  1. Evans has had trouble in press coverage which scares me a little. With that being said he could be a beast in the redzone and has great hands. I too think that Evans will be on the Bills roster at the end of the night (if I had to pick a player). That would be a really good selection IMO, not a home run but a really good selection.

Of course, coverage is often press in red zone defense. Need to create that separation before you are free to get a jump ball.

  2. I think Martin is likely at 9.

If they pull an amazing first round trade move like they did last year to move up for Watkins and don't have to give up next year's first, or if they move back a few spots and pickup another second and still get martin or ebron, my hat will be off to DW.

  3. In related news, after perusing mike Evans twitter, he is looking for suggestions on a novel to read. He says he has never read a full book before. LOL.

I'm going to tweet at him. Heard of a good one. Something about a cat who wears a hat and gets into all sorts of wacky, mischievous adventures.

  4. One thing I loved from last season was no matter what players were on the field the team was aggressive. For years we saw timid play when a starter was out and that used to make me so angry

    .

Totally agree. I saw that mainly on the defensive side of the ball. I hope that attitude continues without Mike Pettine at the helm. Still bitter about losing that guy. Schwartz will have almost all the same guys back (except Byrd) plus some healthy additions. This will be a telling season for me of how much coaching and coordinators particularly mean to our team. We already saw how much they improved from Wanny to Pettine. Hope Schwartz is a guy they rally behind also. And I hope EJ and the entire offense are less timid and play like Mario, Kyle, Kiko and Co. But agreed, saw a lot of improvement in attitude and getting after it this past year. That's gotta continue to grow.

  5. Glad to see this. It's encouraging, and I hope his teammates are buying in. IMO the biggest thing the Bills have been missing over the years is that killer instinct that comes when you have absolute confidence in yourself and in your teammates. Seems like so many times we would be up by a score and we just needed to put that one more on the board to put it away, but we couldn't go for the throat and we'd let the other guys back in the game. Or we'd be rallying, within striking distance, and we'd almost realize that we were about to go for the win and we'd blow it. Great teams know how to capitalize on those moments when they're in front of them and go for the win, not just being happy that it's close.

Really hope EJ is that guy who will lead that attitude, and we see more games like the Jets at home last year. We got up, and we stayed up. The Jets made a play, and we responded and shoved it down their throats on the next play. The defense would make a big play in a sack or turnover, and the offense would immediately respond and score. When the team knows how to take advantage like that with offense and defense complimenting each other and building off each other, going for the throat when the other guys are on their heels, that's how you dominate football games. Again, here's to hoping EJ can help rebuild that winning attitude!

  6. Which is exactly why I don't want Donald Trump to be the owner of the Buffalo Bills. I think everybody knows that a perspective owner could probably find a more lucrative deal than they would have in Buffalo. We need somebody who realizes this, and doesn't have a history of cashing in his chips. Sorry, I just can't believe anything Trump says with is mouth.

I am relieved that Jim Kelly is being courted by numerous possible owners for the team. I would really hate my feelings about Kelly to be tied with my feelings about Trump. Of course, if it comes to that, I will live with it... but I am certainly not rooting for it.

    Hear, hear.

  7. I think a patch will probably do the trick. The blacked out jersey does look hard though, but I agree that Ralph's passing isn't the reason to wear one. The players are there to play the game, not attending the funeral. It would seem a little off color if you ask me. No pun intended.

They probably wouldn't wear two patches in the same season, but I think it would be cool if something is done to show support for JK. I guess it doesn't have to be on the uni's, but I hope the stadium has some "KellyStrong" signs or something along those lines. I think the "(insert city/individual/cause here)Strong" mantras are a little cliched at this point, but some type of sign of support would be cool.

  8. I'm sure people won't believe me, but here goes.

Being from New Jersey, I have a good friend who works in the music industry. It just so happens his boss is a good friend of Bon Jovi's. Long story short, he called me yesterday to tell me he heard from his boss Bon Jovi and his Toronto backers have put their bid in for the Bills and it's for 1 Billion.

Now I know no one on this forum has any reason to believe me, and I don't expect you to. However, I have no reason not to believe my friend, as his connection to Bon Jovi is real and something I've joked with him for years (I hate his music). I rarely post on here and have no reason to make this up. Anyway, like I said believe it if you want.

My real question to everyone is this though, assuming this is true. Do you think 1 Billion is enough to get the Bills? Is this a nail in the coffin, or is 1 Billion not enough. Thoughts?

Well. Hope not. Just thinking about it... wouldn't that be an awfully awkward 7-10 years if the team played in Buffalo while JBJ prepared to move them? Wonder what those seasons would look like... hope I don't have to see it.

