I'm competing in David Nelson's Bracket Challenge over at ESPN. He's awarding prizes to the top-three:

    3rd- Autographed jersey

2nd- $100 Gift Card to Dick's Sporting Goods

1st- Pair of tickets to this year's home opener.

I'm sitting 3rd with a prediction of Kentucky beating Kansas Monday night; first and second have Kansas winning the game. So, I'm all-or-nothing on winning this thing (no one can jump over me but I'll fall far in the standings if Kansas wins). I want to win those home opener tickets so bad. Plus, my birthday is in September (surely the home opener will fall in Sept.) so it would be extra sweet!

So, if you have no other rooting interest for Monday's National Championship game, consider rooting for me to win those tickets from David so I can make a return trip to Buffalo.

    Go Wildcats!

  2. For those of us who follow on Sal on his internet show, I can't agree more. He does a terrific job calling it as he sees it, whether it's good or bad. To think, not even a year ago he left his job in Florida as a teacher; he and his wife made a blind jump to move to Buffalo without any job prospects lined up. His wife found a job in her profession and we've been fortunate that WGR has given him a chance. I only see his role in the Buffalo media growing until he's the premier sports journalist in WNY.

When the USA shocked Russia, 4-3, at the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics, Curt Chaplin was covering the game as a sports reporter for the ABC Radio Network. Standing on a camera platform in the crowd, he did play-by-play of the entire game into his tape recorder, capturing the event on tape forever. Now, after 25 years, these tapes have been rediscovered and matched to the video. The result is a dramatic, stirring and completely original experience for sports fans all over the world. Now you can relive the #1 sports upset of the 20th Century in a whole new way, through new eyes and a new voice. Still as fresh and exciting as the day it happened. Curt's call has been accepted as an exhibit by the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.

  4. been toying with that... but I decided to keep ...in England and just add "now in Canada" as my status.

So, you won't consider "Nick In The 'Loo"?

Seriously, congratulations to you. A remarkable journey to get to this point. Hopefully nothing but good times and great on-field results in 2012.
