I disagree this is what good teams do. They find good players at a discount. And his problems are all off the field issues. If we did sign him I can't think of a way we wouldn't be a much better team.He's a force on the field, but after signing Incognito I doubt we'll be bringing anyone remotely that questionable into the locker room
Incognito + Hardy at 9m is way better than Hughes and Incognito at 12-13m

I think we should sign him over Hughes.
I have heard about him signing a one year "prove it" deal. Forget that, give him a 4 year deal at 7m a year with 18m guaranteed. He has his issues but he is a monster,only 27 years old ,and by all accounts a good teammate. Why Would we give him a 1 year deal when he is not going to be a problem and will produce big#s. We would get a top 5 DE for a huge discount. Let Rex worry about the PR. Moves like this will greatly improve the team and allow us to get a couple more players like Revis or J Thomas.

Get rid of EJ and sign 2 young qbs for like 2m each,and let them fight it out.
Like Hoyer and Sanchez for example
Sign Revis to a 4 year 12m/py contract 33m guaranted.
Sign Justin Huston to a 5y 65m deal 28m guaranted.
Trade Leodus for a 5th rounder. Saving us 4m
Then sign Greg Hardy on a one year prove it deal for 5m.
Then sigh Jordan Camron for 5y 28m
Get a good RB in round 2 or 3.
And O-line with at least 2 picks.
That defence would be like ALL time great. I think Hoyer or Sanches could go real far with D like that. Who would score more than 20 points against us?

#1 sign both Locker & Matt Moore to compete with EJ for starting QB.
#2 Let Hughes walk & sign Greg Hardy for half the price on a 1yr prove it deal.
#3 Cut Keith Rivers & Sign David Harris to play next to Kiko
#4 Resign Spiller & Go hard after either Ap or Demarco Murray.
#5 Sign one of the top FBs available Felton, Hynoski or Kuhn
#6 Cut Urbik, C Williams and sign Boiling, Iupati and Rt Parnell from the Dallas kid is a beast can be had for cheap.
#7 Resign Searcy
#8 Sign either Jordan Cameron or Julius Thomas also add Te from STL Lance Kendricks, These 2 signings would give us a excellent 3 TE set with Chandler, Kendricks and either JC or JT.
#9 Draft best player available in all rounds. If WR Doran Green Beckham is available I would take him at #50.
With these moves the Bills will be ready to compete for division right away. All these moves wouldn't be mind blowing big money signings. Yes Iupati, JT or one of the rbs probably cost some dough but the rest of the guys can fit in nicely into our cap.

If he wants best Defence ever . they need to sign Revis And Huston to big deals and have Hardy on a one year prove it deal. With Revis and Gilmore taking opponents top 2 wrs 1 on 1. We could have 3 guys with 15+ sacks. Maybe 4 with Dareus.
Then draft a rb,a te,and a guard. if we could get to 17-20 ppg on offence we win 12 games easy, with that D

I feel like we have a good core group of guys. So if we took the risk of taking on some guys with questionable character, We could fill spots with some studs who are jerks. Would people here like if we signed Hardy on a one year prov it deal, and Incognito for the league min. And maybe give AP a deasent deal for say 5m a year. If the bills did this they could still sign Revis and have the room for Dareus next year. And be in good shape to sign best player available in the draft.

We won't be able to find a good qb this off-season. So spend the money on impact players. I started a thread talking about getting Revis and J Huston last night. Lets spend on two all pro players to make this D the best in the league. I would gladly spend 25m for Brady or manning, hell even Roethlisberger. But it isn't going to happen.. Spend on top players now. And I don't trust spending big on offence. Do u really think spending 30m on J Thomas, a top guard, and a top RB Would be worth more that J Huston and Revis?

If we are will to give 10-11m for 10 sacks. I'd pay 15m for 25 sacks. And it's a reall possibility he could do that. That 3-4m more is a bargain for 10-15 more sacks.Law of diminishing returns my man regarding Houston. He's nasty, no doubt, but that extra 5 or 6 million can go a long way somewhere else and be more valuable than the difference between Houston and Jerry (or someone else and possibly a 10M or so difference).

