  1. I don't know about that. How did that work out for the Panthers and Norman?

    different animal.

    cats and bisons

Thing I worrie most about is, we give TT $20+.and then Roman leaves. TT might look lost without Roman... IE Kap

worth thinking about, not worrying about though. If TT is worth his salt he will have developed far enough next season to stand on his own, or he is not worth the contract his agent and some others think. imho

No.. Unless TT puts up 5000 yards and 40 TDs I wouldn't be offering $20 mil per

Then its tag him and hope

Unfortunately, it is becoming the average salary with the higher cap. Either way it will be a tough negotiation, I think that is becoming clear.

I think it's more likely he has a similar season or slightly better stats than he has a Manning/Brady type year. It's year two, not year 7. Whoever he signs with he will get what the current market is, not what we think he is worth.

I like him, and hope for the breakout year. I'm just not sure that is the likely scenario. I hope there are less questions about him, but think at the end of the year he will still be a huge question mark. It's unlikely we will know all that we hope to about him.

Lets hope the Coaches know, though.

  2. well then you need to own the Ifedi pick too. :D

    A la Bob Sanders

ooh thats a heck of a comparison

Bill my friend, I attribute it less to what they spent their picks on and more to the quality of players they passed on...they chose to make a move for Losman, and it cost them Aaron Rodgers. They took Donte Whitner when the entire sports-watching world knew there were better players on the board. The biggest problem with their approach to the offensive and defensive backfields up to now has been the inability to keep the valuable guys--I'm hoping that will change.

As to Tyrod, I haven't yet made up my mind, but I'm hopeful. I definitely think that RT needs to be upgraded; I would be hesitant to spend any higher than a 3rd round pick to do it. I don't think RT is a valuable enough position--the league is rife with mid-round picks that perform well. GunnerBill and I have been all over your boy Kyle Murphy from before the Combine...get him in round 3 and we've got ourselves a solid swing OT to play behind Mills and hopefully wrest the starting job away at some point in 2016.

I've wanted another pass rusher going back 2 years--you need them in spades if you want to win (as you know). I think Rex's ability to use them is in question, for sure. He never really had a great pure pass rusher in NJ (save for maybe Wilkerson, but I don't think that's the type of guy we're talking about). I'd love to see them add a guy like Kamalei Correa--a Lawson type that can play the Sam and has solid pass rush tools.

Who do you like at receiver? I'd have no issue with Doctson at 19, but I think there's better value later in guys like Tyler Boyd in round 2, or Robby Anderson of Temple, Malcolm Mitchell of Georgia, or Keyarris Garrett of Tulsa on day 3.

I think this is going to be a very interesting draft, to say the least.

That it will Bandit, that it will

  3.

That is true, I think Roman will open it up more. I just worry about his passing game bc like Dilfer said the footwork doesn't match up with the depth of the route. Hence TT is sitting in the pocket waiting for route to develop instead of throwing on timing. If u watch his system going back to SF even with Alex Smith it was the same...

I do not doubt your more qualified opinion E.

TT did not trust to throw those timing passes, and to me never really settled into a pocket. Much less climbed one to see his receivers.

In the beginning of the season the O line would break down in different ways and the pockets that were left were inconsistent. his first instinct was to run too.

Instead of moving within the tackles. Later on he progressed as the O line developed Some consistency.

Long way to go yet. But i cannot think its is so much a Roman trait. Let Palmer work on him, and as he gains trust in his Recs and the Line to protect him, i would hope he gets his feet sorted and throws those passes that lead his Rec into open space.

Even Sammy he just chucked it to sometimes. Tyrod has a very strong arm but should not rely upon that.

  4.

I hear ya, but if you take a look at the Tyrod Taylor video I did you will see how Roman almost made Taylor look like a one read and run QB. He ran a lot of 3x1 sets, solo side ran a Man coverage beater. If not open TT had to read and throw to zone coverage beaters on the 3 WR side. I am not putting all of the blame on either or. Some of that is on having an inexperienced QB too. Roman spends a great deal of time scheming his runs for Sundays that the passing game suffers. There is only so much practice time. It is fairly common knowledge that Roman's passing schemes and route tree are not that complex.

