same rookie wall.

I agree with the bolded point above...no 2000 Ravens-type defense in the league this season (there aren't most seasons to be fair). Power running teams like the Titans or Colts (nice one Jacksonville!) are better suited to attack our defense and I get a bit nervous when you guys bring Onwenu in as the extra lineman on the right side and run sweeps behind that 700 lb wall of Brown/Onwenu. I still think on a relative scale though that the Bills defense continues to be underrated by most especially now that the defensive line rotation seems to be peaking and Harrison Phillips has been playing the best football of his career.

Surely something has to be done by the league to combat this weaponization of the injury report. It's been going on for so long and I could be wrong, but I don't know if any other team does this. A questionable designation is supposed to mean that a player's status is 50/50, but I'd bet 80% or more of the Patriots questionable players wind up playing and starting the games. Fully expect all but one of these guys to be ready to go on Saturday (Wynn if I had to guess).

Typical Patriots move (aside from the actual scandals over the years)...it's not technically illegal but it is against the spirit of the rules.

Fans should always have faith their team will win.  That said if we had Brady back there and had lost 3 of the last 4.. I’d still expect to crush any team we faced! That said we don’t have Brady, we have a rookie who is supposedly playing threw numerous injuries and still an unknown asset for the long term.  Meanwhile the Bills have an established QB who no matter whose list is too 7 in the league with a D that is pretty good.

In all honesty the Pats are like what Big Ben said of the Steelers. “ we suck and they are great so we just need go out there and have fun.” Aka all the pressure is on the Bills..

Honest question...where have you seen that Mac Jones is playing through several injuries? I ask because I have been reading/listening to Bills vs Pats content all week and I haven't seen or heard this anywhere. I was under the impression that most people agree that his recent decline in play is due to hitting the rookie wall and/or opponents starting to get enough film on him to begin taking away what he does best.

Also, I appreciate the majority of your contributions on here (I like the debate and think it's a good thing when non-troll fans of the opposing team are active on this board), but I have to disagree with your comment about the Bills defense, " a D that is pretty good." The Bills are the #1 scoring defense and the #1 total defense as well as an elite passing defense (#1 by a relative mile). Both of our defenses have struggled vs the run to some extent, but the Bills rank more favorably at 13th in rush yards per game and 11th in rush plays per play. The Bills have managed to accomplish all this even without their All-Pro CB Tre White for a large part of the season and despite only finding the best rotation for our defensive line 3-4 weeks ago. Doesn't matter what opposing fans really think in the end (or Pro Bowl voters for that matter), but the stats don't lie.

That’s a different statement.  You said that he was throwing the ball just fine.  No…..he wasn’t. 50% completion is not just fine.  It’s poor.  Just because he can throw the ball with velocity doesn’t mean our passing game was fine.  It wasn’t fine.   He wasn’t “fine’ vs the falcons or jets either.

the pats run D is trash. Much worse than ours.  Why would we not at least attempt to run?  In that first patriot game, we didn’t have a viable heavy set.  We used Sweeney on 13 plays and he’s terrible. Expect more running this sunday with Doyle taking Sweeney spot in the heavy set.

Great point on that last part...getting Doyle more snaps over someone like Sweeney has been a really underrated factor in the improvement of the run game IMO.

I try to watch Spencer Brown and Tommy Doyle (on his limited snaps) as much as possible when re-watching the games. Given the projects/raw talent they were meant to be, the fact that we are getting this level of contribution from that pair is really impressive. Elite length and athleticism, I've enjoyed the finishing moves after the whistle as well!

dumb question,  but remind me why this led to us getting Allen?

To summarize the link above, the Bills basically started out with the 21st (our pick) and the 22nd (KC pick from the trade back in 2016) picks in the 2017 draft. Beane traded the 22nd pick and Cordy Glenn for the 12th pick (swap of late rounders as well). Then on draft day, Bean traded the 12th, 53rd, and 56th picks to Tampa for the 7th and 255th picks, landing Josh Allen at #7 overall.

Here's what happened to Cincy's side of the trade as well...yikes: "Meanwhile, the Bengals drafted Ohio State center Billy Price with the 21st overall pick. This trade ended up being a major mistake for Cincinnati. Price started 19 of 42 games in his first three years, had lost his starting job entirely by 2020, and had his fifth-year option declined by the team this offseason. Glenn played in 19 games over the next two seasons, ran into arguments with the coaching staff, and was released after 2019."

  10. Per Mike Sando of The Athletic:

"Most wins against teams that finished above .500:

    8: Titans

    7: Chiefs, Bucs

    6: Bills, Raiders

5: Colts, Packers, Saints, Cardinals, Cowboys, Chargers, Dolphins."

