  1. per Bucky Brooks. Whoa, that's a lot of hype coming our way. Same for the Jets and Dolphins though ...

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000493967/article/seahawks-jets-and-eagles-among-nfls-most-talented-teams

I saw him tweet asking for who people thought were the top-3 for this article...I chose Seahawks, Bills, 2-way-tie Cowboys/Packers.

I try to remain as unbiased as possible when it comes to my sports teams now, but I fully and truly believe this. And if they had a legitimate QB, they would at least tie the Seahawks, if not beat them out, in my honest opinion.

Stories, polls, opinions, etc, are all nice and everything...but, how's it go, "just show me the baby?" :flirt:

  2. Just some interesting stuff I have found on Roman...opinions seem to be all over the place. I find it interesting this article calls for quick passes and screens, when Roman's offense doesn't really do that, especially screens.

In 2013, Roman's offense had 5 (FIVE) screen passes through 13 (THIRTEEN) games!!!

    http://www.csnbayarea.com/49ers/screens-dont-fit-part-49ers-power-game

Here is a more recent article talking about...

    http://blogs.mercurynews.com/kawakami/2015/01/12/greg-roman-goes-buffalo-ending-term-egregiously-scapegoated-49ers-assistant-years/

"Roman had overall offensive responsibility with the 49ers, but again he was largely presumed to base everything on the power run game, which is one reason the 49ers so rarely called screen passes or general misdirection. Screens and misdirection are set up for quicker, mobile linemen and more finesse-style offenses that get defenses flowing one way or the other, then counter that with the misdirection."

Here he talks about the screen game and how it might not work because of Kap's athleticism, maybe with Cassel/EJ it's different?

    http://www.ninersnation.com/2014/7/26/5940543/greg-roman-talks-screen-passes

Now...I think a lot of it had to do with his personnel. He didn't have a RB like McCoy, or a weapon like Harvin. As good as Crabtree and Boldin were at times, they are not Watkins and Woods, especially in the screen game. It also makes me wonder, as I have been one who didn't like the John Miller pick due to his size, if that is why they got him because he can move, giving them a pulling guard to set-up screens, unlike Iupati, who was a big mauler and did not exactly fit that "finesse" type of game.

I think Roman learned a lot from that experience, and that is why the offense is being built differently...here's to hoping it works!

On offense - I am extremely excited to see how Karlos Williams develops, he's just as big, but faster and stronger than Carlos Hyde, who looked very good IMO. I am also excited about the WR/TE group, as I don't remember the last time we had that much talent.

(On defense - I am really looking forward to seeing how guys like Randell Johnson, Cedric Reed, Ross Cockrell and the safety group turn out. I think there is a lot of good, young talent there...and I think Johnson could be a stud in this defense. Reed too.)

  3. Great job, Ryan...excellent write-up.

The play against Sean Smith is downright dirty, and really makes you wonder why people think he's not a legit WR?

    Here's another look at it...

    That's a 6-3, 220 lbs, 2nd round, 2014 PFF All-Pro CB in Sean Smith...he's no joke.

Here's another good video...I'm sure it's been seen before...

I know people hate him, but I would love to have Richard Sherman on the Bills...love his attitude, love his physicality/size.

(Percy just might have his best season yet.)

  4. Lmfao, did you hear the announcer..."maybe his grandpa taught him this!?!?"

Yeah, I am sure an 80 year old golfer taught this kid how to run somebody into the ground...Grandpa Jack must be a real thumper on the gridiron.

  5. So they are gonna trade one of the best DL in the league because they aquired a DL rookie who has not played a down.....

See THIS is what makes the bills better on D....we dont trade one good DL for another.....we STOCKPILE them

Ummm, the Jets have too...but they pay $13 million TOTAL for Williams, Harrison, Richardson and Wilkerson.

Meanwhile, the Bills are paying Mario Williams $16 million ALONE.

It remains to be seen, but Gilmore is the only one of those three that'll get crazy money. Bradham should be relatively cheap given how the position has become somewhat devalued.

Glenn is a LT...they get more money than CB's. (Or at least they used to, and still should.)

