I am not sure how ANYONE, (media included) can draw any conclusions from last nights game.

If the doom and gloom is the focus from last night, you are spinning your wheels

    Overall season, I understand

Can we draw something from the Colts game ?  How about the Jags?  We're 2-3 in the last 5 and in the last 2 losses--both at home--we've given up 500 yards rushing.  Call me crazy, but I think we can definitely draw something from that.

  2. More facts: TD has continued to bring talent to a small market, cold weather team that has 31 other teams competing for the same talent. TD has built for us a playoff caliber defense and special teams. There are only two teams in the past four years that can say they were truly successful: The Pats and the Bucs. If TD needs an extra year or two to get the pieces in place to truly allow us to contend not just for the playoffs, but for THE prize, I'm down with that.

First of all, I don't measure success by whether or not we win the Superbowl. The playoffs would be a good start.

Second, the numbers do suggest our defense is good, but I'm still wondering why we couldn't stop Brian St. Pierre and the Steelers--who ran the ball 13 straight times--when we needed our "playoff caliber defense" most.

And I'm all for giving TD the time and resources to make this team successful, but the clock is ticking and quite honestly, I don't see a rookie QB leading us to the playoffs next year.

  3. When the Bills finally win the SB, he should be the first to hold the trophy.

All of you people love to bach him for certain draft picks (which can be a crap shoot anyway) and other moves.

Point is, this magnificant SOB came out of nowhere and signed BY FAR the best QB available to us. When I heard that last night, in a passing note on EPSNews, I was shocked. Fieldler who? Garcia who? How did TD convince Kelly Holcomb to take such a low level salary? Its just over double the league minimum.  Now lets not forget some of us questioned the signing of Lee Evans. Anyone can to search the archives? (I even had initial questions about it, since I'm not big into college FB.)

And his legacy will always be picking the guy with the busted knee that no one felt like taking a chance on.

How awesome is this that he got us a QB who we should feel FINE about competeing for the starting role?

I don't know how you did it, but TD, this Bud's for you.

Easy cowboy, the guy signed a backup QB and you're ready to throw him on your shoulders. Face the facts: this team has a losing record in the 4 years TD has been in charge. Until that changes, the best thing I can say about the guy is he's a good accountant.

  4. I want to dump Lindell as much as anyone else, but we have much more serious concerns before a kicker, including OL (both starting and bench guys), a CB if we can't resign Nate, an LB if we can't resign London, etc., so a kicker is not a top priority IMO. Certainly not worth our 2nd round pick.

  5. If Muhammad can stay healthy, he is an excellent pickup for the Bears.  At WR, Chicago have the overrated David Terrell and a bunch of 4th and 5th string WR's.  He will turn 32  in 2005 and should have at least 3 good season left in the tank.

It is a good grab for the Bears, I like Muhammad, but who will get him the ball?

  6. There is almost no way he gets out of the 2nd round.  There are just too many teams with RB needs for him to survive that long.  So look for the Bills to move up to the first round and draft him.

I agree with Steve, he'll go in Day 1 for sure.

  7. Many of us are quite aware of what TD typically does. I am in full support of TD and have been during his time here. Nowhere am I saying sign him for 5 mil. As I said, this may be just the beginning of negotiations.

I'm all for giving TD the time and resources to lead this team, but he hasn't shown me much in 4 years, and I don't see much happening in year 5. How long do we wait for success?

  8. Here's another old article about JP

Donohoe bet the farm on Greg Williams and Rob Johnson and now.....

No way can JP be groomed before the nucleus of this team is disbanded. Mark these words The whole "small market" franchise is in jeopardy and riding on the hopes of a raw not very bright college kid with all the "physical skills."

    252393

I agree with you, this team is bound to regress and by the time JP learns the game (assuming he does) we may not have the key players on this team. It looks like we're letting PW walk, which is another big mistake.

I'm sure Pittsburgh is pissed to have seen TD leave....2 playoff appearances in the 4 years he's gone.

  9. There's no doubt Dallas has a better chance to make the playoffs next year. They've got a bunch of talented players on offense and 2 first round picks to sure up the defense. And before anyone proclaims DB will take them no where, let's not forget Tuna has been to more superbowls than anyone on this current team.

  10. From the article WGR article, I do agree with DB that we should have opened it up for competition instead of crowning JP king without so much as a fight. And why not? This team was on the verge of the playoffs, we should be thinking about the playoffs next year, not how long until JP develops and takes us there.

If JP is as good as everyone wants to believe, let him demonstrate it with a solid camp. If he struggles--which is more likely than not given the current status of our OL and the history of rookie QBs--we're looking at making the playoffs in 2006 or later.

Just my $0.02, though I'm sure my opinion is in the minority.

  11. And best of all, when Travis is traded, we can all start talking about what a piece of sh-- HE was and how poorly he'll do.  Oh joy!

    250356

Yeah, he really sucked, especially in 2003 when he only had some 1400 yards and 10 TDs. 2002 was just as bad, a meager 1500 yards and 13 TDs and a Pro-Bowl. Thank goodness we're getting rid of that piece of sh--. ;)
