1. My comment was directed at your "unproven" statement. We have the worst OL in the league with one of the worst rated passing offenses to go with it. He still put up 1,200 yards and based on that alone and being the 10th ranked rusher in the league with everything going against him, I would say yes he is "proven".

Of course he wasn't as impressive this year as last, Bledsoe was at least a marginal downfield threat compared to Losman/Holcomb and our OL regressed.

How did you expect him to improve when every single defense stacked the line of scrimmage with 8,9,10 men in the box. Don't you know football? Ask any GM if they think McGahee is a proven running back or not.

On the other note, I disagree with the statement Bush won't do anything behind our OL. One thing Bush does that McGahee doesn't is make people miss and Bush is an incredible receiver out of the backfield. That alone opens up our passing game because he would draw coverage to wherever he is on the field. Besides, I have to believe that OL help will be acquired this offseason after neglecting it during the TD era. Even if we could get Houston to accept a 2nd rounder with McGahee for the top pick I would do it. Although I think Bush is definitely the real deal, some NFL personnel might feel more comfortable with a proven NFL back with a much lower salary and extra draft picks with so many needs by the Texans.

Haven't you ever seen high draft picks like KiJana Carter and Blair Thomas be complete busts??? Some people might be a tiny bit skeptical with Bush since they haven't seen him against NFL competition and that huge signing bonus can scare some people away. Unlike the Texans, I don't think the Bills are that far off from being a major playoff player. Take a small cap hit but free up space by releasing Moulds, M. Williams, Posey, Vincent and Milloy. Sign some good free agents at alot less money and draft well. Fill our needs in the trenches (OL and DL). Crowell can take Poseys' spot. Baker is ready to take over one of the safety positions. Our QB play should be improved with more protection and experience for Losman. We might have to go through one more down year but I really see this team fighting for a Super Bowl birth in 2007 with Bush/Losman/Evans leading the way. Our new triplets!

Here we go "Coach" 1,200 yards this season is not as impressive as his 1,100 in 11 starts last year. Last year he was fantastic but he's been the biggest disappointment this season on the offensive side of the ball. Willis is not a big play threat, he doesn't break tackles and certainly isn't a top 10 back in this league. Of the top 30 rushers this season only Lamont Jordan and Jamal Lewis had long runs this season shorter than Willis' 27 yarder.  While i think willis is a good back, right now he's nothing more than a louder version of travis henry.  His stats are comparable to TH but TH never opened his mouth wide enough to stick both feet in like willis did earlier this season.  I think willis can be a very good back in this league and yes the o-line needs to improve, but willis is not the elite back that some would leave you to believe. He's just a work horse. The elite backs like Shaun Alexander, Tiki Barber, Larry Johnson, and LT change games, willis simply does not do that he pounds the ball and rips off the occasional 7-yarder.

  2. First two seasons in the league over a 1,100 yards each year with a below average line blocking for him and below average passing game which leads to defenses stacking the line of scrimmage?? Yeah, your right...............McGahee isn't a proven back. Good one Sherlock!

Please! Willis a proven back? What has he proven? He can't break the big play, he can't block and hasn't averaged more the 3.9 ypc in his career. I don't see him as a buffalo bill too much longer because he is a lot of hype just like NC and the rest of this team coming into this season.

    548308

  3. P.S. Can you imagine what drafting Bush would do for our franchise.

You think Bledsoe was a big acquistion at the time?

Bush would probably put Bills merchandise/jerseys toward the top of the list in the entire NFL which is an area we've been lacking in for sometime. A player like Bush has that kind of impact.

I would love to see the Bills package one of their 3rd round picks with McGahee for the top spot to land Reggie Bush.

I know you might be thinking thats crazy but as a Bills fan, I have been disappointed that McGahee hasn't taken his talent to the next level and is not a threat to break a long touchdown run as proven by these past two seasons.

His knee still scares me as well since I still can't believe he made it back from that first major injury.

Bush looks like the next Barry Sanders and if we can get an offensive line with some key free agents and draft, Bush is am easily 2000 yard All-Purpose back (running and receiving).  Heck, he's a threat to break one every time he touches the ball.

