  1. Information on the PS4's DRM system is starting to come out. While initially not as restrictive as the Xbox, it could easily become that way if the game publishers want to (and since MS has said the reason they implemented DRM in the XBox One was because of the publishers.... I expect to see this on the PS4 in short order).

"While technically this means that publishers could implement persistent online checks for their games, it's unlikely they will do so right away."

There is no DRM on the PS4, it's all in the hands of publishers, exactly the same as it is now on the PS3 and XBox 360 (and every console before). And after the recent backlash we've seen, I highly doubt any company will dare try it (well OK, I'm sure EA will at some point lol).

  2. I surprised at how many posters think it's perfectly fine for one of the team leaders and THE leader of the defensive secondary to miss all of the OTAs and minicamp when the team has a new coaching staff and a new fairly complex defense in order to help his negotiating position. I'm concerned that Byrd is going to have a slow start to the season and poor chemistry with his teammates. And if he misses training camp too then I'd add injuries to my list of concerns.

I don't think it's fine, it's definitely not helping. If they don't get a deal done by July 15th and he skips training camp, then I think you will see public sentiment turn against him. K-9 you owe me a video of Byrd getting smoked....

  3. Positive. TD pass against Gilmore vs. Cleveland and again vs. SF. On both, Byrd has deep cover responsibility. I can cut him some slack for the one against SF because he was playing centerfield in a cover-1, was caught cheating towards Rogers' side, and Alex Smith made a good read and throw when he saw that. But the point is, Byrd has been slow in coverage since he entered the league. It's his one fault and he's been beaten because of it.

    GO BILLS!!!

Byrd wasn't even on the field for the Cleveland TD, it was Wilson, Rogers and Gilmore on that side. So.....yeah, your memory needs some refreshing. He has no man assignment in a zone cover-1, so you can't lay the blame squarely on him. He was the best coverage free safety in the league last year. Maybe you've been confusing him with Justin Rogers all these years?

  4. I've had an XBox 360 for over 5 years and I love the thing, but after this last week and watching E3, there's no way on earth I will be supporting this piece of crap. What the heck is Microsoft smoking? DRM, daily connectivity check, no used game market, no indie dev support, a Kinect that monitors you, and it costs $100 more than the PS4? They should call it the Xbox Titanic lol

  5. I could give a crap about his season stats. When you watch the guy play, he's average to good. Not great, and not nearly disruptive enough for my liking. Byrd had a great rookie year. -Fell flat the next. With the exception of a few lucky breaks, he's pretty much worked his way back to the middle.

He can be upgraded....I'd welcome a trade with open arms.

Fell flat the next? He had his best year last year. He didn't allow a single TD in coverage, and as QB's shied away from him (only 21 targets), he still managed to pick off 5 balls and change the outcome of at least 1 game (maybe 2). He's the best coverage free safety in the league, and aside from an aging Ed Reed the best free safety in the league period. If you indeed watched his play last year and considered it average, you either a) don't know the difference between a strong safety and a free safety, or b) need to cut back on your liquor intake during these games. There wasn't a better free safety on the field last year, and I'm not just saying that as some blindly-devoted Bills' homer.

If you want to make the argument that a safety isn't worth $8M+, okay, that discussion has legs. But to say he's average and can be upgraded is laughable.

  6. Now I get most Bills fans are hyper sensitive to anything negative said about the Bills, but I don't care if Byrd played for the Pats, he is AVERAGE and does NOT deserve to be paid what he is looking for. I personally am hoping the Bills can ship him for a 1st rounder to some team stupid enough to go for it.

If by average you mean arguably the top FS in the league and the best FS we have had in the history of our franchise, then yeah, average.

  7. 1980- my first year of caring about Bills football...beating SD week five in the battle of undefeated teams...kinda cool...RIP Chuck....

I remember them getting revenge and beating us in the playoffs 20-14. Fergy played on a busted ankle, and Fouts beat us late in the game with a bomb. I seem to remember Muncie fumbling at some point.

  8. This beach is crazy. I don't care how good she looked once. She is bathouse nuts.

Who's nuts, the woman who takes advantage of advancing medical technology, or the millions of people who go to psychics to get told what they want to hear?

Yeah... listening to doctors is crazy!

  9. Duly noted. We can revisit this in a few weeks, as Byrd probably won't be showing up for OTAs (rightfully so) and eventually the News will run a column pointing this fact out, which should send a large portion of the fanbase into meltdown mode.

  10. Okay let's do it your way. Link 2, Over the Cap site, if I am reading it correctly, the only two people would create more Cap savings than Smith, would be Byrd and Kyle Williams.the next closest would be E. Wood and Chandler. So in order of Cap savings we have, Byrd, K. Williams, Smth, E. Wood and Chandler. No one else is close.

What is wrong with this picture?

Well, if you're trying to say his production over the last 3 years isn't worth what we're paying him, you'll get no argument out of me. The question is, was it his fault or was he used incorrectly? I think it's a combination of both, and I think a new offensive-minded coach like Marrone who wants to feature an up-tempo west coast offense has to be intrigued. Like others in the thread have said, we aren't desperate to create cap space this year.

  11. ultimately, Peters was traded after years of unhappiness about his contract.

Byrd and Peters have the same agent. Both are pro bowl quality players. Both will end up getting contracts that paid them like one of the top 3 at their position in the whole league. Both play for the Bills who will mostly likely (just like Peters situation) will not be willing to pay them top 3 money at their position on the whole league.

...and we hit both with the franchise tag! Right?
