Safety. Because unless Bishop can win a job in camp it is the weakest unit we will put on the field week 1.

Rapp came on , during back half with smarter play. And has mentioned that being mentored in McDs system by Hyde and Poyer has really given him the understanding and mental tools to play well

Edwards was brought in to replace Hyde ? That was my expectation

Lets hope Bishop can get solid reps early. And i might expect he does. Hamlin can play situational etc Hyde is still a wildcard

I think we are all spoiled by the dynamic duo of Hyde and Poyer being such smart players calling defenses !

Not sure i feel it's the weakest. But it sure is something to watch develop :)

Center, left guard, and the O-line as a whole,

WR and RB groups, (their success relies on the O/line)

The D as a whole, several question marks there.
Also how we adapt to the new kick off rules,

Center and left guard kinda go hand in hand in this case !
Would love to see the Draftee make an impact and move Connor back. That is a win win.

But I expect McGovern will hold it down.

Here's the weird thing for me. How do you move Connor back to left guard midseason gently

WR is the biggest unknown . Who plays and where do they line up ?

Wide Receivers. I believe any one of 4 or 5 could end up being our #1 and a couple of those guys that have the chance to be the #1 also have a chance of not making the squad.

    and crazy to consider !

no offense but I think you are overshooting the talent left off. I think essentially any of those are a breeze to get on the practice squad or ***** an equivalent peer from another squad. There’s no shortage of late rounders or high picks that washed out available around the league

especially if a guy like claypool can be active on special teams

I think that's where he sits. he is going to have to secure a role in teams

Not sure if it is standard practice , but thought any WR listed as 4t and beyond Must play teams. Cuz math

Bills offense will not be predicated on having a 1A and even a 1B in truth. At this point.

    They have 3  2As lol

This will change but it might be a good few games in , or might just be week to week matchups.

Hope Josh can scan both sides of the field on most plays  lol

They had 5 last  year.  6 is questionable.......

    6 is the number

  5. Knox is okay by me.

Would not even consider a trade this year.

He is quite valuable to the Team , regardless of statistical analyzation .

Expecting with a better O line this season (👍) he can get some plays called in  , designed for him. Get him open and let him run.

YAC should be a focal point under Brady. Knox does alright when given a few steps to turn and run :)

Let Kincaid catch the deeper routes

    Go Bills TEs

I think he is here for 2024 and then will be gone personally. If it was just about reducing cap hit an extension was the move to make rather than the restructure. He will turn 30 before the season starts. I dunno if the Bills want to be tied into him long term.

It's a story line to watch.

Perhaps its more , how can they reload that position next offseason ?

let us pray Miller gets back a pass rush threat to be considered each play he is on the field. all we can do right now.

Ha, sorry about that.  It is an interesting scenario only because of his position.  Any other position the answer would be simple, yes we would at least try and extend him if he was coming off multiple good seasons.  But that is the conundrum of RB right now...just has not been a good outcome paying a RB a big contract in the modern NFL.  So be interesting to see what his market is and where that falls in where Beane is comfortable or not comfortable getting to.

Its a good subject for sure !

Saquan Barkley didn't get the big pay day.  Cook won't either, but will try and move imho.

    yea

     But the Giants sucked

It's been a decade since the team that won the Super Bowl had a dynamic, big-contract running back.

The Chiefs are in the midst of a dynasty with guys like CEH and Isiah Pacheco toting the rock.

I just don't think that spending money on an elite, big-money running back is the way that most very good teams are going about things these days. Re-signing Cook to a second contract is certainly not the foregone conclusion that you think it is -- particularly for a team who seems to regularly spend day two and three picks on running backs and who just drafted an RB with a three down skillset a month ago.

If we are still speaking about Cook here

I don't quite agree he will become elite necessarily and will have a rewarding but reasonable next contract if things go my way. Yea I am a fan of Cooks potential.

Looking forward to Davis as well

That a pretty decent backfield on paper

With Ty in the wings :)

Bills might be facing a tough decision heading into 2025 if Cook has another good year this year.  Cook will be on the final year of his deal in 2025...so do you think if he keeps playing at a high level they commit to him with an extension or do you think they avoid having an expensive RB and either try and trade him or just let him walk in FA?

I loathe questions like these. Looking far ahead to find a way to get depressed ?

    LOL

If he plays as well as I think he can , he deserves to hit the market , or at least think that way.

and then it will be what the 2025 market is looking like.

     Drafting Davis will force competition.

But I just won't get bummed out thinking about Cook leaving Us after playing well (assuming , he lives up to my expectation ) just yet 👍

Not really sure what pick the Bills have made that was “embarrassing”. When I think of an embarrassing pick I think of a pick that many thought was bad at the time and turned out to be bad. I can’t think of a high pick that fits that description.

Even some of their more notable busts like Cody Ford, Zay Jones and Boogie Basham all were players projected to go around those selections and in the case of Zay he turned in a good NFL career just not with the Bills. I can’t think of any other big busts, Elam’s early returns are not great but he’s shown he can play here and there.

