Taylor isn't going to change. The two QB's playing today were mirror images of each other. Neither will lose a game with their stat line. Watch them and you want better. The thing with wanting to be better is that it's hard for either franchise to take a step back in order to take two steps forward.

I think he'll go to somewhere to start for a year while a rookie gets ready. Which was his best case scenario for next season in Buffalo.
-
The starting QB threw for 56 yards. He targeted Tolbert and Chris Dimarco as much as the #1 and #2 WR. Blame the OL or the D but the QB doesn't let the WR make any plays.
-
I think they can do better. Tyrod is playing the same way he's played in his previous two seasons. The defense is playing lights out and scoring points and they're getting enough from the offense. I think it'd be hard to move on from Taylor if they make the playoffs. Most likely scenario to me is they end up with a guy who is more of a project like Josh Allen, not sure if that's a good thing.
-
They're terrible at WR. I think QB, WR, and either a TE or another WR in the first 6 picks.
-
"Michael Vick is now working as a broadcaster"
This is the part I can't get past.
Well if Shannon Sharpe can do it
-
I'm not sure they've got a WR who deserves to be on an NFL roster. Matthews when healthy is ok but after that they're terrible. Zay Jones looks to have the football sense of T.J. Graham.
I'm not a Taylor fan and would've rather seen him gone but he's got no chance with this group. He's been the same QB he was his previous two years. If they're moving on from him in the offseason and investing a 1st rd pick or more into a young guy they also need to use 2 of their top 4 picks on WR's.

Offensive line is going the same way thanks to the spread. It's harder than ever to scout offensive lineman.
The NFL is a north / south blocking game traditionally
College is east/ west now
You must look for specific traits that show how the lineman will translate to the pros... I.E. power I packages...
Greg Robinson dominated in a zone read scheme which does not translate to the NFL game. He was all heigjt, weight, athleticism...
You must look for specific nuances which translate to the NFl. Cordy Glenn played in an NFL blocking scheme at Georgia. His tape translates betterM
My point is offensive line is a riskier pick than QB, and all picks are risky. If this franchise wants to draft scared than they can top out a 9 wins.

Well yes first round guys are more highly touted, but it doesn't mean better anymore.
As I said the days of luck, manning and elway are over. You are just as likely to draft Blaine gabbert in the first as you are a good QB
Brees, second round. Romo, undrafted. Wilson, third round. Dalton, second round. TT 4th round, Brady , 6th.
For every Matt Ryan 3rd overall there are 10 Jake lockers
I fully understand that talents like Rosen don't last til round 3 but he can easily be jay cutler... he isn't Andrew luck or Matt Ryan territory
Isn't that for every position? Look at all the tackles like Greg Robinson who've been colossal busts.

I was shocked to see both the turnover calls go the Bills way. Usually that doesn't happen. Both were close but in end I think they got them right.
And yes, Trent Green was abysmal. He was over-emphasizing every little play. "LET ME TELL YOU WHY THIS TWO YARD LOSS IS THE GREATEST TWO YARD LOSS IN THE HISTORY OF EVER!!!" And then he'd pick out someone simply doing their job and emphatically rave about it as if the guy just made the play of the century.

