...would be economic suicide for them to attempt to go heads up in an NFL market.............

Agreed- i think even trying to draft off of NFL teams- like the XFL appears to be- is not the best way to make it work. Make your own mark in a new market

I don’t agree. The most important sports market in the us in the north east and they have no teams there. They exist to make money. You are going to want to put teams in a place where you have the highest chance of attendance and interest.

I think you are reading the wrong tea leaves. The AAF wants to be in football crazy places without NFL teams. They want to be the only game in town. Orlando loves football of any kind and if the team is good it will have a loyal following soon. I would expect the same of San Antonio also. The Apollos are now Orlandos pro team.

Yeah, these receivers suck. I've seen more receivers hit in the facemask with the ball today than I have the rest of my life watching football. If a ball is close enough to hit you know the face, should be a catch.

I think they all make 250 k. Same non-gaurenteed contract for every player, I heard.

The orlando sentinel said all players get 3 year $250000 contracts so 80+ per year. Or about same as CFL i believe.

  4. This post makes me realize just how little i watched this year- Harris would have been my lowest TE and Suh would habe been my highest DL. My picks though would be saffold , WR williams, TE cooks, jordan phillips- who i think is good rotation guy and Juwan James .

I think it’s viewed as a developmental league for those struggling to make or stay on an nfl roster. But same rules as far as how long you need to be in college prior to playing (3 years)

Does cfl have three year rule also? Where does a guy go if he does not want college but wants to be pro?

These guys aren't even practice squad caliber. Practice squad players in the NFL make $130,000 a year. AAF players are paid around $83,000 a year.

I will disagree with you and will point out that to many guys losing 40 grand to show your abilities and potentially make a million is worth it. Also showed during game- more UFA in NFL than any round besides first. First impressions can change. BTW " your a damn fool Happy" love that movie as does my 13 and 8 year old who have seen edited versions.

Funny but the officiating seems better.

Officials on the field seem like the better nfl officials from what i saw- the AAF is far superior in review. The lady in orlando explains her thoughts and told her helpers to find a angle that shows her something different or it stays. I have enjoyed games so far.

My overall opinion is except for QB play this league represents mainly rotational NFL talent. RB and WR seem like talent wise equal to most 2nd stringers- could be Bills recievers this past year. Hopefully not next year.

As long as it makes us feel better about it as we sit here and wait for the 2024 Seth Wickersham breaking story about the 20 years of Patriots cheating, resulting in them vacating ALL 6 Super Bowl victories.

    Its gonna happen bro.

I know your post is sarcastic but i was surprised they did not take away the first three of Brady. It made the entire sport look bad. As does the fact since the Pats* "stopped" cheating they have gotten better.

It would be absurd if there was another reason to look at him. McVay wouldn't have even noticed being stared down from that distance.

One thing you can be sure of is that Belichick in that situation isn't wasting time with something irrelevant. He's doing this for a reason and I can't think of another good reason to find McVay on the sidelines.

Tells don't have to be tiny little things like the trembling of an eyelid at the poker table. Maybe he makes eye contact with one coach if it's a run call and another if it's a pass, for example. Some things might be very easy to see from  far away.

You make a valid point- he might be reading body language or something like that. I read it to mean we were reliving spygate where they used methods that are cheating.

I think I might have less respect for Belichick than you lol

What a competition that would be! How would be determine the winner?

  10. The problem with the officiating in the NFL is they often call what they expect not what they saw and it is often extremely inconsitent. It is not a conspiracy to point out that last season i had no idea what constitutes a proper catch. It is not conspiracy to point out that some rules and more strictly enforced than others. And it is not conspiracy to point out that in a 3-3 game in the 4th qtr that call had a huge impact. I do not think OP was calling it a set up but simply pointing out the only worse officials are in the WWE.

Just watching every play to show up the officials

should stop watching sports if that is the prime reason to watch

I agree with you- i have watched much less NFL the past few years because of the officiating being atrocious. Why watch something where the most incompentent people on the field are in charge?

I have never seen a questionable call go against New England at a critical point in a game. Just sayin...

It does not have to be never to be valid because on  balance it is about 4 to 1 close calls going their way. My father in law is a pats* lover and loves to point out how eagles one td last should have been overturned. It is the only one he has but he is right.

Bad offense is sometimes created by great defense.

Brady was pedestrian because #SonofBum had him confused.  Almost perfect defensive game until late in the 4th Q.  He didn't have an answer for Edelman and it showed, though.

Goff seemed dazed and confused because he was.  Belicheck** does that to young QB.  He's lucky he wasn't picked 3-4x.  There's more justification for saying "bad offense" where the Rams are concerned.  Indirectly and politely Romo was calling them out for it by the 2nd half "go away from your tendencies here"

We are not disagreeing that much- I give Rams D credit for plan and execution but at no point do I think Pats* D did more than put it into Goffs hands with the knowledge he is not smart enough to beat them. Good team make the weak link beat them but Goff was very weak.

  13. I have no problem with great defensive games but this seemed more about bad offense than good defense. Goff was awful, Brady was pedestrian, the running backs were not even average, and Edelman was the only reciever on either side who did crap. The defenses were good but 16 combined points is more due to offenses sucking than defenses.

No, the Niners / Chargers blowout was worse.  San Diego was dead before the end of the first Quarter.

Also Niners blowout of Denver was a joke.

Seattle's destruction of Denver also not entertaining.

Plus the First Bills/ Dallas super bowl was excruciating.

More fun when it's actually a contest, even a low scoring one.

I had forgotten about this one- i already voted damn.

Nailed it, the venom that some former players get is not warranted.

Good guy, professional, made some jaw dropping plays, played with heart (like when he willed a win against Tennessee), helped break the streak.

He was limited but some of the stuff you hear is really over the top.

You amd me are on the same page- i did not even mention some of the absurd athletic plays he made.

  16. Someone stated earlier that they like 3rd round picks which i agree with. I would generally prefer 8 picks from 30- 100 than 2 from 1-20 simply due to more likely to hit on 25% of top 100 than 100% of top 20. I am basing this exchange rate on what top ten draft picks usually get.

Doesn't matter if she killed his family. Screw context. You never hit a woman lest ye be banished for life. Sarc off. It was totally out of line to hit the girl when she was down, but the woman doesn't appear to be an angel. She was also charged in the incident for what it's worth. Where he really effed up is hitting her more than once when she was on the ground, but he did gain control of his emotions enough to go back into break it up mode. That was apparently his initial role. He was charged with a crime, as he should have been. At what point is enough enough when it comes to demonizing an 18 y/o for life?

I truly agree. 18 year olds do DUMB stuff and if girl he hit was not blacked out he did not hit her to do damage. If he does again he should be done but situations matter and saving your sister is one that gets special consideration.
