He has thrown like 3 deep balls lol
You have surmised in your infinite wisdom that he has lost his deep ball because he chucked a few up in double coverage LOL
No I’ve surmised he’s lost his long ball bc teams have countered it and play two deep shells. Even bad teams know to just roll safeties over diggs and Davis. We are way less dynamic and it’s showing. You have to be a real homer to not admit we’re pinned into small ball.

0 sacks.
He’s had help, but he’s been ok. The fact he’s shown improvement thus far says let’s see how much improvement he continues to make over the season.
The 0 sacks is because of the help. Again we’re pinning our TEs to the line instead of going out for passes to help. It’s handicapping us.

I don't get this at all. Josh is 3rd in comp% 72.7! Bills are 2nd in scoring! How is that bad?? I wasn't kidding about expectations getting ridiculous lately. We think Josh is Superman and 72% is bad!
what’s the tipping point where accuracy doesn’t matter vs yards per pass. His accuracy is great but he’s lost his long ball almost completely.
if the passing game somehow explodes vs Miami, I’ll eat crow. But something tells me it isn’t happening. 72% and 218 yards is not going to fly vs real teams.

I rest my case.
But if the net result at the end of a game, what's the difference? Again, if teams with superior YAC are so much better why aren't they outperforming the Bills? (Miami being the obvious one this year.) The Bills get their yards through the air because our QB can throw it anywhere.
Can he? Hes currently ranked 13th in yards. I think you need to take a step back and look at the last three games. Our passing offense is not hitting right now.
there was a point when Diggs maybe hurt his wrist on Sunday and just the thought of Davis being our WR1 was devastating.

What is the difference between A 20-yard pass with no YAC and a 5 yard pass with 15 yards YAC? Nothing. Don't conflate not defending after the catch as a need for the Bills to play the yards-after game.
Opportunity. A comeback route’s YAC opportunity is low. Hitting a WR in stride has a potential for missed tackles and more YAC. One gives you a chance for big plays the other methodically marches you down the field but makes you make more throws.

A lot of deep crossers end up near the sideline so the receiver takes a few steps and is OOB.
A lot of routes are stop and comebacks which are not going to get a lot of YAC.
He doesn't throw as many checkdowns to backs who gain 10-15 yards after the catch or screens where they are behind the LOS so they have lots of space to run.
The offense is designed differently and relies more on Allen using his arm to gain those extra 5-6 yards versus the receivers running the extra 5 or 6 yards.
Unsure why some people continuously keep harping on this as if there is something wrong. Nothing is wrong, it's just an offense that isn't designed to rack up huge YAC numbers. Allen hit Davis in stride 35 yards downfield in the corner of the endzone yesterday but got 0 YAC yards. Would it have made you feel better if his arm was weaker and he hit him at the 12 yard line and he picked up 10 YAC yards to the 2 before being shoved out of bounds and then they had to settle for a FG?
Essentially...stop trying to manufacture problems that aren't actually problems.
I agree with a lot of what you’re saying. Boundary routes and throws to the end zone don’t have YAC. So you see as an imperfect measurement for success.
but what you can’t deny is our comeback, checkdown offense leaves us in A LOT of third and longs. And it’s great when we’re completing them and famine when we’re not.
im not trying to “create a problem” but I’m not going to view everything with rose tinted glasses when we beat up some scrubs.
these are the things that bite us.

We all watch other teams play aside from the Bills. We’re able to see teams hit WRs in stride and make big plays.
meanwhile our big plays are stationary catches. 20 yard strikes to a Knox on his knees or a zone sitting Diggs who rolls for another yard.
Diggs was ranked 26th in YAC last year. Dont get me wrong, Josh is amazing at hitting stationary targets. But when it comes to guys on the run, he tends to put it into their chest. I still can’t figure out why this hasn’t been addressed. It’s been a thing since his first year.

We win big and then have to endure a week of “told ya Josh is fine!!! This team is fine!! We showed the haters! The media hates us!!”
it’ll be the Diggs controversy all over again.

