D614G has been the dominant variant since March.

    https://medicalxpress.com/news/2020-06-mutation-coronavirus-infect-human-cells.html

Strains of SARS-CoV-2 with the D614G mutation have grown to dominate over time. Data from GenBank, a repository for the genetic study of viral samples worldwide, found no SARS-CoV-2 sequences containing D614G in February. But by March, the mutation had appeared in one-quarter of all sequences, and by May it appeared in 70%, the team noted.

Person to person is almost every case, but being inside can't be good.

So that means it is mutating to be more contagious and virulent,  and by nature should burn itself out naturally through herd immunity eventually? If it is this contagious we should reach 70% community exposure pretty quickly no?

I am just amazed at the fact that it is mutating to be more contagious and virulent at the same time. Everything I have read about viruses is that when they mutate they pick up either one attribute or the other, not both. And that when they run into a lack of hosts, they mutate to be more contagious and less virulent, not both.

  2. Originally saw this in Epoch Times, didn't post the link because of the paywall. Here is an excerpt:

The CCP Virus has mutated, and the new strain now spreading in Beijing is allegedly more infectious and more deadly than the previous strain. This is according to data released by China’s CDC, which posted three sets of virus sequences, all of which carry the mutation known as D614G. According to Caixin, previous research has shown the mutation could make the virus twice as contagious, and that it may make the virus more deadly as well.

Similar claims are being made by researchers at the Scripps Research Institute in Florida. CNN reported the researchers “believe they have shown that the new coronavirus has mutated in a way that makes it more easily infect human cells.” Scripps Research virologist Hyeryun Choe said in a statement, “Viruses with this mutation were much more infectious than those without the mutation in the cell culture system we used.”

Here is a link to a variation of the article, although it does not mention the China connection...

Most White Americans don't know anything about this event in 1921, or found out about it from an HBO show last year.

    What Rally?

Did Biden hype up the crowd size for a week?  Did he promise that it will be like nothing you have ever seen before?

    I'll wait

Exactly. He is in cognitive decline, and cannot last more than 20 minutes delivering a prepared speech in a tightly controlled environment, forget about a 2 hour rally in front of thousands of people. Could he even draw a crowd of a thousand?

**IF YOU ARE WHITE AND THINK SYSTEMIC RACISM IS A MYTH, GO WATCH THE NETFLIX DOCUMENTARY '13TH'. ITS FILLED WITH VERIFIABLE FACTS THAT WILL FINALLY OPEN YOUR EYES & ITS MAINLY TOLD BY WHITE PEOPLE. HERE IS A SHORT ONE MINUTE CLIP **

Many whites become uncomfortable with giving any sort of thought that their country isnt the squeaky clean 'Home of the Free' and 'Greatest Country on Earth' that they want to believe it to be. I wanted to get the ALL CAPS info out first because many wont make it through this entire post. In fact, I have probably already lost a decent percentage. This is for the people who want TRUTH. The REAL, unadulterated TRUTH. Not some conspiracy theory, or something made up in peoples heads, but actual factual information that any intelligent being would  digest and reach the same conclusion that once you realize the way America has done black people throughout history, coupled with the number of old white men still in power, one can only surmise that it would be near impossible to claim that all remnants of black oppression has been cleaned from law and a system designed with holding back the black man in mind. BUT FIRST YOU HAVE TO LEARN WHAT HISTORY CLASS WOULDNT DARE TEACH YOU!!!!

So at this present time of a sudden awakening of my white brethren...many white folks I associate with have reached out to me after seeing my Facebook posts (which basically called out any white people I know to choose a side, either commit to being a part of the problem or the solution) and would ask what they can do to be part of the solution. I tell all of them the same thing; "Go watch the Netflix documentary '13th' and come back and tell me what you think." I must say...Im SHOCKED but yet not at all surprised the number coming back to me saying they had no idea about most of what happened. As a black man, who grew up with parents who forced me to learn the REAL HISTORY of America, I am just now fully realizing that most white people my age and younger are mostly CLUELESS about the real history of this country as it relates to its dealing with my people.

This has caused me to have an epiphany...many white folks I once deemed racist are actually just ignorant. They have been fooled and miseducated by the same system designed to oppress black people in this country. I challenge all white people who have a hard time believing the claims of black people about what we deal with in a society as a whole to watch this documentary. Realize why black people, especially black men were intentionally criminalized in the media and intentionally skewed data. But that only if you want real truth. Those who wish to remain in their comfort zone of ignorance will do so regardless, and thats the worst type of racist of them all.

(sorry for any typos or grammar mistakes, I normally proof read posts this long but its too late for that. Im sure you get my point)

Lost me when I got to the underlined blue above. I have to admit, you had me reeled in for a second. I think it is pointless to get educated on a topic such as this by rich white liberals who have enjoyed such a pampered life when there so many black people to talk to in this country and get the facts organically.

At best, I would say that you have a flawed definition of "freedom of speech" where someone's expression should be free of consequences. That's not the way it works, and it never has been. Gundy's opinion of OANN was strong enough that he wore their advertisement on his chest. That expression had consequences.

And yet, you're against players kneeling during the anthem...

If the left received the same amount of criticism as conservatives, my opinion would be totally different. I am just decrying the double standard is all.

You claim that only one side has to be tolerant of the other.  You claim liberals have stereotyped actions.  All you are is the flip side of the same coin.

Gundy as a coach  has a different responsibility.  If you don’t get that you’re clueless.

Let’s say you’re in a position of authority with several young women in your office, and you wear T shirts with demeaning slogans against women.  Is it your position they should just get over it?