The Bills are mostly a team in the draft that hit a lot singles and doubles. They don’t hit a ton of home runs but they also don’t “strike out” too often either. Each draft they find a lot of starting caliber players which builds a strong deep roster.

The Bills just need a couple more big time selections here or there.

    Maybin

    shall we continue ?

     Current regime

Elam was a reach and yet to pan out (still hopeful )

This isn’t going to be a popular post but I think the Bills have been a bit all over the place with their offensive philosophy. For years they got beat down when Tom Brady had two TEs. Answer….go get two TEs. But now that philosophy seems to be a distraction in their offense and some challenges in pas protection have forced Knox to stay home and help. Add to that the revolving door at Offensive Coordinator and now we have a highly paid TE as the very title of this thread. I don’t have an answer but I’m guessing time and stability at OC will naturally sort it all out.

Not sure what the philosophy will be this year, to be fair to Brady.

No defined 1A says , spread it around , to me.

and agreed , get Brady his offseason in with the new players on Offenses and it will settle out

At least Bills have lotsa options tp pitch the ball at now :)

Besides the dude has actually made plays in some limited time... Has picked off Patrick mahomes twice

Mckelvin took years to turn into a solid corner... But once the light clicked he became very steady

Elam is on the same trajectory and will probably give us a few good seasons... People act like him being injured can't affect a corner

This is the reason why you draft corners every year... So you can have four guys you can play

He certainly is not a lost cause

New Coach changed our Leodis McKelvin. Asked him to be the receiver and play the ball a such

    Major turnaround for him

    Now

Go beat that ass Elam !

I'd prefer he was used as Beasley was in 2020. That's about 80 receptions for almost 1000 yards. The perfect chain mover underneath. That would mean his target volume would jump quite a bit but his YPC would drop running more underneath routes.

Yes he can play outside but there are others than can play outside.

I have a tendency to want to emulate Tom Brady and Pats offense. That means a great TE Gronk (Kincaid and Knox in the aggregate) and a weapon in the slot - Edelman and Welker (Shakir).  With Bills run game and a couple outside threats, this offense should be able to run so many different formations and plays with the same personel. Should keep defenses guessing.

You said patriots , but i kept reading anyways

     but i bolded why i responded :)

    so please expand text ^

Brady has said he wants to take advantage of each players individual skill sets within this offense. Couple that with the uptick in production we saw out of Shakir at the end of last season once Brady took over, and one could assume he’s primed to be a focal point in this offense (albeit not to the level that Diggs was). So what say you. How would you get the most out of Shakir’s skill set within this offense? (There are no wrong answers and I’ll give my opinions later as not to influence the responses).

    Knowing already I sound goofy

Depends on what they see from the new guys. yes I am hedging my bets here !
But Shakir might be all over the place honestly

as mentioned he has great sight lines for YAC

that will only improve with Josh leading him with those crossers and inside outs

I think he is.  If he weren't, he wouldn't have taken a pay cut that included giving back some of his guaranteed money and was heavily loaded with incentives.

That, to me, says a player who still believes in himself and believes he can get it done, and wants to give it a try.

Agreed and should be noted by anyone who doubts he has a few things to prove.

Motivated ? I sincerely think so

Able ? no idea. But he IS/Was and Elite athlete of rare skills and ability.

mCbeane should not have made that deal though. full stop.

Was not happy and still not

     But

I remain hopeful he would still contribute , on and off the Field for the Bills (mentoring the youth ) (not GM bs)

He was damn clear "everyone is gonna eat" and "no one is bigger than the offense".  Fans can say what they want,  but that's a clear message to anyone wanting to play offense here. ( yes if feel that was addressing Diggs)

It's #17's show and that's it, that is all.

Hr said he doesn't want to think.  The offense will continue to evolve, but initially it's a KISS method.

I am fine with that mantra.

    Play fast.

Eye work should become muscle memory when scanning

Hoping Connor can set some nice protections 😉
    Or that Kid.

    Let's play guess this WR......

    From his pre-draft analysis.

    POSITIVES

—Long, tall WR with very good size.

—True weapon in the red zone. Will use his size and length to high-point throws and flashes the ability to win contested catches.

—Good hands with good catching range. Will consistently use his length and size.

—Best on vertical routes where he can get to top speed and threaten a defender's cushion.

—Flashes good strength and willingness to use size. Is able to box out CBs completely away from the ball on in-breaking routes.

    NEGATIVES

—Play speed slower than timed speed. Gets stuck in fourth gear and can't completely open up.

—Limited after the catch. Big and lacks the twitch to make defenders miss in tight spaces.

—Overall a slow-twitch player who requires build-up to get to top speed due to size and long legs. Not a sharp breaker on routes and that will allow defenders to undercut throws at the next level.

—Does not consistently utilize his size when blocking. More of a shield blocker than someone who imposes their will. This lack of consistent fight also can crop up on 50/50 throws.

Hint.... He is being discussed in another thread.....

     Pasted from above
