  1. Just curious...are any of you actually bloods? Partial? Related to, married to, friends with, work with, acquainted with, actually spoken to any indigenous folks? I am partial, my children are more than half, I have many fine friends who are 100% "Skins". Most of them that I know are more offended by this entire discussion, than they are by the by some team name. Indian folk I know, for the most part, do not care. Many others like the recognition. But again, most just dont care what Whitey names there team.

I know from researching my family tree that there is a better than likely chance I am part American Indian, but I don't really advertise it because I have no need to, I don't need to tell people I'm part Swedish either, the Irish is kind of out of the bag due to my name and all

Indeed, it's mindboggling that he'll very likely go down as perhaps the greatest QB ever given that for much of his career he wasn't gifted with very many highly skilled players to complement him. Had he been surrounded by HOF caliber receivers like Montana and Manning were, Brady likely would be setting QB records that might never be eclipsed.

2007 and to a lesser extent 2012 showed what he could do offensively given tier one talent, but part of what makes Brady great is that he can produce at a top level without tier one talent around him letting resources be spent on defense to improve the team as a whole

I used to feel the way you did, until I had a conversation with a native American. The way he described it changed my mind. They consider it to be the same as having a team called the "n-words", the kikes, or whatever. The "redskin" name makes them feel like they are being made to be inferior to others, which isn't the case.

So my question is this: Do you want to make a population of good Americans feel inferior or insulted, or do you want to simply change the name of a team in a silly game? Put that way, I'm not sure why you'd be OK with insulting fellow Americans.

I used to feel the way you did till I talked with an American Indian and he told me he grew up on a reservation and their high school mascot was the redskins and none of them found it offensive, interestingly enough a lot of them find the term natives offensive because it makes them sound primitive.

  4. Belichick had a Jauron type record before Brady. Brady is the main reason why Belichick is considered a great coach. And for whatever reason, they are giving Brady sub par receivers. Hopefully, this is the year it finally catches up to them.

His prior HC gig with Cleveland they improved every year, made the playoffs and won a playoff game, the next season they were in a position to contend and Modell announced the team was moving and they're record plummeted for obvious reasons. Belichick was the last HC to win a playoff game for Cleveland to this day, Ozzie Newsome has credited much of the success in Baltimore to the foundation built in Cleveland. Belichick was also probably the main driving force behind the two Superbowl wins in NY when he was the DC, his game plan against the Bills is in the hall of fame, he was also the Assistant Head Coach when NE won the AFC and made it to the Superbowl against the Packers. No denying that Brady is an all time great QB, but without Belichick there is a chance he never makes it in the NFL, NE was the only team to contact Michigan coaches about him, and Belichick made the call to carry 4 QBs his first year because he saw potential in Brady.

  5. The Brady era will eventually end, no denying that as much as I would like to. What goes in his favor is that his first year in the league was as a backup, so there is an extra full season left of tread on his tires relative to his years in the league. Brady's game has always been based more on his mental ability rather than athletic ability, so in that regard aging won't hurt him as much, the big issue will be unforeseen injuries, it is much easier to come back from injury at a younger age. Last year Brady dealt with injures to 3 of his top 4 WRs and his all-pro TE, while his other former TE is rotting in prison because he decided to go postal. I'm going to set aside the Welker leaving because Edelman took over quite nicely. Realistically Brady probably has three years left at a very high level, we just drafted Garrapolo, and he was the highest we have taken a QB since we took Bledsoe 1st overall two decades ago. NE has been fortunate to have 3 starting QBs over that time span and all 3 have made pro-bowls.

  6. It was probably done away with because it wasn't profitable. Soccer is the game Europeans love, not football. I doubt Europeans really even understand the rules of football.

The whole Euro league lost almost $20 million a year, that's lass than what Joe Flacco makes in a year, from a player development aspect, each NFL team can pony up $625,000 in my opinion, not to mention airing it in the US, the NFL can really tap into the spring/early summer TV market, especially with the NFL network as another poster mentioned. I say bring it back.

How many teams were in the old NFL Europe? Maybe just make it a 6-team league-- improve the quality of the product.

Make 8 teams, one made up of all AFC East, West, North, South and NFC East, West, North, South.

To a man the players will tell you they'd rather get hit in the head and be out a week or two than get hit in the knees and tear their ACL and be out a year...

Crazy thinking with all the longterm damage shown to be caused by concussions and head hits, but that's how they think...

Gronk also received a concussion on that, it wasn't an illegal hit, it's what players are forced into doing by idiotic rules

  8. I wonder how many other teams have been able to go un-penalized during games this season? It would be very interesting to see if teams like the Bills, Browns, Jaguars, Lions, Bengals, etc. receive more penalty calls than the same teams that have been "winning" during the last 10-15 years (i.e., Pats, Giants, Saints, Packers, Colts, Steelers, Broncos, Cowboys, etc.).

The refs weren't calling anything that game either side, texans had two penalties all game also

Wasn't there an "Intentional grounding" call against the Browns that was wrong, but they overcame it? And then wasn't there a non-call against Brady when he clearly IG'ed the ball? (I can't even remember if it was this game, because the bad calls were coming so fast and furious yesterday). Then there was the personal foul on the TD, that set up the onside kick.

    NFL=Sham

Brady's "IG" that wasn't called landed at vereens feet, all QBs ground it into the feet of RBs who are blocking

  9.

Don't compliment yourself. I can't resist commenting on crazy posts. What part of the the game showed you or your friend that "the fix" was in for the SF--Sea game? You know, where the refs made sure the 9ers would win, but not cover a 2.5 point spread. How did they do that?

Anyway, Since NE didn't cover, the win didn't change the bookies' take vs if NE lost. They still took all that pats money.

As others have pointed out, this is all about the Bills.

It was fixed in favor of the browns, but they didnt want to change the outcome of the game, so they gave a makeup call to the pats to deflect suspicion

Go to 3:17 of this Japanese broadcast of SB25. Jim Kelly has just spiked the ball to kill the clock after a Thurman Thomas draw brings the Bills to the Giants 29 yard line with :08 to go. Norwood runs out on to the field with Reich as his holder to setup for the kick. Parcells calls a time out to ice Norwood, and screams for "JERRY" to get over and talk to him. The presumed swap-out occurs at this point. The ball Kelly spiked was not the field goal ball, hence the swap to the tainted ball.

Twelve (12) new footballs, sealed in a special box and shipped by the manufacturer, will be opened in the officials’ locker room two hours prior to the starting time of the game. These balls are to be specially marked with the letter "k" and used exclusively for the kicking game.
  11. I disagree. Stadiums don't have a fixed life. They don't become obsolete because they are old, there needs to be a reason. Most NFL teams have built new stadiums to increate club and suite seating, but the 1998 renovation to the Ralph addressed this pretty well and the next renovation will probably add additional club seating.

how about the literal **** flowing through the main concourse
