  1. Not too bad... I thought ep. 1 was really pretty good.

The start reminded me of Alias and figured the guy was gonna get it as soon as he said "I love you." I thought was going to be wrong for a little while, though.

    Episode 2 spoiler:

Episode 2 started with a dead old guy who's a newborn, covered in blood and with umbilical cord was still moist, all due to rapid aging. The guy's father dies later, but his hair turns gray. Either that hair has to grow really fast and long or you leave it dark. Turning it gray while keeping it short is not even close to believable.

The other thing is the secret files Agent Dunham had at her home would put her in jail. I have worked with secret documentation and you never bring stuff like that home. You don't even keep it in your office without a secure container that gets periodically checked by security.

IMDB spoiler for the first 13 episodes:

Crazy old guy is only in four episodes. He's great!

  2. Just wanted to draw attention to some excellent game planning and execution from last week.

Watching the tape back of the Jags, the first TD of the game by Lynch was brought about by good personnel choice, and great blocking.

The Bills came out Single Back (Lynch) - TE Left (Royal) - Twins Right/weak (Z=Evans H=Reed) - X Left (Hardy)

This looks like a definite passing situation on first down, so the Jags are in a Nickel D, with the free safety shading the weak side. Jags DL is up on its toes for the rush, in an even (maybe over) front.

That sounds like the formation that Kelly/Reich used to run the counter. And most other plays...

  3. A Pats* fan at work came by yesterday and said something similar about how soft our schedule is even compared to theirs. They go west just about every time they play a west coast, it's on the west coast. Here's theirs:

    3 Sep 21 MIA @ NE W (3-0)

    4 Bye

    5 Oct 05 NE @ SF W (4-0) I don't think they're that good...

6 Oct 12 NE @ SD L (4-1) SD is a long way away, and SD will need the game more

    7 Oct 20 DEN @ NE W (4-2) Denver gives NE fits

    8 Oct 26 STL @ NE W (4-3)

9 Nov 02 NE @ IND L (5-3) Sanders ought to be back and the rest of the team should be healthier

10 Nov 09 BUF @ NE W (6-3) This may well be a must win for NE

11 Nov 13 NYJ @ NE W (7-3) Pats* always seem to win the second game...

    12 Nov 23 NE @ MIA W (8-3)

    13 Nov 30 PIT @ NE L (8-4) Stillers look tough

14 Dec 07 NE @ SEA L (8-5) Seattle trips are not easy

15 Dec 14 NE @ OAK W (9-5) Another west coast trip. If they win against the Seahawks, they lose here.

16 Dec 21 ARI @ NE W (10-5) A must win for NE, and the Cards may be resting starters with no hope of a bye and no competition in the division

17 Dec 28 NE @ BUF W (11-5) Bills rest starters since they locked up the division 12-4, but lost home field at Denver, the previous week.

  4. Why would Mike Shannahan go for two at the end of the game against the Chargers? He probably wanted to just stick a fork in San Diego. But the 2-point conversion struck me as Shanny saying "okay, we got a break...but I'm giving you chance to take it away, San Diego." Am I just imagining things?

    PTR

I think you're imagining things. :flirt:

If my D had allowed that many points, and their D was just as suspect, I'd go for two, too! Throw in the probability that SD was still distracted by the fumble that wasn't, and the question becomes why wouldn't you go for the kill?

  5. So he's right. We're 1 for 3 converting short yardage on the ground.

Thats been a problem for us for awhile now. We're seemingly more likely to pick up a 3rd and 1 or 2 by throwing than we are by running.

As long as we're successful I don't mind passing. You take what the defense gives you. Once defenses adjust to the potential pass, the run will open up.

  6. I liked this one...

Matt Cassel became the first player in NFL history to start a game without having started one at the collegiate level. The Patriots seem to have the right personal to rally around this inexperienced pivot. Are we looking at the next Tom Brady? We shall see.

Right off the top of my head - Eric Swann.

  7. He did add this in his thing he thinks he thinks:

So it's OK to hate him a little.

Don't hate! He's right. The 49ers average 328 ypg and the Bills average 311.5. That puts the 49ers at 14th and the Bills at 16th in the league.

The stat I really like: through 2 games, the Bills have allowed only 5 of 27 3rd down conversions (18%), behind only the Iggles and the Ravens, who both played only one game against a weak opponent.

  8. I think MC can be decent if not even good with that team he has around him. I am most puzzled by the Pats*' reluctance to bring in another QB even if just as a back-up Right now, they only have MC and a rookie. That's dangerous ground when you consider how many hard hits Brady seemed to take each week.

    Patriots sign Gutierrez to PS

WEEI had an interesting discussion about the timing of the Pats bringing in Simms and Rattay. They were in on Saturday, before the injury, and were likely in to replace Cassel since O'Connell is the new development project...
