  1. Just made my annual call. This time it was slightly less than 5 minutes. For those who stress about having to do the whole pretend you are going to cancel song and dance...it's quite simple...don't do it at all, as long as you are willing to pay something for Sunday Ticket. My experience the past 2 years has been almost identical.

    Follow these steps:

    1. At the voice prompt say "Retention". When the representative gets on the line verify with them that they are indeed the Retention department (and if not then have them transfer you).

    2. Tell them you know that new DirecTV customers get Sunday Ticket for free. Tell them that you can go to any internet message board and see that people all over are getting it for a reduced rate or even free themselves. Tell them that while you are willing to pay for Sunday Ticket, you don't want to be one of the suckers who pays full price.

    3. Rep tells you that there is a current deal on Sunday Ticket Max for half off. I was fine with this, so I took it.

    4. Tell them you know many customers are also getting additional bill credits.

    5. Rep will put you on a short hold and come back with a deal. Mine was $10 per month for 12 months. I was fine with this, so I took it.

    6. Rep also will give you a deal on movie channels for free for 3 months. And after 3 months they will not automatically appear on your bill, you will have to go online/call to make sure you keep any that you want.

Now, I am sure I could have gotten an even better deal, but this method is fast and low stress, so it suits me just fine. Sunday Ticket Max price is about $330. I will pay $165 for it, plus get $120 back over the year, plus get HBO (which I have anyway) for free for 3 months, which would normally cost me $45 for 3 months. So, in the end, while I spend $165 now, I get every cent of it back within 12 months, plus Sunday Ticket Max. Not bad for a 5 minute call. I am no longer even under contract and they didn't even try to get me to re-up.

At the end I even mentioned enjoying not having to pretend to cancel my service in order to get a deal. They laughed and said they get a lot of the pretend cancels this time of year. And most importantly, be courteous!

  2. What, he wears a wedding ring on the football field, but not to pub Eds???

Damn it Eball, you beat me by 1 minute...or did you notice the ring is "missing"

I don't think it's missing. Look at the base of his left ring finger. See how it looks unnaturally skinny? That's because the ring is there and it blends in with the background on the edges.

  3. Thank you. It sounds like Moreno has been lazy, showed up to the OTA's out of shape and injured himself. I suspect that injury will hinder him throughout the season to some degree.

Sure it will affect him to some degree. I just find it odd that you are ignoring the fact the vast majority of players on every team have various ailments and recoveries they are perpetually going through. Will Moreno's injury affect the game more so than anyone elses injury they are playing through at that point? No.

  4. not sure if this in new info per se, but i'm guessing he'll be the first texan qb to wear his wedding ring while playing. also, he's probably the first quarterback from harvard to play for houston.

i'm gonna google his name on the google and see if i can find any other fun facts to share with you guys.

    be right back...

    Fitz went to Harvard?

  5. The Bills brass must have thought they would never get a better offer than what SF was willing to give up right now. And SF has 5 picks in rounds 2 and 3 this year, so SF had plenty of ammunition to play with. Personally, I would have liked to have kept SJ on the team at least into the pre-season and use him as trade bait when some other team has injuries to their starting WRs. *shrug*

  6. When my wife and I attended the Carolina game last season, it was her first trip to Buffalo. I talked her into trying a beef on weck while we were up there and she absolutely loved the roll. I've been stymied trying to find a place that will ship kimmelweck rolls to the west coast, however.

Does anyone know a place quality rolls could be ordered from that would do expedited shipping?

  7. He had signed a 6 year deal in 2013 with Tampa, so is under contract through 2018. It seems the guaranteed money is done after this next contract year, so he can be gone easily after this season if it doesn't work out.

    According to Rotoworld:

7/24/2013: Signed a six-year, $40.25 million contract. The deal contains $9.4 million guaranteed -- a first-year roster bonus of $1 million and each of Williams' first two base salaries. Williams is eligible for annual $600,000 workout bonuses in years two through six.

    2014: $1.2 million (+ $1 million roster bonus),

    2015: $5.2 million (+ $1 million roster bonus),

    2016: $5.6 million (+ $1 million roster bonus),

    2017: $5.9 million (+ $1 million roster bonus),

    2018: $4.15 million (+ $1 million roster bonus),

    2019: Free Agent

  8. Depending on how it was written (like how I included to check your calendar) or the subject, yes it would stay open.

#1. I had requested a mod response from anyone other than the perpetrator.

#2. All other threads with misleading post titles get closed.

    #3. Double standard much?

  9. I have been wondering how the draft being moved to May 8th is going to affect the release of the schedule. Perhaps they will push it back a few weeks.

Also, for a league that is so set on marketing itself, and selling absolutely every bit and piece of "the shield"... from televising the combine, to every round of the draft, to mini camps, to "Hard Knocks", to even broadcasting the parade for the Seahawks...

you would think that they would just pick one damn date to announce the schedule, make it a prime time event, and market the hell out of it.

It just simply doesn't mesh with the way the NFL works anymore, and quite frankly, its weird how diametrically opposed it is to the way the league does business. Every fan looks forward to the release of the schedule.

    What makes more sense:

Q: When does the schedule come out?

A: IDK... some time in April I think? Some time around the draft if I remember correctly...

    or

Q: When does the schedule come out?

A: Easter Sunday, prime time, 7pm! Just like every year! Come on man, get your head in the game!!

While I appreciate your point, your example is horrible given that Easter Sunday can vary by about a month. You would instead have to go with something along the lines of, for example, the 3rd Sunday of April.

  10. This was one of the better Pro Bowls.

If the NFL is serious about wanting to maintain competitiveness of the game, however, they should take out a 1 week injury insurance policy for each player who attends (practices and pre-game activities need to be included). Players could really let it rip then, in a showcase of the best vs the best.

Insured long term security = higher quality product on the field.

  11. Mocking the Draft had Mack going to the Bills at #7...

You mean you had Mack going to the Bills at #7. Don't try to pass this off as anything else than that.

This thread is just shameless advertising for the OPs own site, considering the twitter handle of the guy that wrote the article is UBBullRun and his name here is Bull Run.

    Bad form, OP. Bad form.
