  1. Didn't see crick much because he tore his peck but had a good junior year would be a nice addition not sure what position he'd be for us since they "wont say" what D we will run.

Ingram is pretty good too but wasn't overwhelmed with his pass rush and am not sure how he would transition to OLB.

crick reminds me of another white boy we drafted out of neb.. kelsay... stay away...

  2. Everyone wants to sign jackson longterm. I dissagree JAMES and SPILLER EQUAL ALOT OF SPEED that opens our passing game up by far

why franchise freddy when hes under contract for next yr? hes NOT a FA

Wow!? just when I thought the Keith Ellison thread was bad. We don't need 2 waterbugs, Fred is one of the best backs in the league and I certainly wouldn't draft James, I'd rather draft Doug Martin from Boise.

And what DE would you trade him for?

for once i agree with u... maybe he thinking the giants with trade on tuck JPP and osi for freddy... and while we are dreaming, why not get their 1st round pick while we are at it!

  3. Anyone who thinks offense is our "key" to the offseason is off their rocker.

We were 14th in the league in points scored (not great, but slightly better than average)...

We were 30th in the league in points given up.

The *real* key to the off season is turning our defense into something that isn't an absolute embarrassment.

The offense will get better when there isn't so much pressure on them.

D we should draft and sign FA for depth and maybe 1 solid starter...

  4. Took the words right out .... 100 % post.

i didnt mean replaceable in that sense.. we just need to play hardball and not OVERPAY him.. hes 30+ and coming off a season ending injury, not to mention hes still under contract.. he should not be a priority.. worst case sceranio hes a training camp holdout and we work it out at end and hes a RB, no biggie if he shows up late, he knows O perfectly... we have more pressing needs to spend our $ on... they SHOULD PLAY BOTH RB'S.... give freddy 20-25 touhes a game via run and air and spiller 15ish... saints do it with sproles and use a bunch of guys as the regular back.. we use freddy as every down back and spiller gets full series, and stays on field on 3rd along with freddy cuz they are both great security blankets for QB... i amde VERY valid points and everything is doable and manageable.. this is still a business, dont just pay freddy top dollar cuz buddy have his word.... this is nfl... look at colts situation with MANNING.. things change after a major injury to a veteran player..

  5. College Stock Watch: Tannehill's ability second only to Luck's

There are several great college quarterback prospects. While Andrew Luck* is the nation's top signal-caller , the second spot isn't as clear.Texas A&M's Ryan Tannehill has the athleticism, arm strength and intangibles to be a star.

With Aaron Rodgers the NFL's most dominant quarterback, more teams are seeking athletic passers who can play inside or outside of the pocket. Tannehill, a 6-foot-4, 222-pound receiver-turned-quarterback, has shown he can do damage with his feet or arm. He nimbly avoids rushers and has the mobility to pass once protection breaks down. While some athletic quarterbacks look to run first when leaving the pocket, Tannehill keeps his eyes up the field hoping to find an available receiver. His awareness and improvisational skills are impressive considering his lack of experience as a quarterback.

As a drop back passer, Tannehill is not quite as polished, but has the tools to make all of the throws. His arm strength is above average and he has excellent range on deep throws. From an accuracy standpoint, he is outstanding on short-to-intermediate passes. He excels on in-breaking routes between the hashes, but is also capable of delivering the ball with zip on deep outs and comebacks.

In looking at Tannehill's flaws, his inconsistency and touch on deep balls stands out. He routinely fails to connect with open receivers on vertical routes despite a strong arm. Some of his problems stem from his lack of timing and anticipation, which can be corrected with more experience.

Tannehill's limited résumé (13 games as a starter) is also a potential issue for evaluators. His learning curve likely will be steeper than more seasoned prospects.

