Huh?  I don't remember that line of discussion from @GunnerBill at all

Wait, Wat?  Now you're claiming *I* was arguing that Josh Allen was "heading towards Ryan Tannehill territory"?

Show your receipts.  Does not sound like anything I've said, like, Ever.

I'm not a big fan of comparing player A to player B generally, and in particular I can not conceptualize two QB it's less apt to compare.

Wow, I can't even believe you're denying it.  That's an even worse look.  I'm not sure how to search for that but I'm not spending the time, just to show both of you what you said.  I know you both remember.

Houston are better than Jacksonville. I was the guy telling everyone here last offseason Houston was gonna be good. That roster is young and talented. People were sleeping on them.

I don't think they are a Superbowl contender yet, but they are not a Jags like one season wonder type story. They are going to dominate the AFC South the next few years.

You were also the guy telling everyone last year, Josh Allen was heading towards Ryan Tannehill territory.

I'm probably one of the most vocal "Elam is a bust" guys on the board, but man I really want him to prove me wrong.

He says "it's not like I was cutting corners, it's not like I wasn't listening, wasn't taking notes, wasn't preparing the right way... just that it allowed me to learn though..."

What does that even mean? He's clearly acknowledging he's fallen short, but if it was none of those things that held him back & he was doing all those things right, how did he learn anything from that?

I know he's trying to give off a positive attitude & show he's got a positive mindset, but it makes me think "well then why is a 1st round talent struggling to fight for a backup role if they're already listening, taking notes, preparing the right way, etc.?"

The idea that McDermott doesn't play rookies was always a silly excuse & definitely not true, but on the other hand he's being kept around for a reason. There's obviously still potential that the coaching staff sees, and he has had some clutch moments for us.

Hoping at the end of the year someone can quote this thread & say "Hahaha you were wrong!" but I've all but checked out on expecting anything from Elam.

Um, he's 23, entering his 3rd year and had a serious foot injury.  You've all but checked out on him?  That's just ridiculous.

Lots of people on this board making light of this situation wouldn’t be able to handle having their butt smacked by a member of the same sex.

Let’s have someone larger than you, who can overpower you, grind his junk into your rear end surrounded by his friends and see how the reaction is.

Lots of men experience this, it's called divorce court.

Disagree.  It is not about Josh needs hand holding;  It is all about the discipline/respect that you maintain that allows you to get to that next level.

If you see 2023 season summer camp videos - you can see Allen goofing and bantering with Dorsey.   While it might help him be relaxed, it also takes the edge off for him to be performing at the next level as it is humans for us to take that relationship for granted.

    I am sure Mahomes is not goofing around with Andy Reid;

    He already was next level.

Allen started playing better under Brady as OC as the accountability of his actions are now to Brady and not to Dorsey.   May be ALlen has realized that having the stronger professional relationship with his OC will help him win games and that was evident down the stretch last season.

Completely disagree with the bolded.  Allen was having a massive statistical year under Dorsey.  It wasn't an accountability issue with Allen.

Dorsey sucked.  He didn't prepare good enough game plans and couldn't make enough in game adjustments.

Josh is a total stud and also respectful.  I can't stand it when fans act like he needs his hand held or has some kind of psychological issues.

The team played better when Dorsey left because he was awful.

I'm down on Samuel due to the fact I know nothing much about him. Any playing time Samuel takes from Shakir or spilts in snaps would be a negative for me as I feel Shakir is the better and best option. Basically I want them on the same field and not sharing snaps

I'm not sure why you'd be down on a player you don't know much about.  He's a proven player in the NFL with 4+ productive seasons.  He hasn't had a great QB to play with, so I think he can be a really good player for us.  Shakir has a bit more to prove to be the better or best option over Samuel.

In saying that, they're going to be on the field together a lot, IMO.

the only downside is Josh took on covering a lot of that deficit down the stretch

which makes this a tough discussion. We could put weo, doc and Shakir out there at wr and probably field something better than several teams because we have Josh…. But is it a winner in January?

I suppose it is really comes down to what you think of our current group.  I think we have a real chance to be better.  My opinion goes against the grain because I'm a big believer in team harmony and I think more of this years group than most.  IMO for Buffalo, it will need to be, that 20xx team just came together.

Diggs became a problem. Gabe was big game Gabe wish he could.

