We all have to factor in that TT was his QB all the time he was here. We all know that TT didn't like the middle of the field, so that might explain a little why his stats are skewed.
Just sayin.

Unless his name is Patrick Peterson he's not the best cornerback in football.
Correction, if his name is not Tre White, then he's not the best corner in football..

The kid is just really, really good, love his energy, perfect match for this team!

No offense to Shady, but I think he could do much better..

I think that for what the Bills were realistically willing to pay, they got the guy that was available to them when the rubber hit the road.

I'm just saying that people are going to get annoying with this Josh Allen topic.
It was bound to happen no matter who we got, and no matter what we ended up paying for him. That is the life of a Bills Message board member.

My ultimate nightmare scenario was staying pat at 12, taking BPA, and then taking nice, benign Mason Rudolph at 22. That is what a conservative coach would have done.
But, no, Beane and McDermott swung for the fences with the ultimate boom or bust QB prospect. He played his cards pretty damn well, and while I would rather have Rosen, you cannot deny that Allen could be a monster with a little tweaking.
Edmunds is just going to be so good, too. Just so good.
All in all, while I am still pretty sad we picked the other Josh, I am pleased that the FO is not sitting on their hands.
I think we got the right Josh, to be honest, I just think we paid maybe a bit too much for him, but of course I wasn't there, and both the Cards, and Miami wanted QB's.. So, Josh Allen it is, Go Bills!

I think they'll need to earn the job in training camp, but IMO it's very likely that Darnold and Rosen start, and that Mayfield comes in partway through the season (possibly after Hue Jackson gets fired)
Allen may start partway through the season, but if so it will possibly be because McCarron is struggling and the coaches are desperate, not because he's ready
But I'd like to be surprised
I mean, yeah it's possible, but we all know that TT will win them games, and their roster is no joke on paper. If Hue Jackson continues to lose withy that roster, yeah, Hue IS the problem.

Darnold has to beat out veterans BW, and McGowen, I doubt it. Mayfield will have to beat out the already anointed, TT in Cleveland, not happenin. Allen, surprisingly might be the only one of the lot that has a chance, but even this I doubt. AJ has been second fiddle to Dalton for 4 years, he ain't giving it up easily.

Just won $150 from DraftKings, loading my lineups with VGK players.. Sweet!

Seriously, does anyone believe that any of these guys, barring injury will win the day one starting job this year? I sure as hell don't.
Which begs the question: Why were 5 QB's taken in the first round.. LOL

Hey I'm as freaked out about the Allen pick as much as anyone but I'm not bent on being right about him more than I hope he turns out great for us. As to the accuracy thing, the film tells a better story. The raw numbers do NOT. When you watch the tape is the ball in the right spot? I've seen scouts talking about this about Allen, and attribute a lot of his raw accuracy numbers to being just plain skewed due to poor rout running, offensive scheme, for instance, Mayfield threw a lot of out-routes, and quick slants, or in general, easy throws. Allen did not run this type of offense in College; his OC decided to run with the long to intermediate type of game, where, you tend to throw it up, so to speak. If we take a look at the fantastic-4 QB's from this draft and compare those numbers, everything comes much more into focus.
I am in trusting the process ATM, because, well, what choice do I have, but I do have some skepticism about the pick.

Believing in a guy as a franchise - type starter and taking a 5th round flyer on a Nate Peterman are completely different.
Well although I agree, what I referring to was that they benched TT in favor of NP whom they thought was ready. Hey I wanted TT benched as well, but maybe we shouldn't be in such a hurry to just trust the process every single time our gut tells us that it smells bad..

Wait, I'm not on your list of awesome super duper draft prediction gurus? Well after tonight, I'll be a solid starter for years to come with my "Browns ain't takin a QB No 1", prediction, and of course my trade up to two scenario..
But to the guys you did mention, hell yeah, I love reading their posts, even if I do end up disagreeing here and there.