  9. actually we do. i'm currently scouring the los angeles county pennysaver for similar examples of this brand of yellow journalism. last month those morons erroneously claimed that jerry butler only achieved 842 yards from scrimmage in the '81 season -- totally ignoring that 1 yard rush he had, bringing the total to 843. idiots.

trust me, they received a sharply worded rebuke from yours truly posthaste.

I'm really glad I looked at this thread now. This was by far the funniest thing I read all afternoon. idiots.

  10. It would be strongly opposing the use of "strong." Holy hell can't anyone be original anymore. Everything is "nation" or "strong" and its nauseating. How about developing some creative strength. And no, I'm not going to because that's not my role and I didn't start this. I think cliches and monikers are moronic. How about letting the collective actions define the community's name. So rather than Buffalo being "Buffalo Strong" or it's just Buffalo but the term connotes the qualities everyone would prefer to define. Buffalo is not strong or resilient. Economically we continue to decline. Socially we continue to segregate minorities and concentrate the impoverished. We lack strong leadership. We lack originality. And yet we take any minor victory and try to use it to show we're on the rebound, when all data pointing elsewhere. And mostly, like the responses to this post will be, we lack thick skin to accept the reality of our reality and instead chose to construct an alternate false reality based on some stupid slogan.

    Talking proud, talking proud.

  11. I have said before that I would sell my soul to the devil to see Buffalo win a Super Bowl. Trump ownership would be just that. I wouldn't bat an eye, we have been through enough and shouldn't feel guilty at all.

I could never ditch the Bills just because of an owner. I dislike a lot of people's politics, but I'd be hard pressed to find someone I abhorred enough to make me abandon the team. Maybe the Koch brothers. Not just a loud mouth sideshow of a presidential candidate. Go Bills forever.

  12. I hear you on this and it is a valid concern - but - there are a few things that are clear about the man: Number 1 is he likes to make money. Number 2 is he likes to be in the spotlight. He will make money in Buffalo. Gobs of it. Not just on tickets, merchandise and TV/luxury box revenues but I understand he will get some huge tax breaks. Moving the team will be a risk and how many yachts DOES he need to ski behind? Number 2 is a good/bad scenario for Buffalonians - the bad is being , perhaps, the first owner based in London or Canada (now that I think of it...yawn...what makes Canada so "special" to Donald??) Or , perhaps, being the LA "savior"? On the good side, winning a Super Bowl and getting a SB ring? Priceless! So, I am ambivalent, yes, but I am intrigued by a Trump ownership.

I believe being the first international owner in NFL history is the kind of groundbreaking thing to put him in the spotlight he might desire. Of course he's going to say he wants to keep them in Buffalo now, because he's smart enough to realize, as most on here have pointed out, that he's locked into Buffalo for at least 7-10 years regardless. Yes he'll make money in Buffalo, but he'll make more money elsewhere. A whole lot more. Again, as many have pointed out in previous threads, when you factor in more than just ticket sales (TV revenue, marketing/merchandising profitability, etc), Buffalo comes up just about dead last in terms of overall profitability and national exposure. But as you say, it still makes a ton of money, so it wouldn't be much of a risk to move anywhere else, because every NFL team makes that much $. Pretty sound idea to make a lot more money by moving actually.

I'm not in his head though, so who knows. I just feel his tune may change after 7 years, especially if we haven't won or at least gone to a superbowl in that time. I can see where some of his big time persona may be a plus for the franchise, and I can also see where it would be a major negative. I could see this guy growing to hate Buffalo and Bills fans. Again, pure conjecture. On a selfish note, I'd really rather not have my NFL team universally despised by my friends and coworkers because of who the owner is. Where I work and live, it's safe to say the Donald is universally legitimately disdained or just though of as a complete joke. At least now they usually want to cheer with me for the underdogs! :D If we sucked AND were hated as bad as good teams that have earned haters... well I guess that wouldn't be shocking luck in the life of a Bills fan, actually. <_<

  13. I hope you feel the same way when Trump whisks the Bills off to another city because Buffalo can't afford "his" team. To me Trump is the fox trying to buy the hen house, and the some of the chickens think he's there to save them.

Have to agree here. Just can't see him wanting to keep a team in WNY. When the time was right, he'd look to make the move. Whether to LA, Toronto, London, etc because it would be the biggest, hugest, most luxurious franchise in the NFL, and he'd want it in the biggest, hugest, most statement making city it could be. And as far as day to day business of how the team/organization is run, promoted, marketed, etc... You think Ralph was a meddling owner? Think about this guy for just another minute...
