Obviously if he's not drafted, I'm guessing and hope quick.

I'm not going to act like I know anything about this guy but from what I'm reading is that he'll most likely play at safety but the writeup on NFL.com isn't very inspiring. Good size and length but average coverage instincts. I always take these with a grain of salt since all these kids have some sort of warts to them and he's a 5th rounder so I get it.

I could care less what I read, he is athletic as hell, played for the National Champs, this coaching staff and Gm have hit with defensive backs chosen later, and he's versatile can play corner, slot corner, and safety. This is an interesting pick to me and as someone said earlier Cam may be in trouble. Even if he is only a backup, versatile, and a special teams guy with his athletic ability this is what you look for later in the draft.

The guy is so talented what a shame and a waste
The guy is a turd and would be locked up for something if he wasn't NFL, so I have a hard time feeling bad for him myself.

25 mil guaranteed for a very good (and sometimes great) starting LB is a fantastic thing. So many people not liking this is confounding. Who else of the same caliber could you get at that price for 4 years?
hint: nobody.
What did Tremaine sign for 2 years ago, 18-19 a season I think? IMO Benford is a better player, at least you notice his production. Not to mention this contract actually kicks in 2026 I believe, that's the case great deal 🤞as long as he stays healthy and performa like he did year 1 or closer to it.

hopefully Bean drafts the correct people this time, unlike the last time he sold-out D heavy and over drafted Groot and then took Basham. Oh, and the time he took Elam in the first. And another time when he traded back into the first for Edmunds.
I really hope we get a vet D player with our number 30 pick in a trade and get a 1 tech later in the draft. Grab FA WRs.
Over drafted Groot, are you serious? He's at this point not blue chip but he is a really good DE.

Injuries have played a huge part. Specific moments and errors on specific plays have played a part, by both players and coaches. Kansas City being better and having actual elite players who make elite plays in critical moments has been a bug difference. We don't really have that outside of Allen.
Yeah, I do think part of it is that Andy Reid has been a step ahead of our coaches. He is legitimately one of the greatest coaches of all time. But nobody we bring in is going to be a better coach than him. That just realistically isn't possible.
It isn't just one thing, though. All facets of the team share some of the blame. I think talent and lack of elite difference makers is the biggest piece of the pie, personally.
Agree with everything you said above, but I also think we don't have to outcoach them but closing the gap could be the difference. That is the thing though, every year we have excuses even if they are legitimate ones. Hoping we don't look back at Allen's career in the league and think, what a shame.

The defense is aggressive. They don't sit back in soft zone coverage all the time. They do play more man than they have in recent years, and even the teams that play the most man coverage in the league still play more zone than man. The Eagles just destroyed the Chiefs in the superbowl by playing almost exclusively zone coverage and not blitzing at all. The defense does not sit back and let offenses dictate the game. The players lose one on one matchups too much, miss tackles too much, and are out of position too much. That's the issue with the defense. The scheme is complex, nuanced, aggressive, and innovative. The scheme is fine. They need players to execute it better. Part of that is on the coaches. Part of that is talent acquisition. Part of that is on the players themselves.
So has the scheme been fine in the playoffs against the Chiefs? The Chiefs have turned this defense inside out 4 times now in the playoffs. Was it aggressive with 13 seconds left? We need quality defenders, I get it but why has the defense been toast every year in the playoffs when it matters most? It hasn't been the offense letting us down it's the defense, no matter who we had on the field.

So, it sounds like you don't have any specifics about the scheme other than man coverage vs zone coverage. Why even talk about the scheme being an issue if you don't know about the scheme or what you would do differently?
The sceme we run now is highly zone, I think it will be beneficial to play more man to man. Though we might need new players at a corner spot and safety spot IMO. We also have to become more aggressive getting after the QB and a young DE and Dt could be beneficial in the draft. I'm hoping Solomon turns into at least a good situational pass rusher. I don't like how the defense seems to sit back and let offenses dictate the game, hoping these new assistant coaches can inject some aggressive eas into the scheme. There that better *****? Also like to stay up in coverage not 6-8 yards off the receivers allowing them to get into their breaks and routes easy.

In what way?
The good and very good QBs slice it up very, very, often and every year in the playoffs. There answered for him IMo I should add. I do like the fact the Assistant coordinator or whatever the title is runs a lot more man defense.

McD should forget his scheme and go find his Spags. He can just focus on running the team.
I wish they'd change the scheme, it has cost us in every playoff loss, so sick of seeing receivers running wide open in a zone.