However, the recent successes of Cam Newton and Mark Sanchez despite their limited playing history could alleviate those concerns and prompt a team to focus on Tannehill's immense potential as a franchise quarterback.

ur on serious crack... A&m was a preseason top 15 and looked how they stunk.... hes a LOSER... and i dont care what any article says, he wont make it in NFL

im not saying to replace freddy.. no reason to not hve BOTH on field... use spiller more like saints use sproles.. 4-5 catches and 10-12 carries a game and give freddy 20-25 touches.. im stating FREDDY is still under contract.. this is a bizz... make him a reasonable offer for his age even though hes coming off a career knee... hes also over 30 and coming off a big injury... buddy would not be a LIAR if he didnt pay freddy like he said he would... an outside variable came into effect.. a TRIP TO IR... that gives him leverage to re do freddys deal at bettter price.. remember, we need to save as much as possible cuz of how cheap we are.. dont just pay a guy based on ur WORD... hes still under contract... worst case scnerario he holds out and plays angry... but my feeling is, both sides will be reasonable and it will get done as will stevie... chandler is the odd man out cuz i dont think they care enough and feel like even though he was solid.. hes replaceable for less money cuz of his gaudy td numbers...

hey moron, look at date of that article.. b4 he stunk up joint and had most disappointing record for aggies when they had the team to do well..

  6. KEYS TO OFFSEASON:

1st: resign stevie.. he is not a true 1 but in our offense we dont need a true one cuz fact is we can play with multiple sets and spread ball around which makes it harder to defend cuz they dont know who to double team... we have 2 VERY solid RB's (dont think they should pay freddy big bucks, he is still under contract, either rework deal for 30 yr old back prices or trade him...) we are too cheap to spend big $ on a 30 yr old RB when he drafted spiller in 1st and RB r easy to come by... would be very replaceable with a vet guy that can take 10 carries a game in tough yardage for use spiller for 15-20 carries and catches out of backfield... once we re-sign stevie, sign another 1B WR or a good 2 WR... guys like veincent jackson, bowe, even meachem etc..... i would think balt might cut evans after yesterday and i still think he can be productive, he made a few solid catches and that catch in endzone looked good and should have AT LEAST went to replay.. made a huge catch week b4 and had a few under neath catches yesterday.. i think his ego will be alot smaller and realize if he wants to be a player in league... hes got to be better route runner and not jsut a bomb threat... if he came back humbled... and accept being #2 and still have nelson who i love as slot guy and our other young guys, we would have a great WR corp...

2nd: either resign chandler to under 5 mil a yr... hes not worth more.. plenty of guys avaiale to fit his role and has solid hands and great redzone threat but he cant stretch a D like other modern day TE's... TE could be crucial position is used correctly and all big O's have a legit TE..

3rd: add some depth at tackle and hopefully resign bell to REASONABLE deal... we need to be smart in our negotiating, guys has proved to be VERY good when healthy but its evident guy gets nicked up and misses games... i think he could probably get paid bigger $ in FA but i think alot of teams see draft as better area to get a starting LT and cheaper cuz he always gets hurt.. with hairston having a yr under his belt and full offseason, 2nd yr u see biggest improvement in oline.. wood and levtire have come along and RT is safe now with pears.. id bring in a solid wing tackle who can back up both sides and possibly move to guard like nix has stated.

3rd: sign a good DB and a vet pass rusher.. DB should be startable with williams.. get rid of old weight in mcgee and florence and i still think between leodis and rogers we have a 3rd and 4th CB and spend a mid round pick on CB and another late pick pick on 1... we need a situational pass rushing vet who doesnt need to be every down player.. in a 4-3 our tackles are set... kelsay will be solid at 1 spot and we via draft we go mainly D especially in early rounds... draft speed and players from SEC d's... would love to upshaw in 1st... and hightower type in 2nd.. i think we can get a starting olb or pass rushing DE with 10th pick and to have him rotate with kelsay and a vet pick up on ends are fine assuming we are in 4'3 and carrington is 4th in rotation..