Keep in mind that Bills were trying to find the QB all preseason with 3 getting reps.

Lets hope Lal opens up the trees and Tyrod can see them develop

  5. The issue most have with Ragland is his coverage skills. Is he a physical presence I between the tackles? No doubt, can he rush the passer? Yes he can. The reason the articles don't mention coverage skills is its highly questionable as a skill set of his and limits his worth. Personally, if he fell into the second round a la Landon Collins last year I wouldn't mind so much making a move up to get him as IMO that is his value in the NFL today, early 2nd/late 1st depending on the team. Aside from playing different positions Collins and Raglands skill sets are relatively speaking the same. His movement skills forward are much better than backwards.

My positive opinion for Ragland does not extend to him being picked at nineteen by the Bills. But in the situation you describe i might be rather pleased. Zach Brown can do that cover crap

  6.

Thanks and you too. Interesting that you bring up Roman which I think is part of the evaluation process. I think the Bills have to make sure that it's not just Roman's system that's making Tyrod successful - and that he's actually developing into an NFL QB. I think the FO has to be conscious that Roman wants to be a head coach and you can't be left with a QB that can't transition to a new OC. Similar to what may have happened to Kaep. There's a lot to think about when determining whether to give out that top 15 QB money.

My hunch is the same as yours - that the Bills and certainly Rex (however long he stays) are Tyrod believers and the contract thing is we're going to wait but we think he'll step up.

You have pointed out another factor to the equation that even I forget sometimes. Roman and his tenure with the Bills.

    Important feature for sure .

little secret, if Rex Ryan's defense goes 8-8 again and the offense improves even slightly , guess who Pegula is talking to Whaley about.

I suspect it will not come to that though. Always gotta have a plan B and C.

On the other side of the coin , maybe Roman has reached his ceiling. haha !

  7. Hmm let me talk you off that ledge. If they take Diche at 19 they are undoubtedly getting one of the most talented players in the draft-not just dline. Motivation and maturity are the inherent risk with him, talent is not. IF he goes "all in" he will be something special and will have an earlier impact than some of these other names being lauded over.

Plenty of guys who will fall into that 15-30 range that would be much more infuriating than an uber talented albeit immature Diche.

There is a quote out from a defensive line coach " I think he'll either drive you crazy or make you look like a genious. Probably not a lot of middle ground is my guess." That about sums it up...his strength and versatility would be a perfect fit. Just need to trust Rex and company to get his production to match his talent. The twins get paid to coach defense if they can't get something out of this kid then we are simply paying the wrong guys.

    I appreciate you thoughtfulness.

But i am rather adamant about this guy.

Hope he comes around, and tears up the NFC.

Do not worry, i will toss something soft at the TV. But toss I will.

  8. This is not dependent on round. Love: Myles Jack. Jonathan Bullard, Kenny Clark, Josh Dotson, Sterling Shepard, Malcolm Mitchell, Graham Glasgow. Really like: Paxton Lynch, Brandon Allen (for a back-up), Kenyan Drake, Tyler Boyd, Keyarris Garrett, Devon Cajuste, Ryan Kelly, Chris Jones, Su'a Cravens, Juston Burris. MEH: Laquon Treadwell, Sheldon Rankins, Vernon Butler, Kevin Dodd,

Don't Like: Cardale Jones, Christian Hackenberg, Will Fuller, Michael Thomas, Germain Ifedi, Le'Raven Clark, Emmanuel Ogbah, Leonard Floyd, and last and most definitely least: Sean Davis

    You have a complicated life : )

  9.

I have to admit to not being a big Hogan guy at the beginning of this process...

I've changed my opinion on him...And it's not just me...I think when you take the time to look at him, and what he's accomplished on the field...It's hard to ignore...When I was watching the RSP Scouting Film on Hogan Matt Waldman pretty much mirrored my initial thoughts on him...Career back-up... But after watching his tape, Waldman came away thinking better of Hogan...And so have I...And I do think he's a guy you can wait a little bit on...