I really like Samuel and think he's better than anyone the Bills have had with Josh, not named Stefon.  We're afraid to say it but Kincaid looks like an NFL star.  Keon and Shakir should contribute nicely in specific roles / routes / situations.  If Claypool wakes up, he's talented enough, to be a guy can have nice games and remind everyone.

You know, I've been looking at this thread title for a while now, and I thought it would be something to good to talk about.  So, I finally looked at the thread a couple of minutes ago, read several posts.   Here's what I've concluded:

I have no friggin clue what to expect from Shakir, and from the looks of the posts here, no one else does, either.

The one thing that several people have said and that I think is the best guess is that the Bills are going to spread the ball around a lot.  Someone will lead the team in targets, and someone will lead in receptions, but who that will be won't be known until pretty far into the season.  The Bills don't have a classic #1 guy any longer, but they have a lot of interesting talent to throw onto the field. Any one of Kincaid, Shakir, Samuel, or Coleman could end the season has the leading receiver.

For the passing game to succeed, someone has to go over 1000 yards.  Not likely that two will.   A successful season for the passing game might feature guys with the following total yards:  1400, 900, 800, 800.   Cook, Davis, Knox, etc. might total 600-800 together.  That's 4500 yards.  Completely doable, even though we don't know which guy will be at 1400.

It's up to Brady to design the passing offense and for Allen to execute it.   If they both do their jobs, the passing game will be fine because, even without a classic #1 guy, the receiving talent is pretty good, maybe very good.

The Bills didn't have a classic #1 since week 6 last year, in terms of performance.  I know Diggs commanded attention but I think we're ready for this.

    Bro, you look ridiculous. 😂😂

You’ve said multiple things in this thread that weren’t true and been called out every time. We tell the truth around here. It’s one thing to be wrong and get called out. We have all had that. It’s a whole different level when you keep pushing your chips in, falling further and further into the hole that you dug. That’s where you’re at. Go back through this thread and read every single interaction that we have had.

I honestly feel bad for you.  You have some real issues.

  11. 2 minutes ago, Kirby Jackson said:

Where? 😂😂 Are you talking about me saying that “if Coleman is good and Shakir develops, they can be average?” That isn’t saying what’s GOING to happen. That’s what I HOPE happens. Come on man, you’re better than that.

No one is coming to your rescue man.  Just admit it.  I promise you'll feel better.

You're so close, but feels like you're purposely skirting around what you said.  Own it.

Still not seeing where I said that I knew what would happen next year. That’s what you claimed earlier. Please quote it…You’re embarrassing yourself. It’s time to bow out. Stop swinging because I’m going to hold you accountable to everything that you’ve said that isn’t true. I will let you off the hook if you walk away.

It's right there.  Hold yourself accountable, ever how difficult that seems to be for you.

It's there for everyone to see, so I fulfilled my obligation.

Please quote where I said that I knew what would happen this year. Add it right here for everyone to see. One of us isn’t telling the truth and it’s not me…

See below.  You just got, got.

The WR room last year wasn’t good enough. It was way better than this group. Now if Coleman is good and Shakir continues to develop they can be an average WR room. At the moment, they’re inarguably in the bottom 3.

Right.  That is the gamble they made by doing the Diggs trade.   The top 3 pass catchers in Qb rating when targeted last season were Shakir, Kincaid and Cook.  Thats who the passing game is going to feature.  May not like it or agree with it, but that is what they are doing imo.

Since Brady took over, 59.4% of Shakir's production came under him vs 34.3% for Gabe.  Gabe didn't play in the playoffs and Shakir was 10/12/75 and 2 TD's.  My belief and eyes told me Shakir started to step up and really start producing when Gabe fell off.  In the 7 games since Brady - Gabe had 5 stinkers with 2 catches / 8 targets and 21 yards and two really nice games of 6 and 4 catches with 105 and 130 yd games.  Shakir had 2 bad games with one no catch contest on 1 target and 1 catch, 1 target and 12 yards.

To me Shakir starting coming on later in the season when Gabe went cold.  That's where I was going with Shakir providing volume when Gabe wasn't.  Gabe had 10 games with 2 or fewer catches and Shakir had 9.  However 6 of Shakir's 9 were in the first 6 games and 7 before Brady took over.

I think it's reasonable to assume Gabe won't be missed too much, from a production perspective.

So now, it's really about coming up with a plan to replace Diggs production.  To me, the signing of Samuel and drafting Keon - we're closer than most believe.  Just my opinion.