LBs- shepp is a player and can stay in middle and think we would barnett Outside.. barnett would be better outside than inside in a 4-3 cuz he bitzes better than shepp and covers better... shepp is better in the grind inside.. we need to draft a LB and DE in 1st 2 rounds...

rest of draft.. hopefully get mid round TE will upside, i wouldnt be opposed to a guy like fleener in 2nd or 3rd if he drops but with era of TE, dont think he lasts till 3rd..

add 2 Cb's for depth, our safeties are fine with byrd at FS and wilson and searcy backing him up at SS..

et 5th or later QB in guy like keenum has has WON and is no timmy chang, hes 100 times than those system QB;s and dont forget , our O is alot plike a college spread.. he would actually fit our system well.. i am not a fitz lover but no QB this yr outside of top 2 who we wont have a chance for is worth a pick in top 3 rounds...im so sick of those one puts who keeps chirper about tannenhill, hes a loser and has way too much risk , big arm and good legs but no football IQ which is cvrucial in our style of O.. bring in backup QB in free agency like a quinn who could easily come to us with us bringing in LEE as qb coach..

i think this yr proved we had a ot of potential and got to develop alot of young guys who will be alot better next yr.. we have more hope than in a while... i wish we got a real QB, but this thread is meant to be realistic not just what i WANT us to do.. i see everything here making sense and from a financial stand point makes sense with our cheap FO.. we could easily be a player contender with 2-3 solid FA not guys like brad smith who we overpaid and didnt suit ANY need... soend that kind of money to an impact player...

  7. tannehill sucks more dick than a $2 hooker... would be the biggest waste of a 2nd pick... we our needs, we shouldnt even be thinking QB till 5th or later and snag a WINNER who has the intangibles but not the measurables that the "top" prospects have.... keenum would be my guy cuz he will be there late and is a lot more polished than any of the system QB's of previous yrs..

  8. We'll see when he's the next Elway.

U REALLY DIDNT JUST COMPARE TANNENHILL TO ELWAY..... that had to be in bold cuz you've been preaching about this LOSER non stop and he couldnt win and is way too raw to be worth a high pick on... while YES, he does have alot of TALENT, QB is not all about talent.. its about intangibles and he has NONE. have u watched him play in big games?? he plays like crap and gets nervous feet and will get destroyed in NFL with real defenses not college kids in big 12 who score 40 a game play in. the risk is VERY high with tannenhill and more things point toward high bust potential rather than all pro QB.. id be much come comfortable drafting D from bama and LSU and do the offense thru FA and that seems to be the way the front office is thinking.. like it or not, fitz is their guy for next yr and this regime doesnt have many chances left and i think they know it.. hence why they feel they have to make playoffs NEXT or the wont be around much longer... i think they will be a little more aggressive in FA than past yrs cuz job security will be an issue after the EPIC COLLAPSE this yr..

We are much more LIKELY to bring in a decent low priced FA qb and draft a very low risk POSSIBLE high reward in a guy like keenum, who has the intangibles but was a system QB in college HOWEVER he WON a hell of a lot of games... he is no breenan, or timmy chang and all those guys.. HOUSTON was a top team all yr and almost led that crap a team to a BCS game.. hes older, more mature, and will most importantly be available LATE like 5-6 th so if it doesnt pan out, who cares... if he WASTE a pick on a top 2 round QB it comes with many expectactions and will be a huge distraction if we start out 1-3 cuz ppl will be calling for fitz's head and wanna throw the rookie in... u take tannenhill and throw him out there right away and he WILL stink up the joint and the kid will make JP losman look like a good pick..

    ENOUGH WITH TANNENHILL

  9. I live in Portland. He is a horrible NFL QB prospect. His mechanics are awful. Dennis Dixon was a much better passer than Thomas. Everyone in Oregon is shocked he is leaving for the NFL. He played very well in the Rose Bowl and if he led the Ducks to another Rose Bowl win or another BCS championship game he could live off endorsement money in Oregon for the rest of his life. Now he will be lucky to be drafted. I would love to know who is advising him to leave for the NFL.

easy answer.... look who his agent is.... drew rosenhaus.... he loves to take guys on with some sort of pedigree and make a show out of it like he did with Pryor.. hes the ultimate salesman.. he pitched this kid and said ur stock wont ever be higher, which it probably wont after that rose bowl win.. dont forget the kid probably comes from no money and even a 6th NFL prospect cuz good money in reality to rest of world.. we dont know his family situation... but i can promise u, if u look it up, they have peanuts and 300-400 k a yr will change their life..