Y not sigh Huston over Hughes? If people are willing to give up 10-11m per year for Hughes, y not spend 15mpy to get a huge upgrade. He is a olb. Not a DE, and he fits our scheme better than Hughes. Add 2 players that are all pro types to this D would be insane. And Revis and Gilmore have the potential not to be best cb duo in the league but best cb duo of ALL TIME!!if Hughes gets huge benefits from playing with that line, think what Huston would do in the same spot. He would put up career #s.we could shut down any team. And with whaley drafting for offence only, we should still upgrade our offence. I Think they are going to stick with what they have on the. O-Line. If that's true my plan makes even more cents.

What if we let Hughes walk, then sign J Huston AND Revis to huge deals. We could give them both 13-15m.then just draft for offence the next 2 years.
Rex would have a wet dream. Think about it Revis and Gilmore take out every teams top 2 wr's. Then we can blitz on every play.
If we draft half way decent, we could get our offence to average 17-20 ppg. With that Defence,that would probably be enough to win 11-12 games. Its bold but I really like it.
And next year we restructure Mario's contract and still sign Dareus.
Not saying they would do it, but if they did what would your feelings be?
Ii also think J Huston and Revis would love to play with this Defence and make top dollar. They could prob get mega deals elsewhere, but on crappy teams. Buffalo has a Buzz right now. If they can't find a good qb(and i believe their are nun available) then have the best Defence in the league. And talk about pegula making a splash. We would be the talk of the league. I can hear Cowhurd talking about us already.

How much will J Huston get? He is WAY better then Hughes. I half think they should sign Revis and Huston to mega deals,and just draft for offense the next 2 years.. With Huston and Revis, we could put Revis and Gilmore in single coverage. And send the house on every play. Maybe the best Defense ever?

I would never give Hughe's 12m...that's crazy... We can find a middle of the road guy to get 7-9 sacks with who els is on the line. Revis is the best corner in the game period. And as a bonus we get to pare him with Gillmore for a year.

Just an aside that may or may not be relevant to this conversation but the Bills LOVED Revis when he came out. They had narrowed it down to Marshawn and Revis in that draft. They thought that "he had a little thug in his game" in a good way.
You are probably talking $12M a year for Hughes on like a 5 year deal (5 years $60M) and maybe $14M a year for Revis on like a 4 year deal (4 years $56M). I would guess that Hughes would get about $30M guaranteed & Revis $26M maybe? Again these are just guesses but you can see why it would be 1 or the other.

I like the hire..when he had a talented team, he took a rookie qb to the championship game TWICE!! They mortgaged there teams salery big time. Then they drafted terribly. I like what Rex can do when he has talent. But the Bills are going to have the same decision. Stay the corse, or mortgage there future for two good years

How much will Gillmore want? If we are going to give Gilmore 10m a year, y not just give Revis 12m now and have both of them for 1 year. I'm all for letting Huges walk.. Y pay him 10m when we could draft a 3rd rounder to get 6-7 sacks.hell if Wynn played the full time last year, I'll bet he would have had 9-10 sacks last year

I think he is a free agent after this year. He is playing lights out. We could cut Mcelvein loose, and save some $. Rex and Revis love each other and would be scary

I've been saying let cj walk and sign AP if he becomes available. Give cj 3mm? I think we could sigh AP for 6mm and he has proven to carry a team with crappy qbs. We need a rb who can consistently get 1st downs. Cj isn't that.

Is pegula himself sitting in on the interviews? If he's not in their I don't see how it helps. I would like to know who from the Bills is in the room during these interviews.

U think Larry is done? He has played with the worst group of QBs in the league and he is still a HOFer. Ocho was stupid, couldn't understand the playbook. LF won't have that problem. If he went there he would put up huge #s. Look at what lafell is doing. And they can afford him if they want to.Brady cleared 24 mill himself next year. The team might even get LF to restructure his deal to play with a HOF qb..just seems like a move the patriots would make

If there was a way to trade for Cam I would jump at it, and would feel optimistic about next year.with EJ I won't feel the offence will be any good. So I guess that's how I would differentiate between the two.

I know,I'm in the minority but I don't think what he did was enough to stop a promising carrer.he was young and in a crazy relationship.I'm definitely not defending what he did , but I will give him a second chance.my guess is he goes on to be a great player without any more legal issues. Sometimes kids need a wakeup call. I hope we give him that second chance and get a discount.he is going to play somewhere. Y not with us.
