  1. I know people still use cable and cable-like streaming services but I much prefer having to shell out for a fairly cheap streaming service than having to pay for full cable when a game is just on ESPN.  OTA is free and carries most games and the occasional $6 or whatever is better than a $60 a month cable bill with channels I don’t watch.

I have a question about the 53 number. Before the last game, someone posted up the roster of who would be active for the game, divided by position. I counted up all the names and came up with only 48. Anyone care to explain this?

You’re confusing active roster (53) versus game day roster (48).

Due to the stupid rule of only two call ups per week and all the injuries we suffered, we need them for LB, CB and WR. They probably told Lenny this and he requested his release.

Before COVID, there were no call ups allowed.  You had to add someone to the active roster first.  So it could be worse.

Only thing that makes me nervous is Beane hasn’t proven to be the best WR talent evaluator. Maybe it’s not all on him and it’s highly possible our carousel of coordinators have been less than stellar in their passing game concepts as well, but outside of grabbing an established talent in Diggs his track record at the position isn’t exactly inspiring

He did a good job bringing Beasley and Brown over.

"Resting" uninjured players is a loser's mentality IMO.  You play to win games.

I also wouldn't want to be a coach that prevents a player from reaching a bonus or incentive.

People will rush to say Bradley Chubb!  Well, an ACL on the brink was going to tear inevitably, whether it was in that 4th quarter of the Ravens game or the 1st quarter of Sunday night's game.

I don’t think that’s how ACL tears work.

They were a wildcard team last year.

Yes but they actually had something to play for - the coin flip thing - and still rested players.

I think the line would be more pits way if they truly knew.  Baltimore does have really seasoned backups though and Huntley is much better than mason rudolph straight up so who knows

I mean remember that Dolphins game a couple of years ago? The Bills destroyed them despite it being important to them but not to us.

    Two ways this weekend.

-Beat the Pats.  Two of the following three lose (Steelers, Bengals, Jags).

-Beat the Pats.  All four lose (Texans, Colts, Steelers, Bengals).

The second is wrong.  You can tell because it is in conflict with the first option.

First string ProBowl is not a joke. Being named an alternate and then making the ProBowl because 5 other guys declined is a joke.

Dustin Hopkins may be All-Pro K this year. He is on his fourth team after the BIlls gave up on him.  He was OK with Washington but now is having his best year of his career at age 33.

I don’t think they gave up on him. If I recall he got hurt right before the season started and they had to scramble to find a replacement in Dan Carpenter.

I'd also add that McD also went through 2 OC's, 1 DC, a special teams coach, and a WR coach in the span of what...just over two years?

I don’t think that attrition is unusual.  He also had the same DC until just this year.  Even though he and Daboll don’t like each other, losing an OC to a HC position is not a stain.

Even before he went to KC, Reid won a hell of a lot more than McDermott has.  He reached four straight NFC Championship games.  And he was eventually fired, despite a level of success far exceeding McDermott's, after which Philly finally got "over the hump".

I believe he got fired after a 4-12 season.  Let’s let this season finish before making a decision.

Let me be the naysayer who gets smacked around for a divergent view...

I like Dunne.  And he says he talked to 25 people for this article.  That's an impressive number.

But I wonder who he talked to and which ones he quoted?  Coaches who were fired?  Players who were cut?

It would be nice if he sought out a random sample.  Both McD detractors and fans.  But he seemingly didn't do that.

I'm not arguing McD is perfect and doesn't do any wrong.  I just don't think Dunne's article is the final word.  We've heard a lot of players talk about how much they love the culture of the Bills.  Things aren't all bad.

It would help if didn’t seem to have an agenda against McDermott from day one.  I suspect it dates to how McDermott got Whaley replaced.