  10. when thigpen did get any limited action, he looked like a high schooler out there... i think we actually need 2 qb;s,

1 cheaper FA back up singing like a quinn who wont comprimise fitz as starter but the FO knows he was still a 1st round pick who really never got a TRUE chance to play. he did stink in cleveland, but that was just an awful offense..

2 a 5th or 6th round development QB like keenum... not a guy like levi brown.. take a WINNER who has true upside... flynn was a 7th round pick and about to become a VERY rich man...

  11. im not saying this is WHAT i want , im saying it strictly on facts about lee. he has taken over for cortez and was VERY likely to bring quinn to miami... their situation is similar to ours QB wise.. moore looked great down stretch but is he really a long term option if u cant get rg3 or luck which they wont.. if FO is not high on QB prospects which im hoping they arent, he may be best possible otpion via free agency cuz has starter skill set but never lived up to hype.. complete opposite of fitz.. who has zero talent just makes good decsions but just cant put ball where it needs to be consistently and makes some routine throws look too tough.. like it or not, this is gonna be a strong possibility cuz of Lee's love of quinn. we brought him on to be QB coach which is highest asst outside of OC and DC coordinator..

  12. answer is simple if u want a TE that can be a solid threat and also a threat after catch and thats fleener... guy was go to guy for luck and didnt always put up numbers cuz of lack of outside threats there so he saw alot of double teams, but he has most upside and star potential "new breed" of tight end..

  13. watching espn and mort who is most reliable source if nfl along with shefter just reported dolphins were close to hiring lee as OC or possible head coach and he has stated publicably that he has worked alot with quinn and hes him as a potential viable starter in right setting... we just signed him as our QB coach and i could easily see us bringing quinn in to be number 2 to start off but him knowing if fitz is awful and gets hurt hes one play from playing and not going to a team with a legit starter and could win job... he wont be expensive and could easily see us doing this this...

again, not saying this cuz i want/ think we should... just saying this may be reality cuz we clearly are not getting a 1st round QB and dont think front office likes any of 2nd tier guys enough to waste a 2nd or 3rd round pick in.. i agree with that, with jones and barkley going back to school id rather let all "prospect" go in 2nd and 3rd and take a flyer on a late QB like a keenum an worry about just D and oline in draft .

  14. I do expect our Bills to take a QB in the later rounds, to groom behind Fitz. If I'm correct, would you pick up Case Keenum, QB Houston? He threw for 5099 yards and had 45 td's and 5 int's this season alone. He's 23 years old though.

110% and this is more a reality than anything.. him or a kellen moore type...not one yr wonders.. look at dalton.. and even look at flynn and what he did at lsu and was a 7th rounder who beat out a2nd rounder in same yr (brohm for any of u that can bear to hear that name!).. thats tough to do when u both come into camp and the other guy was a 2nd rounder and ur a 7th... usually these guys get cut, or on practice squad and he WON back up job and when he got his chance to play, he broke a packers record... dont care if its 1 game, he did things favre, starr and rodgers havent done and he was playing with mostly 2nd unit guys... and that was a game that detroit needed.. thats not an easy job.. he made himself a very rich man cuz of that game with what someone will pay him.. i wish he would but thats not realistic.. our FO is too stupid and stubborn not see what is GLARING, fitz is AN AWESOME backup... help with game planning and so on, like having a QB coach as a backup. and can fill in and do the job if u go down... i would die to see us sign flynn but it wont happen... that will say fitz can get it done and problem is he can get us to playoffs but we will never be a contender.. im rather be a contender and pay the right guys.. draft will be heavy od D.. i think they sign solid but not "top guy" out there for a WR, like a meachem, or laurent robinson dont think we will pay bowe kinda guy if we re sign stevie which we MUST do... base offense around 2 RB's and 2 good WR and hopefully resgin chandler cuz was great red zone threat and as yr went on he became a much better 3rd down type TE and made a few nice 20 yarders. draft and sign a OL... and draft heavy duty D... MUST get pass rusher in 1st.. and stick with winners.. guy like upshaw would be perfect.. hes just an athlete and can do whatever u need.. we got dareus and shepp last yr who were leaders of those 2 D's in title game this yr, but more of those guys in 2nd and 3rd like a hightower who declared.. and sign a vet FA agent to be other corner next to williams.. our safeties are fine and searcy is good depth there.. we really arent that far away.. with those moves we can be playoff caliber team but a real QB could make us contenders..