Opens the door to the three-way deal - Bills to #2, Giants to #4 with the Bills first pick next year and Browns to #12 and #22.
Not enough, IMO. Browns will want both firsts and their TT picks back, Giants will want 4th and 56, IMO.

Would this work - 12 & 22 for 4, then swap Shady & 4 for 2?
Nope, it will take both firsts and Clevelands 65th we got for TT. The just our 4th and 56th to land 2. The Giants wouldn't want Shady if they could nab Barkley anyway at 4.

Oh this is fun.
Predict who will go with the first 5 picks (1 point for every correct player, 2 points for player and team)
1. Darnold to Browns
2. Mayfield to Bills
3. Rosen to Jets
4. Barkley to Giants
5. Chubb to Denver
6. How many trades will occur during the first round? 7
7. How many quarterbacks will go in the first round? 5
8. Of the Big 4 QB’s, who will be the last one drafted? Allen
9. Which LB will get drafted first? Smith
10. Which player in attendance will fall out of the first round (1 point for every correct answer. Minus 1 point for each incorrect) Pass..
11. Will the Bills make a trade in the first round? If yes, with who and to where? (1 point for each correct answer) Two trades, first with Browns, and second with Giants for 2nd overall
12. Who will the Bills take with their first pick? Mayfield
13. Will the Patriots trade up? yes
14. Who will the Patriots take with their first round pick? Rudolph
15. Who will the Dolphins take with their first round pick? Jackson

Only if the Bills are targeting Darnold, which they may not be.

As I stated in another thread, it all comes down to what the Browns do at 1, and I am on record saying that they will NOT select a Qb here, however, if they do, it will be Darnold or Allen. If Darnold happens, the Giants will want out of 2nd overall. Here's what Beane will now do.
Bills to Browns get 4th overall, give up 12, 22, and 65
Bills to Giants get 2nd overall, give up 4th, and 56.
Giants get Barkley anyway and pick up draft capital in the process.
Browns get their guy and pick up excellent value.
Bills get their man, Jets suck balls, and Bills essentially get 2nd overall for amounts to two 1sts, one second, and one third plus Glenn.
I can live with that.
Tim-
-
It all comes down to who the Browns pick at 1, IMO. Beane and Co, have mapped all the possible scenarios, and they start to come to light at about 8:15PM Tomorrow night.
I am on record saying that the Browns will not pick a QB at 1 (I know that this is not in anyway popular thought), and if they do not, the Giants will have no interest in trading away that pick. If however, the Browns do pick a QB (most likely Darnold or Allen) then the Giants will be open to trading back to 4 for Barkley. The only way the Bills get to two is by trading to 4 with the Browns, who will have their QB already, and then trading to 2 with the Giants. I could see something like this happening.
Bills to Browns for No 4 overall, picks 12, 22, 65.
Bills to Giants for No 2 overall, Bills offer 4, 56.
Bills land their QB, for what amounts to two firsts, one 2nd, and one 3rd, oh and Glenn.
Not bad, I can live with that.
Tim-
-
I'd be happy with Darnold, even though I want Mayfield, but I don't think the Browns are picking a QB at 1, and if they do, it won't be Allen, IMO. Can't really argue with any of the reasoning behind your selections though, nice job, well thought out.

Smith falling to #14 is amusing. Funny how some mocks on tbd have the Bills getting their ‘guy’ while paying under market.
What's the market in your opinion? The market is what someone is willing to pay. Sure it might not happen like this, but who cares? And I can see Smith falling a bit, not because he isn't a top 5 pick but because all these QB hungry teams are jumping ahead. Who else takes Smith ahead of GB if the QB's are falling like flies? Maybe Oakland?

Darnold needs as much if not more work then Allen , Rosen is huge Bust !
I hope it’s Mayfield or Allen !!
I will go on the record here and say it Mayfield is By FAR the best QB in this draft !!
I agree, Mayfield would be my top choice for Bills QB, but it may not happen, UNLESS the Jets covet Rosen, which they might?