  6. Thank god somebody is saying this. People are discounting the first rate job Schwartz did with the defense, which vastly imporved the run defense (the Bills were one of the worst in the league against the run under Pettine) without giving up pressure on the quarterback. Pettine was running Ryan's defense with all the exotic blitzes. I am not confident that the defense will be as good this year.

And a major component of that vastly improved run defense, the #8 ILB vs. the run, Brandon Spikes...is now gone from the team.

  7. I know that this is going to sound made up here but Hogan smokes cigarettes. I'm not a fan but it's true (at least when he is drinking). My buddy (and diehard Bills fan) ran into him in Vegas like 2 months ago. He asked him for a picture and drunk Hogan told him to "eff off." Ha ha, I thought it was hilarious.

At any rate, a lot of these guys go to Hookah bars occasionally. It's not a big deal at all IMO. It probably wasn't too smart to put out that video but I'm not concerned about the act. We aren't far from the league lifting the ban on weed all together and then this will be totally harmless.

So did JP Losman...he asked me for a lighter once outside PJ Bottoms when I was visiting a friend at school. Lee Evans was with him, don't think he was smoking though.

Hookahs are no big deal...nothing illegal, not nearly as harmful as cigarettes.

(I ran a smoke shop in Myrtle Beach, SC, for 2 years...at least it's not bath salts or herbal incense, that stuff is deadly.)

PS...This IS "totally harmless," because it's not weed. (But I get what you were saying...and actually, weed would be even less harmful than tobacco.)

  8. I stopped at the 1'30" mark or so, when this idiot Jim Turner effectively suggested the profession of lawyering is rooted in lying.

He's a really bright guy, Jim Turner.

    Said no one, ever.

    Wrong.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/amitai-etzioni/lawyers-lie-with-impunity_b_864824.html

"Readers should note that lawyers feel free to concoct any theory they want and make any statements, true or false, that will help their clients when talking to the media."

Floyd Abrams, an eminent lawyer, wrote in The New York Times that in our current climate, we should not be surprised when lawyers state things that "have nothing to do with the truth," because we should know that they will say anything that might help their client. It's like sitting down to play poker -- one should expect the other side to bluff.

  9. He's still the best RB on the roster. It sounds crazy to say that now, but you'll see midway through the season when he's outplaying mccoy.

LMFAO, that is hilarious...gotta love the kool-aid drinkers.

One more time...the team already tried to get rid of Fred Jackson, but the owner had to step in to save his job.

And again, he may be a better RB than Brown and Williams right now, but they are way more physically talented than Jackson is, and that is a fact, not an opinion. There's a reason these other RB's were drafted, and Jackson had to jump around leagues until he got an opportunity from an alum from his alma mater.

I want more physically superior athletes on my football team, that is how you win...not keeping 34 year old's simply because the fans love them. This is the problem with Buffalo sports, people fall in love with a player and never want to see them leave, even when it is obvious their time has come to move on, and more talented players are waiting.

Nobody wanted to lose Jairus Byrd, and look what happened when he left, the defense got better...same with Kiko Alonso, the defense was better without him on the field.

I want to build this team up to be competitive for the next 5 years, and Fred Jackson does nothing to help the future, especially if it means cutting a younger, more promising RB.

  10. That was basically their starting line. Those guys weren't blue chip prospects. Terron Armstead I think was the year after Kromer but he falls into the same boat as a player. The guys that Kromer has developed are more about skill set than pedigree. The guys that the Bills have are a little bit of both.

Yeah that's basically how I feel as well.

I'm trying to think of the "project" guys in New Orleans: Evans, Nicks, Strief, Bushrod...right? Anyone I'm missing?

    Ooh: de la Puente

Evans - 4th, Nicks - 5th, Strief - 7th, Bushrod - 4th...that is where they were drafted. (Armstead was a 3rd round pick, De La Puente was undrafted.)

He should definitely be able to help out such talented players like Kouandjio, Henderson and Richardson...and that gives me a lot of hope, after seeing this.

  11.