i see us drafting mid round QB, i cant stand the post for tannehill and those guys... u can get winner later, hes jsut talented and underacheived in win loss column and had weapons.. i dont care about his talent, i like guys like dalton who was one of winniet QB's in college history.. didnt act like a rookie.. granted, he made some rookie mistakes, but learned from them and never seemed lost like guys like JP and edwards did.. dont forget, edwards and JP were "talent" picks, neither were winners.. edwards final yr in stanford they won like 1 game,.. hes used to losing.. i say draft a keenum or maybe moore is he lasts till 3-4th but no QB b4 that..

Another QB, who will be avaible that can be diamond in rough and 1 thing i know about win is hes a winner and leader.. is greg mcelroy.. for a 3rd string 7th round pick to go out and talk in public and know he will get cut cuz of remarks but truly doesnt care cuz he was disgusted by what he saw in jets takes balls of steel... this kid led alabama, one of highest pressure QB jobs in country and was solid.. i would love to see him brought in which would be realistic cuz its cheap, hes from jets, and is a WINNER. im so sick of hearing guys with potential.. i want guys that know what winning feels like so when they lose, they are pissed and come out next week with an edge.. i cant stand seeing them shake hands after a game.. if i busted my ass and gave 110% and got creamed, dont know about u, but id be embarassed, but go on twitter to talk about something irrelevant.. i love what taylor did from steelers.. pure class.. and genuinely felt like he let down city of pitt and steeler nation but didnt transfer blame or bad mouth teammates.. he said, " i had worst day of my career, and im sorry for letting down steeler nation " .. id take guys like that anyday. only prima donas on team can be a goofball like stevie but they must resign him with heavy fines for 15 yarders he gets..

  15. The guy has a great up swing. I really like Fitz but this guy is exciting to watch. Maybe bring him in for a QB challenge? Any thought?

he was already gonna be a hot commidity in free agency before he record setting game. i dont care if 1 game,he broke records on a team that has had 3 of what may go down in HISTORY as top to qb's.. starr favre and now rodgers.. if rodgers can continue playing at 75% of the way hes played last 2 yrs and win another 2 rings he will go down as best QB of our era over brady cuz manning and favre the other top 2 only have 1 ring each and thats what signifies the BEST.. after that game he had, he will want starter money and either be handed a starting gig and he will be more of a shaub than rob johnson in terms of backup with little experience going to a new team team to be the guy... dont forget, in his rookie yr he was a 7th round pick and for a 7th rounder to win the backup job the same yr team used a 2nd rounder on brohm and the coming into that college yr, brohm was being talked about as top half of 1st round... he all SADLY know how brohm turned out, but u would think by default with neither of them having any experience and based on where they were drafted brohm got alot more reps in practice and whether he stunk up the joint (which im sure he did) flynn HAD to be impressive to even make roster with at the time a young rodgers, and the other QB being another rookie.. they groom QB's there and they have said that they work VERY hard with rodgers first few yrs while he sat and would not have been an immediate success... another key point about flynn.... the guy was always the other guy.. in LSU he took over i think after russell who was so highly regarded in college (dont care how he turned out in NFL ) cuz flynn was a afterthought in college... he was just qb holding keys till next guy was ready.. but he won, and won consistently and was been in a great system...