A Bronco's "insider," or what not was on GR this week and said the Bills had a deal in place for Siemian if they were to get Romo. I hate that idea more than I hated the idea of bringing Taylor back.
-
They can draft or trade for one, or sign on in FA.
I'd prefer to go QB and WR twice with the Bills first three picks. Having this group of WR is a disaster for most QB's,
-
I hope this is not the case. We have too many other positions of need to be spending two picks on a WR, even with six picks. And if we send one of those picks in a trade up for our QB, that's now only 4 picks after selecting that QB. On top of that, we drafted Zay with a 2nd round pick. He needs to develop into a good receiver for us.
Andre Holmes is a 4th or 5th wr on a good team. Matthews is a free agent. So they've got Jones and nothing.
-
The Bills are still stuck playing 1950's football. Even teams with a QB like Brian Hoyer are throwing the ball around. Tyrod isn't good enough but I'd say Hoyer isn't either. If the plan is to draft a QB early and I hope it is, they've gotta look to go WR at least twice in the first 3 rds.
-
Devin Funchess is just a guy. Benjamin can be very good, but they've got a pretty bad group of Wrs.
-
They don't get the soft schedule of last year. "On paper," I think outside of the Jets they're the 2nd worst team in the league talent wise. The GM and HC plan to dump young players seems odd but they didn't draft them so they're better off with journeymen fringe NFL players?
-
Ragland and Darby were not good fits for the new coach's system. Players are going to be added who fit the system and players are going to be discarded who don't. At least this new regime is adding picks instead of giving away picks.
I'll say it again that the roster that McDermott inherited was not as good as many are portraying it to be. It wasn't even close to being a playoff team.
McDermott was on board when they traded up for Jones and Dawkins.
-
All the posters complaining about trading good young players (Watkins, Darby) are assuming those guys would be here for years to come. Watkins is going to get huge money from somewhere after this season, and at that point the Bills still won't have their QB to make staying look attractive. Darby saw Gilmore cash in, and he was ready to bail immediately. We wouldn't have had either of those guys next year, face it. And McBeane doesn't expect to win this year. So, do the math. Get what you can.
For those listing all the draft picks left from 2013-16 (not many), yes, that's really bad. But at least we traded Alonso, a good player, for Shady, a great player. But even with that, those drafts are the reason we're not going anywhere this year.
Or they could've picked up the option. The Bills do a pretty good job of drafting terribly so they probably won't have to pay anybody big money in the next few years.
McCoy is a good player, but running backs have no value. The Bills have topped out at mediocre for 17 years. They value running backs but don't value Qb's. They want to play 1970's football.
Whaley ran this draft just like Nix took Manuel. I don't get why if this was the plan they brought Taylor back. Also why wouldn't they draft Mahomes or Watson? Next year's the year to get a QB right? Well that's if everything falls right and they're picking ahead of the Jets, 9ers, Jags.
-
It's a cliche but Marino was before his era. He was a better player than Kelly. Marino's game vs Bledsoe after he blew out achilles is as great of a game a QB has played, IMO. Both were great but I'd take Marino and not really close.
-
Start him day 1. If this season goes as expected at least being bad again next year we'll hopefully have a rookie QB to watch get better. I think best case scenario Cousins goes to SF and the Bills are able to trade up with them if they have their typical year. Depending on what it costs to trade up or if they have to trade up I think they need to go offensive weapons early and often. They've got one of the worst WR groups in the league and a rb who will be 30.
Worst case scenario they draft an OT or DT and go with a mid-rd QB and sell the hope that the 2019 draft is the year.
-
I'd trade Taylor for a 4th, no need to add Bortles.
-
The Bills are a trade like that away from being the Jets. Which in the long run would be better for the franchise. I just don't get making holes on the roster. Then using the collateral from trades to replace the holes that have been made.
-
Sammy is a more talented wide receiver than Matthews. I don't think anybody would dispute that. And Gaines doesn't need to be the caliber of Sammy, he just needs to be better than Darby was last year, which was lousy.
But that wasn't the point. You basically said that the Bills were giving up on the future by trading those two and acquiring the other two. But Matthews has been in the league as long as Sammy has (and both are UFAs at the end of the year) and Gaines has been in the league one more year than Darby has, but missed one of those seasons entirely.
Watkins should've been a franchise corner stone. Matthews and Gaines aren't that.

I expect Taylor to be a back-up next year. Or he's holding a job for half a season til a rookie is ready. I think Denver is the most likely landing spot for him and the best spot if he wants to start. Not sure of the contract but I think Alex Smith will be in Jacksonville ahead of Tyrod.
