  1. Anyone been to the Black and Blue? My Daughter has heard its it good but she isn't a big beef eater and hasn't been there.

I have been there and it's a very good experience. I was there on a job interview the first time I was there so I have to admit I don't really remember specific steak details.

I have been there with my wife since for drinks and a snack on date night but we haven't done dinner there as far as I recall since.

Used to love Ricks Prime Rib on Schoen place just a bit down the road.

  2. Don't give us facts when this board is hyped on last weeks game without any recall of the previous games when Orton was averaging around 40 passes a game. That's logic or something man it's not allowe around here.

Everyone mad about running try and remember what this Bills team looked like with Manuel as the QB. Then look up how many sacks we have given up per game since Orton took over (hint its A LOT) then ask yourself if you want to run the risk Orton gets hurt.

  3. The ONLY way the Jets were getting back in the game was a turnover

    They played it safe

    Agreed

The Jets had 4 sacks on a total of 22 or so drop backs 17 "attempts. 4 sacks despite a 2:1 run to pass ratio and being in the lead since our first drive.

Our oline can't handle interior pressure or blitzes/stunts. Their front seven is very strong particularly at tackle and Rex is one of the best blitzing head coach in the league.

How many sacks would we have given up if we passed more and Orton didn't check into runs at the line as it appeared he did. How soon before Orton gets Injured and Manuel is back in or Orton coughs up the ball. Either of those would have put the jets back in the drivers seat.

I would have liked to see us turn more of those possessions into points but I will take the win.

For context look at New England's points production the last few weeks and their production vs the Jets. That's a very good defence despite a dumpster fire on offense.

  4. completely disagree. it is far from exciting football but a W is a W. winnng ugly, as was the slogan for some chicago white sox teams who were horrible offensively yet played very good "small ball" and defense to win a championship back in '05.

true, it was painful at times today. however, no ints and orton is still in good health. the OL is still marginal at best.

Agree. This team isn't built to win throwing 40 times per game particularly against that jets dline. If we put the ball in the air 30-40 times how many more sacks would we give up. In this particular game playing conservative with rare shots downfield worked. Interesting they were more aggressive on the first series then the rest of the game it seemed.

  5. The first round is a fifty fifty proposition at best (okay roughly) to get a multi year starter the draft for QBs even in the first round is worse then a 50/50 even ignoring Manuel. If you can get a definitive star isn't that better then two "might turn out to be okay and have a small chance of being a star" guys?

This wasn't the RGIII Ricky Williams or Herschell Walker trade we didn't mortgage the entire future for Sammy.

  6. I was at the game and Sammy was singled with only a single safety deep multiple times in the game. Admittedly a lot of that was when they blitzed six and had 8 in the box and we gave up a sack. I was shocked at how little attention Minnesota was paying to Sammy. Looks like the corner was on his own with little deep help on a much higher percentage of plays then I would figure in a an NFL defence.

  7. I was in section 137 row 26 so pretty close to you and I am pretty sure no one around me was making any noise when we are on defence. It looked like the rows ahead of me were getting it better including several folks making the quiet it down signal when we were on offense. But it says a lot that they had to do it.

Again it was great to be at the game I had a ton of fun but how do folks decked out in Bills gear presumably more then a "hey I got free tickets from somebody at work want to go" group not know when to make noise? It was nothing like the crowd in the nineties or even in 06/07.

Maybe it was just the section but really that stadium as whole sounded was much quieter then it used to be on third down.

  8. Obviously we all would have liked to blow out a Vikings team that frankly is about as good as ours at every position except QB where they have a potential future and we have current moderate production. When we were calling this an easy game we were talking about a team with one less win then us not a bottom feeding zero win team.

We would feel better about a big win. And I think we would all agree a big win without problems would be a better sign for this team's future then squeeking by despite mistakes. But 4-3 beats 3-4 any day of the week and it's still a bit closer to ten wins.

You need some luck to win when you aren't a great team. This isn't a great team I will take it.

  9.

The Vikings are the #7 D so some of our O struggles were not surprising. In no way does it excuse some of the miscues, but 4 of our games so far have been against top-10 Defenses (Lions, Vikes, Dolphins, Pats*) and have won three out of them. There is enough to point fingers at but not every team in the NFL wins pretty.

Bingo that's a really good defence their rookie Barr in particular was all over the field. Not so great offense minus two of its three best players vs a good defence I will take a win.

  10. agreed and its a great post. Most of the turnovers today were pretty fluky rather then a defender making a great play. Seatlle's blue print for success looks less impressive today then it did at the end of last years super bowl. RG III went from sure thing to possible soon to be out of the league.(and that may just be an over reaction).

Marv Levy used to say roughly you are never as good or as bad as they (the media and fans) say you are. And it's true.