I LOVED flynn b4 his big game and he may have had a shot at him if he did not have that game and bring him in as a high end back up and eventually he would take job from fitz... im not saying he is tom brady but has a lot of the same history.. brady was overlooked in college on hgher touted prospects like drew henson etc.. was a late round pick that sat behind an all pro and #1 overall pick in bledsoe... would i want flynn?????? id rather him over any QB outside of luck and rg3 which both are gonna be impossible to get... hes young enough to be a franchise guy and has less risk factor than a rookie and can come in and play a high level right away... also, in chan's system, its very QB friendly.. fitzy's overall numbers for yr are good on paper but its so rare he hits guys in stride even on completions.. when he misses he misses BAD and athletically hes average at best...

Now on to reality... NO CHANCE IN HELL they get him... hes gonna get at least 5 yrs 25 mil... which is cheap for a QB and as much as i hate it, chan and buddy are sold on fitz.. dont get me wrong, i dont hate fitz, but hes just purely not accurate enough... and drafting a mid round QB is sooooooooo risky and u never know how they turn out... ralph is cheap and considering he just paid fitzy huge dough to be the guy i highly doubt he will go out and pay big dough to another QB with the ammount of other needs we have. also, factor is teams past in bringing in high priced QB;'s, johnson who would cry if he missed his manicure... bledsoe who had a great first half of 1st yr and looked like a pro bowler then just became average after we handed dude key to city...

i really wish i was a fan of a team with a young innovative owner...

  16. Stevie just drops game winning passes. His drops of easy catchable balls have cost us one game per year since he's been a starter. and counting.

THIS...... his has probably the WORST drop of yr, 2 yrs in a row in league.... i love stevie, but hes a top #2, if we can get even a 2nd top #2 id be happy cuz sometimes its better to have 2 guys that are go to guys so defenses dont have a "clear" cut #1 to assign their best CB on... offense can be fixed very simply be FA.. if we can use spiller like NO used sproles but with less catches but more runs but just make sure he give him tocuhes and have him on field at SAME time as freddy with a another wr like VJ, or bowe etc.... we have 4 solid weapons plus nelson who is an above average slot guy and great red zone target due to his height.. but we need a guy that can at least fear teams that he can stretch field cuz donald jones is a number 4 or5 WR at least.. can step in for a game or 2 if someone is hurt, but the fact the we were"relying on him" early was absurd..

from seeing post season presser i have a strong feeling stevie will be back and they will get another WR and draft a mid round QB.. which i think is perfect cuz they love fitz, i dont but im not running team... so however much we rant, unless somehow rg3 drops to us, we are not getting a QB with barkley and jones staying in school... draft tons on D (try and do what we did last yr and get lsu and bama boys) and an OL or 2 and get 1 more vet on D and we are a legit playoff contender..

  17. ive posted a few times regarding upshaw and started a thread... but did u see his postgame interview... how we handed D MVP trophy to entire D and not caring about spotlight... all he cared was about the D pitching a shutout... not his personal stats... shepp led the LSU d for yrs, dareus same with bama and i think upshaw should be there at 10... NO BRAINER pick... i really hope watching this game and not smoking his medical marijuana for glaucoma! we drafted to top players from them last yr and should do the same this yr! these kids are born leaders and we already found a decent foundation on D if we can get 3 new starters maybe maybe one mid round pick like shepp starts by mid yr, and we can get one via FA.. our D could be a hell of a lot better..

  18. Great Bowl games have already been played. Does anyone consider, at this point, either of these teams as the best in the country? Last time they met it was the worst game between 2 top teams I've ever seen.