Yes, we will have to pay a huge signing bonus and take a salary cap hit but for a dream player like Bush who will be the most exciting player on the field and fill Bills seats year after year..............I say go for it.

Why would the Texans possibly take a chance on a trade like this.  Maybe because McGahee is a proven tough back and they need help all over the field so stacking draft choices and signing big free agents is more important to them then trying to sign one player to a large contract.  Besides, they already have a good diminutive back in Dom. Davis who would probably take over 3rd down plays.  Davis is also prone to injury so thats another reason why I can see the Texans interested in a big back like McGahee.  What do you all think?

  5. Funny how everyone (myself included) predicted the Bills to be a possible playoff contender if the defense would be able to cover Losman's growing pains while the Sabres were predicted to be in the basement after a less then stellar off season.

So, as the Bills continue to have a good first drive of every ball game and then get killed the remaining 3 quarters on their way to another ugly defeat......................the Sabres just keep on winning!!! They have now won 11 of their last 12 with (9) of them coming by a single goal. I can't even remember the last time the Bills pulled out a close win while the Sabres continue to do it all year. I don't think anyone could have predicted these two things. Lets look at the bright side of all this...........we will have at least one Buffalo sports team in the playoffs and at least one team with a very high draft pick. Through the draft, free agency, and development of some of our important young players, THE BILLS WILL BE BACK IN 06. THE SABRES TIME IS NOW AND RYAN MILLER IS ALSO COMING BACK SOON!! WHOPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!

  6. P.S. Rebuilding doesn't have to take years and years. Look at the Kurt Warner Rams, this years Bears/Bucs, the Panthers a couple of years ago. We should have never mortaged so much of our future for that one average at best, past his prime, overpaid stiff in Bledsoe.

Re the Bledsoe trade,  on balance I think it was bad.  However,  people make one common error.  Did he cost too much?  Absolutely.  Did we lose a #1?  Yup.  But guess what - if we didn't make that trade,  that #1 would have cost us first round money.  Not as much as Bledsoe probably,  but over a million + signing bonus.  And if we had gone with Van Pelt it would have been top 5 Mike Williams money, much closer to Bledsoe's salary!  So the idea that we could have kept Winfield is a bit simplistic.

    528618

  7. VanPelt would never have commanded anywhere near Bledsoe's salary.

I would have preferred to take one step back with Van Pelt at the helm, rebuild through free agency and the draft, and not lose key players to our defense like Pat Williams who should have finished his career in Buffalo. Even a first round pick would be nothing (cost wise) compared to the dough dished out to Bledsoe.........not to mention the fact Bledsoe is on the downside of his career and a first round pick (especially if it was off. line help like we always need) would have been a much better/cheaper/longer investment then Bledsoe. If your gonna give up a first round pick, it better be for something incredibally good. Don't forget, Bledsoe is still taking up alot of dead space in our cap this year due to his ridiculous overpaid salary.

  8. I agree, if McNally had some more talent to work with and April/Krumrie are kept...........things could be much better. You can only get so much production out of people like Mark Campbell, Euhus, Tim Anderson, Sape, etc...

Those guys just don't cut the mustard.

well i hope the next gm keeps some of the coaches.i'd hate to see bobby april leave or tim krumrie or sam wyce and even jim mcnally.as bad as our line is jim didnt sign or draft these guys.we shoulda known something was wrong when td was passing on the likes of marvin lewis, john fox ,charlie weis and even jim fassel.

    528599

  9. TD goes with his heart, not his head like he should. Mularkey got the job on his Pittsburgh connection. Trading two good draft picks including a #1 for Bledsoe has set this franchise back. Bledsoe is a decent servicable QB but he wasn't worth the draft picks and salary cap room we gave up. We could have kept either Winfield or Williams with that Bledsoe money. Although Bledsoe had a great game today, he usually bites the dust during big games as we all have witness so many times.

