Byrd stated that he followed the rehab protocol as instructed. As you noted it is a tough injury to deal with. Byrd and the training staff all are very aware of how tricky the injury is. If you get ahead of yourself and get too aggressive in your training you could end up aggravating the injury and then again have to start the rehab from the beginning point.

As I stated in a prior post Russ Brandon was asked about Byrd's status. He said that Byrd was being diligent with his rehabbing and doing everything he could to get back on the field. He expressed no indication that Byrd was deliberatedly delaying his return as an expression of his contract disappointment.

It's not in Byrd's interest to prematurely return to the field. It is also not in the organization's interest for him to prematurely return to action. If he reinjures himself to the point that he is damaged goods then how does the team next year value him from a contract standpoint? No one comes out ahead with him playing hurt.

Byrd has stamped "SUCKER" right on your forehead.

Well I DO agree with you but also I would like to point out that Gailey was the HC AND OC.

Hackett is officially the designated OC and I believe these plays are drawn up by him. I think the OP was trying to say to take a look at a "few" of Gailey's playbook and not the playbook as a whole.

Then again, Hackett should take a look at ALL NFL coach's playbook, cuz this stuff he's drawing up is for sure not working.

I'm not one of the guys asking for Hackett's early retirement (which we know won't happen anyway) cuz I like the guy's energy, but he really DOES need a better approach. At LEAST, at the VERY least, change the damn running plays.

(Voice in background) If you fix the run, the pass will come.

Well, they sure aren't going to talk about Takeo Spikes, London Fletcher, Shawn Merriman, Travis Henry, the good ole days, Lawyer Milloy, etc.

We're in the present and these are the topics at hand. Though Gailey can be forgotten at this point I agree...

Actually Gailey wasn't really a HC... He didn't even know what his defense was doing. He was an OC that had a title of HC but only did OC duties.

What is people's fascination with Gailey. His offense was figured out about a third of the way through the season. Yeah he used screens well, so what. How does every forget how stagnant and terrible our offense was once teams started pressing our WR's and taking away the quick hitters, which were the only ones FItz could do consistently? The offense was absolutely stopped in its tracks once teams got physical with our WR's.

B.c these couch coaches forget the last year that was played. They cannot even remember last week I bet. People already think Hackett is bad b.c they do not know what they're talking about. Simple as that don't forget you don't need an education to be a Bills fan. What's good is threads like this weed out those people that you know are full of shyt and makes it easier to ignore their future crap.

He is a Buffalo kid that played his tail off every practice and every game and I know I speak for many when I say I hope he gets another shot somewhere to contribute.

Insert just about every bad player that ever tried out for the Bills ever. Yea we know you guys like swell guys which is why Fitz was allowed to hang around for so long.

  5. The real problem with this team isn't Stevie, it's Andre reed. Can you believe how he lost his cool 600 weeks ago and threw down his helmet, getting a penalty at a critical point in the game. Ridiculous.

Wide Left owes you his gratitude for saving this thread... Well it can't be saved but it makes the trip worth it.

That's a pathetic attitude. If you can't find in the top 6 of a 16 team conference, you have no business anywhere near a playoff game.

And pre-season is far from useless.

2 preseason games is enough, don't blame me blame the Bills organization for the 13+ playoff season droughts. That is what you should be calling pathetic.

Giants were not a top 6 team yet they made it to the playoffs b.c the division is horrible and ended up winning the Superbowl. I bet you didn't think about that did you.

  7. 7 teams per conference? So adding two more crappy 9-7 or 8-8 teams? And only one team with a bye in each conference? Horrible idea.

I'd rather they keep the pre-season games than turn the playoffs into the NHL (where at least you play a 7 game series so the crappy teams that squeak in rarely advance).

This is the only way the Bills might ever get at making the playoffs. Preseason is useless anyway.

  8. A rookie playing every single defensive snap, and making plays despite a secondary that will allow QB to throw early. The kid will end up hitting a wall they all do but I am more impressed then I ever thought with his play. The Run defense will come in time as for now making turnovers is the best you can ask of any player. Also has he had many penalties called on him? I don't remember which is a good sign also.

I will say they are consistently calling odd calls this year, while almost never calling holding---at all. Perhaps it is a new emphasis by the NFL (call less holding: protect QB.) Call more hands to the face (prevent concussions?).

never said they did great, did I? But they were not as awful as everyone made them out to be. They were certainly no worse than the regular refs.

They weren't? That is odd since they actually did do worse. Calling a punt inside the 5 a touchback? You forgot that? How about everyone screaming for the refs to call holding or PI penalties? How quickly you forgot... You want things to change b.c you think the Bills will win if we have crappy refs that don't see our players messing up. Guess what it won't matter, Jets set a record number of penalties and the Bills still lost. Only wanting bad officials so you can hope your team doesn't get as many penalties isn't a good reason. You basicly want a ref that only calls penalties for the other team.

  10.

I preferred them as well. It seemed the networks had it out for them before they officiated a game, while completely forgetting that the "regular" refs were worse. Now we get the "hands to the face" and no holding calls at all, even when the holding prevents a QB hurry or sack. Not sure what is going on, seems worse this year than ever.

Yea replacement refs did great... How quickly you forget.

huh, what, where, when why? do you actually have something coherent to add to the conversation? what evidence have i given you that i'm a fanatic? you're posting on a fan message board, like me. what does that make you, an accomplished gentleman?

You are a fan like everyone else including me right? If not why would you be here... Fan is short for fanatic so no fan like the refs. Even Pat fans think the refs are out to get them. Your ref thread doesn't really need amazing answers, just the correct one.

You must be new here to complain about the refs.