    What say ye?

i felt it was an awesome game.. i wish NFl was more hard hitter, every yard means something kinda game... this new school wide open offense is fun but this is an old school olden days guy. I'm 31 and wish i was able to see guys like starr, tarkenton, ditka, jim brown etc... were able to do.. i want these kind of kids of D on our team.. we got 2 last yr in dareus and shepp and would love upshaw and 1-2 guys from these d's... u add these kinda WINNERs or d to our d and it will do a change like houston this yr with 2-3 read good early D picks and i FA and on O,

very simple.. SIGN a VET WR, get a n OL like hairston in 4th.. ad depth thru FA in OL, need guys on bench that can step in when someone goes down, and dont miss a beat.. backup OLINE and to have 3 starter level guys in it due to soooooo many injury.. some minor, but i think biggest diff on on our offense this yr was losing wood. we single handily lost 1 game just by gailey using levitre on D... we had no chance that day whether we were playing packers or colts...

i just hope its not past buddy's bedtime cuz they is some serious talent on these d's..

  19. these are well coached ELITE d's that are littered with NFL talent and are proven winners. dareus and Shepp both as those schools and used a 1st and 3rd and dareus is the real deal and will be MUCH better and a nightmare for OL's next yr cuz we will have KW by his side in a 4-3 which will really free up edges cuz its gonna take 3 OL to guard those two and most likely the RB/FB will chip in them them.. shepp wasn great this yr, but with a REAL offseason and valuable playing time which who looked a little out place but sill made some plays and was generally viewed as solid pick and shows promise... after buddy's talk talking, i have a feeling they will resign stevie and add a veteran WR to play along him. Rb we are set with and like it or not fitz will be our starter next yr. if they plan to win and possbily make playoffs which in a 3rd yr of regime u have no choice cuz u probably wont be around after 3 subpar yrs. they know the best way to make playoffs is give fitz another solid reliable PROVEN weapon and draft for OL and D. i see our pick is a no brainer..

UPSHAW... veteran college player, plays on best D in college and will is EXACTLY what we need most... A DAMN PASS RUSHER! the kid is a player and the safest and best possible choice (unless) one of top 5 are available to us.. i really hope we draft 2-3 players in this game on D.. these kids are just taught the RIGHT way to play D

"Reiff declared for the draft this week, securing his spot as Kiper's seventh-best prospect and second best lineman, agreeing with most mocksters. Jury's still out on free-agent Demetrius Bell, who has had one injury-free season in four years, and last year's 4th-rounder, Chris Hairston, who got toasted by DE Mark Anderson of the Pats in week 17. Bills fans swooned over Bryan Bulaga last year, and would welcome Bulaga's successor at Iowa as a mainstay at LT. What impresses me about Reiff is his excellent use of hands, fast footwork, wide base and leverage, impressive balance, and a fight-to-the-finish ethic. The only thing that worries me with Reiff's selection is the scarcity of top-shelf defensive pass rushers in this draft, and going OT in the first round effectively limits the Bills' choice at a their #1 position of need. It defaults the Bills to finding their pass rusher in free agency (Mario Williams, anyone?)."

    2. QB Ryan Tannehill 6'4" 222 Tex A&M

"The Bills are not going to reach at QB after investing so heavily in Fitz, but if Tannehill falls to them in RD2, Ralph himself might sprint to the podium. The Bills need to look early for their franchise quarterback, and I like Tannehill. He showed his mettle in A&M's bowl win vs. Northwestern with a 67% completion rate and a 139 passer rating (not unusual numbers over his career), but it is Tannehill's leadership, quick decision-making, and accuracy that make him a savvy pick for development. I was especially impressed with Tannehill's resilience vs. RG3 and the Baylor Bears this season and his pinpoint passing and elusiveness in his past two seasons. Watch Tannehill's 2010 game vs. LSU and see if you detect an upgrade to the parade of poor passers (and playoff-free results) we've undergone since Jimbo left. While it means neglecting the pass rush yet again in RD2, the Bills absolutely need to groom a QB with better accuracy. Tannehill is a wise choice here. "

    4. DE34 Kheeston Randall 6'5" 298 Texas

    6. NT Nicolas Jean-Baptiste 6'3" 335 Baylor

My draft; since the likelihood of us going 43 is great I'll go that route otherwise the above draft is awesome.