We did this exact same thing last time he played a bad game. Find the thread.

Dalton Kincaid is ready to play. A rook in his first game in the league and he looked every bit a veteran and a playmaker. im out on a limb but I think he is going to be a great player.
Agreed. Imagine what a competent OC could do with our TEs?

I hear ya. I was just hoping this one will finally sink in because of the magnitude of it. He has made bad plays and cost us before but not like this. To me this game falls squarely on his shoulders. Those 4 turnovers were just brutal. We win that game 13-3 or so without them. Good enough for me. If that is not a wake up call he will never have one.
He needs to go watch film on Brady. There were entire stretches of games where Brady threw short passes 95% of the time. Why? Because he was coached to and listened. And they were successful

he's too stupid or stubborn. He was the reason we lost games last season and never improved. I'm "sell" on JA until he proves he can improve. All the talent, none of the desire.
someone needs to get in his face on the sideline, and call him out publicly. McD needs to do this, and Daboll needs to be in his ear. I'd even bench his a@@ at some point if that's what it takes.
Daboll is coaching the Giants.

I think this game might finally wake Josh Allen the ***** up and he will stop being a turnover machine. He is the single reason we lost this game and he knows it and he knows he’s sucked. If the result of this loss gets him to finally realize that a lot of good will come from it.
on the flip side of this game doesn’t teach him that we are screwed.
We honestly say this every time. We keep waiting. We need an OC that holds him accountable. No one holds him accountable for going off script.

A good...well, perfect...throw in that Vikings game would have yielded a TD, but the throw was BEHIND the WR and a little low. Was it overconfidence or just a bad elbow that prevented it from being a perfect throw? Or both.
The point is we had more than enough time and timeouts and downs to work the ball methodically down the field to get into scoring position. Hell, we were already in FG range to tie it. He takes dumb chances sometimes. And when they don’t work, it costs the team gravely.

I’m reminded of last year vs the Vikings. Especially OT when Josh forced a ball into the end zone with timeouts, time on the clock and good field position on an early down. Interception, game over.
why doesn’t he have situational awareness? Why can’t he learn his lesson after six years? I’ll take boring and consistent over hero ball when we don’t need it.

Our TEs can’t make plays bc they’re too busy bailing out the oline.
-
We’ve built a D to stop the KC offense and that’s it. Any team that can run smacks us in the face.

It’s not just the NY local media. There are so many open Jets fans in the national NFL media. Anytime that they are at all good, it’s the only thing that Rich Eisen, Mike Greenberg, and Rex Ryan want to talk about. In a related note, when did it become OK for national sports media figures to wear their fandom on their sleeves? 15 years ago, there were no Nick Wrights but now they’re everywhere.
15 years ago is the beginnings of social media and the smart phone. It expanded the sports talk landscape and now everyone can follow all of their favorite homer content creators. It also changed the formats TV sports talk to be more laid back and from the hip (like social media). Hence why you get TV commentators openly rooting for their teams.

The annual "talk about the cuts" thread is second only to the annual "comment on the draft picks" thread for wild, ridiculous takes on the board.
It's amazing how many hidden GMs we have around here.
I mean, has there actually been a surprise cut yet?
If this place was filled with like-minded people all commenting “good, anticipated move” and “I agree with the other 20 commenters about the trade” you wouldn’t visit this site.

They can get to the QB just by bringing four. They really don't have to blitz.
I’d love if we could scheme a ton of two TE sets to help chip and get off the line to catch balls. Unfortunately, I don’t have any faith in Dorsey using our weapons correctly.

Jets game is a good example. Pass yards were hard to come by and our TEs only produced 25 and 26 yds on 7 total catches. They both only had one catch in the entire second half.
TEs should be exposing mismatches and give the qb an outlet to throw. When they’re not getting open, you’re forcing Josh to make tough short throws against a good jets pass D.