Yes, TD has managed the cap well but his drafts have been inconsistent and his failure to address our offensive line needs year after year has once again led to a terrible running game and no protection for our QB. I thought Losman was going to get decapitated today. The poor kid was running for his life out there. No wander he has a hard time completing passes. Heck, we don't even have a TE who can catch a ball.............even for just a 5 yard gain.

Why do you think we were so successful during our Super Bowl years............because we had a great Off. Line to go with our awesome position players (Kelly, Thomas, Reed, Lofton, etc..) THE GAME IS WON UPFRONT!

We had Polian and Butler to thank for that. How did Ralph ever let egos get in the way and let those two go? We have one of the worst, if not THE worst Offensive lines in the league................I'm including the TE with that assessment!

Sometimes I think that McGahee surprise draft pick and the Bledsoe trade on draft day were just done just for TD to get headlines and keep his ego satisfied with all the attention. He misses on a huge #4 draft pick in Mike Williams and 5 years has been more then enough time to get the ship straightened out. Well, the ship has sunk and all the Bills players have jumped off. The reality is we need to get rid of TD, Mularkey, and all the misfits that they have brought with them and start new.

Remember when we had to sit through last years draft and watch while we had no first round pick thanks to TD. Well, now we are going to have a great draft position and hopefully our new management team, whoever they may be...........will bring the Bills back to respectability and finally a championship to Buffalo!

  10. Is there any news on Kevin Everett? I know we don't use the TE in our offence which still bothers me, but I would love to see him get some touches with the ball.

He is suppose to be big, fast, and great hands. Our present TE's are the worst in the league and we haven't had a really good one since the Jim Kelly days.

Any info on whether he will be activated or not would be of great interest. There was suppose to be a decision by the end of this month I think. As long as he would not risk reinjuring his knee, I'm dying to see him in action and give us another threat that we sorely need on offence.

  11. GET A LIFE!

Kudos for the undercovers for not makin the arrest. Complete waste of taxpayers money trying to prosecute non-violent MJ offenders.

I had the same thing happen to me at a concert at the old Aud. This Big Black Security guard came over to me grabbed my joint then proceded to extinguish it. the only difference is he stuck it in my shirt pocket and waived his finger at me.

I moved to a diferent section and finished it, but it was still nice of the man to allow me the opportunity to find a new place ot smoke my J.

  12. My wife and I will be flying from Virginia up to Buffalo to see the Bills opener with some great 50 yard line seats courtesy of our good friend #89. Now we're trying to go see the Bucs-Bills game in Tampa for the second game of the season and we're having bad luck trying to get tickets. I use EBAY and STUBHUB.COM extensively and hard to find good middle of the field seats for a decent price. We definitely don't mind paying good money for great seats but we don't want to have to take out a loan like we would if we used STUBHUB!! Any suggestions so we can purchase good tickets ASAP????

    Thanks,

    Coach

  13. Stubhub.com is offering a ton of tickets in all different sections for the Bills home opener. The mid field lower level seats I'm looking for are incredibally overpriced. $289 for two seats in section 112 row 12. Can anyone help me do better?? The $289 is including ridiculous fees added by stubhum.com.

Seats were still overpriced at $115.00 a piece.

  14. Nice suggestion..........I found an add for two tickets in section 135 row 30 something I think and he was selling them for face value. Only problem was they are already sold. I will keep checking back daily until I can find similar seats. Thanks for the great help.

Coach85...don't be disappointed if all you can get are seats in the upper deck between the 20's.    They are not that bad.

PS As the summer goes by, I am sure you will be able to find seats in the lower bowl between the 20's for sale either on ebay or in the classified of the buffalo news.....

    http://www.buffalonews.com/classified/merchandise.asp

Click on this link and then go to ticket counter(listed under general merchandise).  There isn't much there now, but you'll have plenty of choices as the season draws closer.

    305818

  15. P.S. I had also looked on EBay and StubHub.com to find tickets before my post as well with nothing good available. Well, StubHub looked to have some pretty good seats but mostly in the endzones and priced way out of whack.

Money is not an object but should be at least somewhat realistic!