    1. Reiff - finally a real LT

    2. Tannehill - franchise

    3. OLB Lavonte David 6'1" 224 Nebraska - Tackling machine

"LaVonte David transferred to Nebraska after playing JUCO for two years so he doesn’t have a lot of big time college football experience. However, in that short amount of time he has been able to make a name for himself. In his first year playing in the Big 12, he racked up over 150 tackles, 10 pass break ups, and 6 sacks. He is very instinctive and a tackling machine but his lack of size and scheme versatility may hurt him come draft day and he may not be drafted as high as most initially thought." New era Scouting

    4. TE Michael Egnew 6'5" 242 Missouri - could be our Aaron Hernandez

" During the 2010 campaign he caught 90 passes for 762 yards and five touchdowns. The beginning of 2011 has not gone too well for Egnew. Egnew had a decent senior season for Missouri, catching 50 passes for 523 yards and three touchdowns. Those are not great numbers for a Tigers tight end, but with a rushing quarterback and a ground game that could move effectively, Egnew did not got too many opportunities to catch the ball. The good news is that Egnew is s still a great pass catcher and he got more practice blocking than most Mizzou tight ends." College sports madness

    4. OLB Tank Carder 6'2" 238 TCU - great instincts, needs a little more strength but the rest is there.

"Carder is tough to peg when projecting to the NFL. He has spent most of his time at TCU in the middle of the defense. However, he could move to the outside at the next level due to his speed and pass rushing ability. Yet, he also fits pretty well in the middle since he is a very instinctual player who can sit back, read the defense and attack the ball.

Besides his knack for returning interceptions for touchdowns. He was still the leader of one of the best defenses in the nation, but the talent around him was better and he did not have to put up huge numbers. That will not change his draft status though. He is still a ball hawk who can simply make plays. Where he plays at the next level is still the biggest question and that will have to be answered before he can start thinking about cracking the top two rounds of the 2012 NFL Draft." college sports madness

    5. CB Trumaine Johnson 6'2" 204 Montana

"A raw, physically gifted prospect with upside, Johnson looks the part of a press corner — has a lean, high-cut, athletic build with exceptionally long arms, defined muscle and a projectable frame.Smooth, naturally athletic movement skills, including long, fluid strides and terrific ball skills — outstanding leaper who displays hand-eye coordination, body control and soft hands in the air.Freelances in search of big plays and lassos too many tackles. Is egocentric and will have to adopt a professional work ethic after being able to coast against inferior athletes on the practice field and on game days." pro football weekly

    6. WR Tommy Streeter 6'5" 215 Miami - 4.4 - 40

"with a long set of arms, big hands and is the kind of guy who can create mismatches down by the red zone and will go get the football even when covered up. He showcases a real toughness about his game willing to work the middle of the field and takes the shot. Possess body control to go up and get the football in jump ball situations as well.

Streeter also displays a deceptive vertical ability about his game as he builds speed as he goes down the field and uses his long stride to track the football and adjust to the play. He fends off the contact well of cornerbacks vertically, typically gets his body in position to make a play and can come down with some tough grabs."

    7. DE Codarro Law 6'2" 265 Southern Miss - will be a third rounder but for fun I will take him here while I can. Devastating tackler, nasty attitude, makes a ton of plays in the backfield.

"Law is one of the toughest college players I’ve seen when watching him on film. Learns to adapt on the fly right away. It does not take Law long to learn your teams playbook along with the pass rushing schemes that your defensive coordinator will assign Law. Very smart instinctive football player. Showcases great awareness at getting to the football. Law’s ability to get to the football as a pass rusher, run stuffer, or turnover machine is one of his primary strengths, had 7 sacks in 2009 as a sophomore redshirt, 6 sacks as a junior ,finished his career with 9.5 sacks in 2011. burst off the edge to win the one on one battles with his speed and aggressive ability as a pass rusher."