Very interesting stat I hadn't seen before and with two main takeaways in my eyes:

    1) The Bills tied for the third-most wins against plus .500 teams across the whole NFL...seems to conflict with the narrative that we had a cupcake schedule and never played anyone good. I'm definitely not saying it was a tough schedule, but I think the slate of opponents looked like the easiest list we had faced in years before the season started and then they wound up looking a bit stronger as the season went on.

    2) No Patriots on that list despite the fact that they faced an even easier schedule than we did.

  11. My Keys to the Game:

Bills on Offense- Be ruthless in going after Myles Bryant again as he's the clear weak link in their pass defense. Use Mckenzie and Beasley especially on crossers where they can gain separation and YAC. Keep feeding Singletary as the lead back and use the pin-and-pull runs that have been so effective over the last quarter of the season.

Bills on Defense- Maintain gap integrity and don't overrun the play versus the run. Also, the Bills did a great job limiting Hunter Henry in the last match up (Matt Milano!), but I think he's the key to NE's passing attack. Has been great on third downs and in the red zone, Jones loves hitting the TEs over the middle off of play-action.

Good OP @PatsFanNH, should be an interesting rubber match!

    One thing I'm curious about:

Where the hell did the Pats pass rush go?

It was pretty non-existent against the Bills in the most recent meeting, but I wrote it off to Belichick asking the d-line to play contain against Allen instead of getting up field. But then the pass rush continued to be non-existent against the Phins, and now I don't know what to think. Add to this the fact that Barmore likely will not play, and this becomes the matchup of the game to me. If Belichick can manufacture a good pass rush and make Allen uncomfortable, the Pats win. If he can't, and it's more of what we've seen the past few weeks, Bills win handily.

Good point...Judon was an absolute monster earlier in the year, but I was surprised by his lack of production and even effort at times in our last meeting and in subsequent games against other opponents.

Always thought Uche was going to be a good one for them as well, but I think he's been hurt a lot.

Yeah the Bills score the most and allow the second least points, impressive combo.

I think the other main takeaway here is that we would ideally want to face the Raiders in the first round. A -68 point differential from a team that plays indoors and has to travel across the country with Derek Carr at QB...you'd love to see it.

It's one of my favorites and competes with some 18 year olds.

Go for it and let me know what you think.

Why do people hate MNF?  Do you have to work nights or something?  Or go to bed early so you can't see the whole game?

What's not to love about "playoff weekend" lasting an extra day?

You'd rather have no football on Monday night with the whole thing already behind you for another week?

    I want more football.

On the whiskey front, I'd recommend Redbreast 12, Midleton, and The Quiet Man as excellent Irish whiskeys and Hibiki for a Japanese whiskey. Still more of a bourbon (Woodford Reserve) man myself, but those are all fantastic.

As far as MNF goes, the five hour time difference is a killer for me as the SNF and MNF games start at 1:25 AM here and usually finish around 5 AM. Means booking a half day off the next day at minimum and still being pretty wrecked (can't rebound as well from the all-nighters as I used to!). I mean I've done it every game this season and I'll continue to if we get the primetime games, but yeah the 1 PM and 4 PM games work better for me and a few of the other posters that live abroad. I can appreciate that the night game atmosphere is pretty awesome though and would love to be there live for one someday, I've only ever been to the afternoon games throughout the years.

  13. Inevitable breaking news two weeks after he's hired by the Jags...

"Former first rounder OT Austin Jackson traded from Miami to Jacksonville in exchange for the Jaguars' next 25 draft picks."

In case you can't tell, I'm still raging that BOB gave Miami ALL the draft capital for Laremy Tunsil. Luckily for us, the Dolphins seem to have mostly squandered it away.

Nope - want nothing to do with him myself.  He has talent, but can’t stay healthy and adds little to the backfield the majority of the time.

I would rather see Cordarrelle Patterson by far than Penny.  Patterson is on a 3 million contract - can play RB and WR and can run some of those gadget plays and he has been remarkably healthy across his career playing all 16 games most years and 15 games a couple of times.

Let Penny get overpaid by some team for limited production and a guy that will miss between 5-8 games a season.

YES...get Patterson on this team ASAP. Great fit in our offense (speed, versatility, durability, and YAC) and I think Diggs has already been trying to recruit him.

For a guy who has bounced around and played well on a few bad teams (most recently Chicago and Atlanta), you'd think he'd be getting to the point of his career where Patterson would want to play for a contender as well. A win-win for everyone.

Thanks for the rankings as always Yolo! You have to give some credit to the cap dollars/resources used on guys like Tyler Matakevich and Taiwan Jones, but regardless, Heath Farwell has proven to be a great hire and a damn good special teams coach. Probably doesn't get talked about enough, but it matters. In addition to the ST rankings above, the Bills lead the NFL in starting field position.

I also look at some of the younger guys he's helped to develop like Siran Neal and Reggie Gilliam. Damar Hamlin has really stood out to me this year as well, a rookie / late round draft pick with very limited special teams experience in college who I've seen make numerous tackles on kick and punt coverage in 2021.