That would be different, he was at the workplace in this instance. That would be sexual harassment, or creating a hostile work environment. I would be against that as well.

    no they don't lol

They promote garbage neoliberalism. and nice try trying to compare socialism to right wing fascism, you know the kind America tried to take down in WWII.

so what you are saying right now is fascism is perfectly ok and that we should embrace it with open arms? yea no.

you show up supporting something like that you deserve all the backlash coming to you. I'm sorry.

You do understand that the right/left political spectrum is different in Europe than in the US right?

then I suggest you do what I did and actually sit down and talk with some black folks in your community.  That is if you’re open to hearing differing views. Opened my eyes quite a bit.

I am married to a black women. Have been for 10 years now. And you are absolutely right, it has been an eye opening experience in my life, for the better I might add. Changed ALOT of my viewpoints. Exposed alot of my flaws. Made me better as a man. Much more open minded.

Do any violent protestors, right wing or left wing?

No. All rioters are wrong, no matter the side.

Like I said, a person in the public eye working for an institution who is supposed to be teaching critical thought. Your scenarios are apples and oranges.

Not sure how to break it down any more clearly...it’s very simple.

Critical thought involves being open to differing views on major subjects. Do you think we should just take the narrative of BLM as gospel, or analyze it critically?

This "blowback" your referencing is literally based on people's perception, and opinion of OAN. So, you're saying that Gundy should have the freedom to wear a T-shirt, but others should't have the freedom to express their opinion about it? How is that not a double standard?

Do you see people lining up to destroy Hollywood celebrities over wearing Che t shirts? How about mayors of cities that honeymoon in Cuba during the cold war?

I’m struggling to see how this is relevant: the point is a person of authority in the public sphere should recognize what is divisive and what is not. Surely so many here are not so obtuse to recognize this simple fact.

Freedom of speech and the double standard where Gungy gets treated one way wearing an OAN t shirt on a private fishing trip, and imagine if this would have been a deal at all if that were a CNN t shirt...

  13. 8 minutes ago, Kirby Jackson said:

He wore a shirt of a network that called BLM “a farce.” Unless you live under a rock the BLM movement is the single most important thing to black people in this country. If your livelihood depends on black people it’s probably a good idea to support what’s important to them.

No one is denying that Gundy is free to believe what he wants. No one is stupid enough though to realize the potential repercussions on the recruiting trail. Ultimately, not supporting what your audience does is a great way to lose your job. It’s been happening in politics for decades. While he’s free to wear the shirt, recruits are free to go elsewhere. That gesture was career suicide.

I do agree with alot of what you say, honestly, but you are missing the big picture. Everytime a conservative expresses his opinion, no matter how subtly, he faces immense blowback from corporate and left wing media. It is like a firestorm. Boycotting,  censorship,  and alot of times people losing their jobs. You almost never see that with left wing individuals expressing themselves.  If this is how it is going to be going forward, we are on the precipice of the end of free speech.

I don’t believe supporting OAN is a good recruiting strategy for a NCAA football coach. These families have many options. They will steer things towards people whose values are more in line with their own. That’s what WILL happen.

Absolutely not!! It would probably help his case. College coaches are in sales first and foremost. They are selling the idea that their program is the best place for the kid. Saying, “our values are aligned” is a really good sales strategy. I’ve been in sales for 15+ years. It’s WAY easier to sell someone that trusts you and believes you have their best interest at heart. That’s common sense, no?

This is a case study in how the far left does not support free speech. He is a private citizen. He should be able to wear an OAN tee just as much as he should be able to wear an MSNBC or CNN or Young Turks tee without blowback.

Conservatives ARE aligned with black families much more so than you would think. They oppose abortion, go to church more so than leftists by a large margin, are pro nuclear family, etc. The only reason this is an issue is that there is a quasi modo French Revolution going on right now, where ANYBODY that steps out of line with the Antifa narrative is destroyed. Conservatives need to screw on their gonads and pull on their big boy pants, this is a war not a skirmish.

3 minutes ago, Kirby Jackson said:

You have to know your audience!! Lol, it’s not that complicated. It’s one of things that Trump has mastered. The reason that he’s anti-mask, law and order, open the country, etc... is because that what his audience wants. He plays to his base, his supporters and their beliefs. That’s a good business strategy for him.

A college coach needs to care about systemic racism. They need to care about the challenges that black people face in this country. That’s their audience!!

Does the orange man destroy the antifa insurgents who took over 6 city blocks in Seattle, all the Karen's who chastise people who wont wear a mask outside in open air 20 ft away from anybody, etc.

This whole culture war is scary, man. We should be able to have our own views and EXPRESS THEM without fear of losing our livlihoods...

I've seen these reports as "2nd wave."

Do people not understand its basically hitting the states it hasn't really hit yet right now.  Specifically California, Arizona, North Carolina, and Texas.

The data said they never had a first wave.

New cases does not mean today what it meant in March when we had no real idea who was most at risk.

These "new cases" reports must include context now--- Hospitalizations, percent positive, ICUs, and deaths.  And confirm any surges or hospitals overwhelmed.  If those numbers are stable then there is no need to do anything different but stay the course.

And I know someone is going to post increases in Arizona in hospitalizations.  Everyone is watching Arizona (like they did Florida spring breakers and Ozark pool parties).  I've seen the numbers.  77% capacity is normal.  And 30 percent are Covid related.  No one was going to hospitals 6 weeks ago.  Which explains a lot of those increases.

Actually here Albany Med is the powerhouse of healthcare in the Capital District. They are normally at 95-99% capacity, according to the director. To turn a profit, they need to be at 98%. They are openly disregarding Sugar Nipple's edict that hospitals be at 70% of capacity to reopen.