The one thing I've noticed about Hogan is his pocket presence...He's not afraid to step up and take a hit in order to deliver the ball...He does not rattle easily...And I think this is such a key trait in an NFL QB...After you get the accuracy (over 65% in his last 2 years combined) and arm ability checked off (Hogan's arm is passable...Not the best but certainly good enough...) the next most important trait in a NFL QB, IMHO, is the ability to stand tall in the pocket and take the hit in order to deliver the ball...You see so many of these College kids come in looking great...Then they get knocked around a bit and wilt...And then it's over...I think Hogan is a tough-guy QB...He's a winner...He's smart (reported 38 on the Wonderlic), and he's coming out of a Pro system...His arm delivery is a little weird, but it's not a wind-up...he gets rid of it fast enough...And he's definitely athletic enough...

I've gone from wincing at the thought of Hogan to actually hoping the Bills Draft him...That's a long way to come... B-)

Takes a big Man to admit such things.

Well done, even if you are wrong. I have no idea who the QB should be, but Bills should pick one.

Nothing wrong with a change of heart.

  10. They may have told him something different before he came back to the team. No doubt he would have had other offers. Bradford was decent last year and considering RG3 who hasnt played in two years is currently a starter and so is Geno Smith and mark Sanchez, he could have made a pretty penny elsewhere

He is making a pretty penny now ! and he does not need any more money unless he is going on fifty year speedball binge.

Take your millions of dollars and act like an adult.

They've just paid a king's ransom for Carson Wentz. There is no competition. QB of the future starts when they want him to.

Sam is right to want out because he'll be shown the door at some point. Why not try and find a place that'll commit to you long term? He's lost enough time to injury, why should he want to waste more time on the bench if he can start elsewhere?

start long term? he signed a two year with the Eagles before the trade. and how old is he anyways?

I expected he will start next season, and Philly expects he will be injured soon enough

    edit Draft Trade

  11. The main reason is because of their salary cap situation they were very limited in free anency due to money. In the draft they can get a lot more value for a lot less money. There are plenty of positions to fill and/or strengthen and this draft is ideally suited for their wants and needs.

Not only do I expect them to be very active but especially in the 1st rd where a 1st rder gives them a 5th year option on their contract. I would think a QB would come into play because of this. A trade back and/or a trade up into this rd could be quite beneficial for them.

Whaley has shown that he's not intimidated by making bold moves, especially concerning the first round. Anyone who doesn't expect him to get aggressive and creative in this draft is in for a surprise. Thursday night can't come fast enough!

I think Whaley has to play as if he will do nearly anything and leave himself open to wheeling and dealing.

Might wish they trade down in the first, even if it is only one spot to the jets. But the fun bit about Whaley, is it really could go either way !

  12. No we don't know until it happens. But I'd put money on it.

I am forced to think Woods will shine a bit with Tyrod two years in.

Roman has to get TT looking for him and TT has lead him. One thing Robert does is move to the ball in tight windows well.

Do not see it often but it has happened.

19 is too soon for what Roman runs traditionally. But that could change couldn't it ?

  13.

But you have to admit, their latest innovation - a double TE set with a power running game and meaningful investment in their interior line - is pretty freakin' clever, though perhaps obvious. Not only will their new offense better protect Brady in his twilight years, but it's also just enough "against the grain" to cause problems for defenses that are increasingly light and built to stop the pass first.

The continuation of two TE sets is really going to be a B word with that guy they traded for.

Very tough to defend. Lets hope out Zach Browns is studying tape as we speak

  14.

The part you're missing is that a projection is needed now on what the FO foresees Tyrod doing this year in terms of progression. That decision should dictate whether a QB is taken in round 1 or 2 IMO. They can already reasonably assume he'll get 18-20 mil if he has a similar season or tagged - if he plays better statistically he'll get 20-22 mil. The decision on whether he's worth that should also be considered prior to determining if they take a QB. Once that decision is made and I think it already has - I believe we'll know based on the draft results.

    It's interesting indeed.

    Good posting T T.

I too think Bills know where Tyrod can take them.

And he does not have to supersize it to be successful under Roman, just improve and execute in his second year and first year as recognized starter.

    Interesting Draft days Indeed.

What ? OP wants to pay him by the billions. We've already waited too long and are doomed.

    and this is also true.

have no hope and there will be no dreams destroyed