"One player who should get a lot of attention as a potential priority free agent is Tyson Chandler (6-foot-5 3/4, 331 pounds), and for one reason -- his arms. Coaches today believe that long arms are the most important thing in the development of an offensive lineman, and Chandler's arms measure 36 5/8 inches. Chandler also ran a 5.40 and 5.38 in the 40. He had a 4.84 short shuttle and 7.99 3-cone drill. He had a 27 1/2-inch vertical and 9-2 broad jump. And he had 31 strength lifts, which is really impressive for a guy who's got arms as long as he does."

I still think the best of the UDFA's would have been Jermaine Barton, and I really wish he would have passed his physical. (Former U of Miami recruit/player.)

Here is an article about Barton and his contributions to helping his team reach the FCS Championship game.
    http://www.pjstar.com/article/20150108/SPORTS/150109332/10930/SPORTS

Here is an article about his potential as a professional offensive lineman...
    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000481517/article/two-illinois-state-prospects-could-be-rookie-free-agents

Offensive lineman Jermaine Barton (6-foot-6 5/8, 332 pounds) could not work out at the pro day because of a left knee operation that took place in February. Barton has nearly 36-inch arms. Some team will come back and take a long look at Barton either before the draft or after (as a free-agent possibility) to see if the knee is healthy. Because of his length -- scouts drool over big offensive line prospects with long arms -- a team will see if it can make a developmental project out of him.

I hope they still have interest in him and check back once he is healthy...he could be a diamond in the rough with the right coaching.
(That is the kind of size I love and wanted in the draft.)

  12. Could also replace Booby Dixon on the roster too because of his ST's availability , especially if he is a better runner than Booby which it seems that he is by his college tape ..

    Bye Bye Booby !!

He is more talented, but to say he's a "better runner" than Boobie...at least based on college statistics.

"The modern SEC workhorse back — for those under 30 years old — is Mississippi State’s Anthony Dixon. A nice player, Dixon accumulated nearly 4,000 career rushing yards for the Bulldogs in four years not by being the most explosive or talented back in the SEC, but by amassing a whopping 910 carries, second all-time."

    http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-football/all-time-sec-workhorse-rbs/

  13. Karlos Williams has better measurements than Carlos Hyde, who the Bills tried to trade up for with a 2nd round pick.

He is bigger, just as strong, a bit faster...and he compared to players like Gurley, Blount and Bell.

I will keep saying this, as far as *overall physical talent* goes, it is, in my opinion...

    1. McCoy

    2. Williams

    3. Brown

    4. Jackson/Dixon

(They set out to make every position better 2 years ago, and that is exactly what they have done, at most spots...especially RB, WR, TE, CB...aka "playmakers.")

  14. Brandon Spikes was the #8 rated ILB against the run last year, the same year our run defense was much improved. It's baffling why they haven't brought him back, it's not like signing him would hurt their chance at a compensatory pick, which is a stupid idea anyways. (He's going to help more than a 6th round pick next year.)

I would think he's the kind of player that Rex would love to have on his defense.

He recently tweeted, "Heart in one place, mind in another," right after he visited New England...he wants to be in Buffalo, but money might be available back in New England.

  15. I made a similar comment on their Facebook page...

    My exact comment was:

"This is what Patriots* fans are doing now? Making a website of teams that had some players use steroids back in the 70's? Lmfao. Yes, that should really prove everyone wrong about them Patriots*!"

    And...I was blocked. Lmfao.

PED's, the injury report...none of those are even close to what the Patriots have done with Deflategate and Spygate. Bountygate was not even close to this...NONE of these things are going to change the outcome of a game, like spying and deflating footballs could change a game. Apples to oranges.

  16. I have dreams that the following could be drawn as comparisons:

Miller a poor mans Bulaga at Guard.

Karlos Williams a version of Antowain Smith but more athletic

    O'Leary = Jay Reiemememrmemmemrshhammmaaaaaaa

D Lewis = Justin Armour (I did not realize he was a HC in Colorado, and that he played basketball @ Standford where he was recruited as a QB by Bill Walsh)

    Steward = Chris White.

In a way I hope Darby doesn't see much playing time this year because everyone else is just playing that much better.

Oy! Those are some low dreams, brother! Lol. I'll take the Miller comparison, I hope he is even half as good as Bulaga.

    Karlos Williams? Shaun Alexander.