Unfortunately for me, I have only been able to go to one Bills game my entire life so I'm not sure of the best process for getting the best tickets early.  I have been a Bills fan ever since I can remember watching T.V. and now being in Northern Virginia the past 12 years, its even harder to get out there.  I called the Bills box office yesterday about getting tickets BEFORE my post and they only were selling $400 a seat season tickets up high.  I am aware of single season game tickets going on sale sometime this summer but was trying to speed up the process of making sure I could get great seats early to help set up a fantastic 1 year Anniversary for me and my wife.  Kudos to GUFFALO for really going out of his way with giving us great ideas and suggestions for an awesome weekend.

Well I apologize if I upset you with my wisecracks, but the set up was just so perfect I couldn't resist.

An honest answer is this.  Tickets aren't on sale yet and when they do become available I'm sure someone could help you out.

  17. GUFFALO has helped with the tremendous plans.

Now we need help with purchasing two great seats with money no object.

We also would like to attend a great tailgate party before game as well as a Sunday night hotel reservation recommendation for somewhere close to the Ralph and the airport.

We already have our hotel reservations for the Fri and Sat at Sheraton on the Falls like Guffalo suggested.

    QUOTE(COACH85 @ Mar 8 2005, 10:25 AM)

I know the schedule isn't out yet but does anyone have an idea when it will be released? Also, my wife and I are newlyweds and part of the "prenup" was for her to become a die hard Bills fan. Lucky for me, she wanted to be one anyway.

We want to plan a fantastic weekend in Buffalo for the Bills first home game next year with a Saturday visit to Niagra Falls.

    We need help/suggestions for:

How to acquire top notch seating somewhere between the 30 yardlines -

    Great places to eat -

    Really nice hotels -

Best rent a car company -

Must see sites or attractions time permitting -

Money is not an issue for anything although we don't want to be stupid and overpay for things we don't have too.

Any ideas or suggestions is greatly appreciated since this is our first trip together to see a Bills home game (we saw Bills at Jets last year in the Meadowlands).

This is also the first visit for me to a Bills home game since the Mike Ditka undefeated Bears came to town back in the 90's and the Bills crushed them.

We are really excited about this trip.............please help!!!

WE WILL BUY TWO GREAT SEATS FOR WHOEVER CAN COME UP WITH THE BEST PLAN FOR OUR WEEKEND!!!!!

    Thanks,

    Coach and Dorisel in Virginia

    >"Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.

In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."

  18. All I know is that all the people who have responded are awesome and we have already compiled a nice list of options from only one day that we could have never imagined trying to pull off on our own. We are extremely appreciative of everyone's input and we have no doubt it will be a memorable weekend for the both of us. My wife is truly becoming a die hard Bills fan as we didn't miss a single game at Champps Restaurant in Northern Virginia last year and we wear our Bills shirts for every game. Going up to Buffalo to take in our first live game together...................well folks, life doesn't get any better then that. Going to Niagra Falls, taking in some Casino action, tailgating the day of the game................thats just the icing on the cake. Thanks again fellow Bills fans.........YOUR THE BEST!! <_<

I mentioned it at 12:13......actually mentioned the get together at Danny's the night before too.

  19. Good point Jokeman and maybe Beebe would have been worth just under 3 mil per season but I think Gardner has more talent and potential then both of those guys combined and would really give us the great 3rd receiver we've been looking for. Reed was dropping balls left and right last year and it seemed like he lost complete confidence in himself. I was completely disappointed with him last year. Just because Moulds broke out in his third season, doesn't guarantee Reed or Aiken will too.........just a thought.

Beebe's career stats vs Az Zahir Akim's . Tell me you think Az Zahir Akim is worth $3 million a season?

    267297

  20. Remember when we had Reed, Lofton and Beebe?

If these were our starting WR's in today's market and they were in their prime...........Beebe would be a bargain at 3 mil per year and yes I would pay that for a great 3rd WR. I want to believe in Aiken and Reed but Reed regressed and Aiken is a below average receiver. I still think we need to improve the OL first but acquiring Gardner was just a thought.

Bring back the K-Gun except now its the J.P. Gun

You want to pay our third WR 3 million a year? Ummmmmm, yeah.
