I never hear of Simmons either until this happened. But I don't live in the USA so never watch ESPN. He's no Howard Cosell or Chris Berman in terms of name recognition, though.
Well he got his start in print and can actually write, Cosell and Berman are no Simmons

Not a fan of Goodell or ESPN, but this was a publicity stunt. I'd never heard of Bill Simmons before yesterday.
As someone who has followed Simmons since his pre ESPN days I can assure you it's not some stunt. Hopefully this is the catalyst for him to leave for good, an unchained Simmons would be awesome. Only downside, and it's a big one, would be if he lost all his insider access. Love his podcasts and articles.

I'm holding him in my auction league, I went five studs and the rest scrubs so my bench isn't deep. With AP I run away with the league but now it will be a dog fight.

They're legal federally but some states have restrictions, I know Washington banned them recently.

There are different types of games, I'll try to explain the differences and brief strategy.
Cash games-double ups, 50/50s, triple ups and head to head games. These you want guys with high floors, it doesn't matter if you finish first or 50th if the top fifty all get the same prize.
GPP-guaranteed prize pools. These are the lottery tickets so to speak. You need a big score to make money so you need to have guys that are not widely owned to have a shot at the top prize.
I usually go with a 80/20 split in favor of cash games to lower the weekly variance.

Not sure how it works in NC, but if their system is like VA's the original misdemeanor case would be held in General District Court before a judge. In those cases a conviction is still a conviction, but to get around the issue of constitutional protections the defendant has a right to appeal to the circuit court where it is heard de novo (new trial). Again, not sure about NC's court structure, but this may be what happened.

He still has a jury trial, the "found guilty" is misleading because the judge decides (guilty/not guilty))if a case should go to trial.

Me too. That deal is pretty sweet. But then I noticed their soup started being poorer quality and the service was atrocious (severely understaffed), so we stopped going. After this thread, maybe I will give it another try!
It's not too hard to make the soup at home, my wife loves it but I hate going to OG so I make it for her.

Is this really that hard to understand? Ask the guy who runs the board if he's okay with it. It doesn't matter if you think it's okay if he's not comfortable with it.
If he is against it because he is against gambling then I would completely understand, if he is against it because he is worried about getting into trouble then I would want to explain that he is good to go. As I have said previously I have a lot of experience with these types of things and Scott is in the clear in regards to any potential legal issues. If someone can cite a specific case of a board owner being held responsible for a pool ran through his site and facing legal issues because of it please link it. I have looked and found nothing.

I'm not sure the stakes matter that much, if someone decides to make a big deal out of it. I've seen poker games busted for chump change, while major stakes games were left untouched. Again, I doubt it's a big deal, just think it should be considered as this isn't "your house".
And your experience with these pools is? I am speaking from several years of experience and as someone who has participated in over 100 of them, stop being the fun patrol and take a chill pill. No one is coming after TBD for a small Stakes NFL pool.

The last two years I used my brothers account to stream on my laptop. Never had an issue and would hook an HDMI cable up to watch on my TV.