See comment above... McDermott put more faith in his Coordinators this year than years past. He said it throughout the year.
I actually view that as an area of growth on his part.
I think Brady is the guy who really needs to spend the offseason working. He needs to study Andy Reid more for offensive play calling in terms of timing and misdirection especially
Brady needs to call better plays no doubt, but our defense has ***** the bed Everytime we've played the Chiefs, the Bengals game, and the Texans game. The defensive scheme unfortunately has so many holes in it and nothing is going to change because it's McDermotts scheme, wish they'd change it up a bit it's the same thing repeatedly in the playoffs.

We need top-shelf talent but Beane keeps missing on them or drafts projects that need to gain/shed weight and 3-4 years to develop. No more project players in the first 2 rounds. Epenesa was a god awful pick. 75 percent chance Coleman is out of the league in 3 years.
Comeon Coleman is like 21 years old no way in hell he's out of the league in three years barring illness or injury, get a grip.

Karma is a b!tch...
Ravens TE drops a 2 point conversion to give us the win last week and now our TE drops a 4th down conversion to essentially give the Chiefs the win this week...
Un ***** believable.
All these other sports franchises that have never won one have won in the last 5-10 years.
When is it our fvcking turn? Why is it never our fvcking turn?
Difference is it would have been tied and we had 133 left with 2 timeouts. Reid and Spagnola give us a coaching master class every year in the playoffs and amazingly do it every year winning by 7 or less.

Outcoached every year we play them in the playoffs, Brady the last two weeks Mr. Conservative. Almost bit us last week this week it did.

It wasn't an accuracy issue... Go back and rewatch every single throw from Wyoming
He made some crazy insane throws.. throws that kids with accuracy issues can't make in their dreams
He had inconsistency issues which is different
He had the same problem his rookie year in Buffalo... Made some crazy good throws than some head scratchers
That's inconsistency issues related to his sloppy Mechanics.. not being pure inaccurate which really won't get fixed
Yeah don't have the time or need to rewatch every throw but my statement still rings through accuracy issues do not turn around much at all like his did. Whatever the problem in the mechanics were or are from now on, he corrected his issue which is an oddity!

His upper body mechanics were out of sync but not terrible
It was his feet, that is lower body mechanics were a mess.. but that's a lot easier to fix then a tim Tebow release
Yeah I know but it all the years I've watched football I haven't seen many guys improve their accuracy like he has.

Same here. I didn't want him because I didn't think there was any way he could become accurate since I've never seen it done before, at least in the 30 years I've been watching football, regardless of the franchise.
Exact same opinion I had, mechanics are so hard to change. So happy a lot of us were wrong.

Not really. We are being pretty vanilla. Dont think very much, if anything, relates to the post season
When Mahomes and Burrows has slice and diced the defensive backfield in the playoffs it has some correlation even if the players are different.

Wait, are people actually taking this game seriously? Cause the Bills arent.
The goal today is to keep our starters healthy. Bonus if we can hand NE a win and knock them out of the #1 spot.
Very true however, it shows the defensive schemes vulnerabilities when a QB is on, remember the big playoff games?

I’m not sure why Pats fans are worried about the number one pick that much. When you have your QB, you don’t need number one in a draft without a generational skill player in it.
Everyone has different opinions on players, may be able to pick up some very good picks with that 1st and you have the first player if you don't trade back.

I feel like if McDermott played more press coverage, the Dline could get to the QB. The Rams, Detroit and Patriots looked to play with a timing offense. When QBs hit their back foot on drops the ball was out of their hands.
I been wishing since McDermott arrived he played a more aggressive defense, that isn't happening. If our defense was aggressive and we got beat in the playoffs I would find it easier to accept. We sit back on our heels and play zone and let the offense dictate everything and just pick our zone apart. Disclaimer though I'm not so sure we have the players to play aggressively, but it would be nice to see for Once against an elite QB.

Tim Settle, Poona Ford and Leonard Floyd played significant time on the defensive line last season. All are starters for other teams this season.
Poona was basically inactive the whole year wasn't he? Tim Settle IMO was ***** in our defensive system, strange to see him having what seems like a good year In Houston. I seen him play a game this year and I think they said he had like six sacks and my immediate thought was were we misusing him or is our defensive scheme just ass, don't worry their are other reasons I have these thoughts.

Please change up the defensive philosophy this off season . Defense feasts on average and below QB’s and offensive lines. This coupled with Josh gets you double digit win totals each year. In the playoffs you very rarely see below average. Good qb’s,with time, pick apart our defense. Also sick of mobile DT’s. Jeff Wright, Kyle Williams and most of our current ones come to mind. Please either draft or pickup a mountain for the middle to at least stop the run.
We aren't changing the defensive philosophy unless we axe McDermott, this is his defense. Same thing has happened every year in the playoffs.