    Nick O'Leary? Chris Cooley/Dallas Clark.

    Dezmin Lewis? Marcus Colston.

Tony Steward? I think he could be better than Chris White, but not in this defense...White is much bigger too I believe.

    Some thoughts

How ANYBODY thinks O'leary DOESNT make the team to me is baffling......Mackey award winner this past year and runner up in previous seasosn

Regardong Miller......body fat is extremely low for a OL....yet sill 310 pounds and makes up for not having 20 pounds of blubber by being physically strong......let the NFL trainers get with him and you will proably see a very in shape 315 pound OL before too long.....keep in in mind only 6'2.....he is biult like a fricken bowling ball

Oh, I didn't say anything about O'Leary...I love the pick, not long ago (before Clay) I wanted him in the 3rd round.

As for Miller, again, it's the size thing. I just wanted a huge mauler. There were several other O-linemen I wanted more, but at least we got one.

(I do think the Bills, and every other team, will really regret passing on Michael Bennett from OSU...he could be the steal of the draft.)

  17. Barring injury I think they all just might make it.

CB Darby - I think he'll eventually rise to the #3 CB on the list behind Gilmore and McKelvin. That might force the Bills to consider Graham as more of a safety because he's too good to not have on the field. On a scale of 1 to 10 (regarding his chance of making it with 10 being the best chance) - 10.

OG J. Miller - The Bills love his size and strength and ability to finish. He may not start right away, but he'll be in the mix at OG behind possibly Incognito and C. Williams. On a scale of 1 to 10 (regarding his chance of making it with 10 being the best chance) - 10.

RB K. Williams - Watch some of this guy's highlights. Not only is he big for a RB, but he's very fast. I expect him to make his mark as a rookie on ST though. On a scale of 1 to 10 (regarding his chance of making it with 10 being the best chance) - 9.

LB T. Steward - Very fast and athletic, but is raw. His only chance is by contributing on ST. On a scale of 1 to 10 (regarding his chance of making it with 10 being the best chance) - 7.

TE N. O'Leary - He looks more like a FB to me when you look at his body type, but he knows how to get open and has great hands. He's also very, very tough. Because the TE depth is weak he's almost a shoe-in. On a scale of 1 to 10 (regarding his chance of making it with 10 being the best chance) - 8.

WR D. Lewis - This guy may turn out to be the steal of the draft. He's tall, lanky, and very fast. He's a real weapon versus smaller defenders. He's not well known because he played for little known Central Arkansas. There were scouts that considered him to be a R4/R5 pick. If the Bills keep 6 WRs (which they are prone to do) it will be a battle between Goodwin, Lewis, and Hogan for two spots because you know that Watkins, Woods, Harvin, Easley are likely to make the final roster. Goodwin's speed is enticing, but his durability is a big question mark so I could definitely see Lewis beating him out. I think hogan has the edge on both of them because he has proven to be a reliable possession type receiver and a good contributor on ST. On a scale of 1 to 10 (regarding his chance of making it with 10 being the best chance) - 7.

It would be hard to knock our 2015 draft if all six drafted players make the final roster, especially with how deep it is at most positions.

    You thoughts??

I agree for the most part, except two things...

    1. It's hard to imagine the Bills "love" Miller's size (6-2, 305), given the size of guards Roman/Rex used on the 49ers and Jets.

    2. Tony Steward is not "very" fast, running a 4.64 forty yard dash that wouldn't have even ranked him in the top-10 LB'ers at the combine.

Those are the two picks I do not like, at all. It is mainly the size for me, both are extremely undersized for their positions.

(Then again, my ideal players/size for these positions were LG Tre Jackson (6-5, 330) and OLB Lynden Trail (6-7, 270)...so I guess it's not fair to compare them. Lol.)

I'd keep them all, besides Steward...I just don't see where he fits into this defense. They can upgrade his spot, very easily.

  18. Based on production? My pick would be Kyle Williams.

Based on the feel-good story and sentimental value of it all? The popular pick there would/will be Fred Jackson.

(EDIT: I do agree with Moorman, he consistently produced on the field and in the community...and was the only pro-bowl player the Bills had for how many years?)
