  1. I am a bit confused by the "hero" status RW has achieved as owner of the Bills in death. His contributions in WWII, something I did not know, are certainly worthy of the term hero, but his ownership of this team does not make him a hero. It is pure speculation that an NFL franchise in Buffalo would not have existed without RW. In reality, a number of folks could have started a franchise here. Why do we think small. Buffalo is a great city, with unbelievable fans that support their team. RW did not create and keep the team in Buffalo due to his generosity. He made a number of business decisions that resulted in the astronomical growth in his investment. The fan base should not sell themselves short, we helped create this team as well (ticket sales, broad based community support, and tax dollars).

With that being said, RW could have made many more decisions if his primary goal was to keep the team in Buffalo. By all accounts it seems as if he encouraged that they remain here, but he was not willing to have his estate devalued by insuring that they remain here. RW, in death, did as he did in life, and that is make business decisions. It's his investment, his money, his asset and he could do with it what he wishes, but please rethink the party line that he was a generous person that we should call a hero.

OK, now everyone can attack me.

  2. While I agree you cannot measure heart, as the author says it's just another prospective. While I think the information may be useful, any GM who drafts solely on this information would be foolish. It would be interesting to see how the Hall of Famers score on this level. I imagine Jim Kelly was very slow in both the 40 and dynamic speed categories-

At any rate, I thought it was certainly worth a read considering we are back to off season dullness. Thanks for posting the link!

  3. BTW this was a great move by the Bills brass. They get a 4th for a guy that likely would have been released. Now move back in the second and grab an extra second next year. This would make the Watkins deal much more palatable. Let's face it folks Stevie was not in the future plans of this team. I wish him well.

I am probably one of the more negative guys on this board (hence the probationary status) but I am starting to believe that the front office knows what they are doing.

  4. You lose a guy Byrd who is top 3 in his position - you sign a good special teams player Graham and then Sign Chris Williams and Keith Rivers who are almost universally considered players who you do not want as your starters - I fail to see how this is an excellent job in free agency- those 3 signings cost more than what Byrd got or Byrd's franchise tag.

    +1

It amazed me how good teams find money to spend and we can't. How did the Saints make that work. You cannot say we are better today then we were after the last game of the season. We lost our best coach and our best defensive player (arguable)

  5. Wow- so we lost our best coach and -arguably- our best defensive player, and we are suppose to believe this team is on the right track. What a joke- we will be millions under the cap and old may Ralphy will be counting his dough. Being a Bills fan is humiliating. We really let this guy walk for nothing- TAG AND TRADE!!

  6. You gotta think that EJ is being protected by the coaching staff. NE playing for a possible home field advantage through the playoffs is going to be pretty invincible. Throwing EJ in there and watching him get beaten up is only going to fuel talk of him being a bust. The problem with that mentality is the perception that others on the team will think EJ is being favorably treated. If he his healthy he should go - rise or fall with the team. By all accounts that's what he wants to do. Why this staff is protecting him is beyond me. Let the guy play.

Now, to prevent others on the board from near certain attacks to follow. THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION WHEN LOOKING AT MARONE'S OWN COMMENTS AND THE FACTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES AS THEY PRESENT THEMSELVES.

  7. Three seperate injuries in one year. The first he misses a significant amount of camp, the second a significant amount of the season and the third the end of the season (I doubt he will be back in time for New England to humiliate them).

Future not looking too bright. Keep drafting qbs until we get one. I'm not worried about what it will do to anyone's psychie.

  8. Ben Franklin said "well done" is better than "well said". In short, everybody should be fed up with the 13 years of lip service. Winners win and losers lose. We are losers- plain and simple. It is going to take a lot more than words to change the culture. Bottom line we are 3-6- enough crap about we could be 7-2 or 8-1, we are 3 and 6 period. Now stop with the tough talk and go win.

This - and the last 13 years does not happen by bad luck. It all starts at the top. We have an absentee (virtually dead) owner who never recieved much respect in this league, a "CEO" who has no business running a billion dollar entity, a young GM, and a rookie coach. We are out claseed from the top to the bottom.

Those are the facts folk, plain and simple. 13 years of lip service with nothing to show for it where it counts- on the win side Excuse followed by excuse, followed by blame for injuries, bad calls, when the bye weeks fall, toughness of schedule.

I ask the question, if the Bills had paid for a real coach like Andy Reid and had a real owner, what do you think our record would be.
