  1. Given the volatile situation at One Bills Drive, what level of confidence do you have in validity of something that a "high-ranking Bills source" tells Carruci, Schefter, or any other NFL or Bills beat reporter about the head coach search? Is it possible that these "high-ranking sources" the same people who were bad-mouthing Polian last week? If the building is full of people trying to protect their turf, what credence do you give to any of these reports?

  2. Why would Tom Brady in his right mind want to come to Buffalo? Not for the money ..... He and his wife have more cash than most small countries. Not for the Super Bowl rings... He already has those. If he wants to continue playing somewhere other than New England, there are a lot more "exotic" locations and teams where he can do that. Unfortunately, be it right or wrong, the rest of the world outside of Erie County views our Bills as dysfunctional and our location to be the US version of Siberia.

    You know them all? Dude.

  3. As someone who moved away from Buffalo almost two decades ago, I have to ask: is the entire city one steaming pile of crap? Does anyone in Buffalo do their job competently or have the ability to think critically? I am 100% convinced that OBD is a mess, a complete, total, dysfunctional joke. Yet so are the local news organizations covering it. WGR and the Buffalo News, in particular and from what I read on this site (and through the links on the home page), appear to be third-rate (at best) media outlets populated by bitter hacks and morons. And yet they seem to cater to a large percentage of the fanbase. I can only imagine what the radio talk shows are like - stupid, bitter fans call into stoke the flames of these mouth-breathing pundits. It just seems like one big giant cesspool of mediocrity and rage. Everything is a zombie apocalypse.

    Am I offbase?

    Dear Coach Marrone,

You grabbed your $4M and you badmouthed OBD on the way out. You were intent on doing damage, but it's minimal. Seriously--trolling on a Bills fan site? Let it go, big guy. Leave Buffalo alone.

    Signed,

    Lots of people

  4. We have a GM interviewing prospective coaching candidates. The list looks pretty good. After we hire a coach we have Free Agency and the draft, including possible trades to improve the offense. Where is the chaos?

This consultant thing is ridiculous and getting out of hand. We have a GM. Let him do his job.

I'm sure the owners would have preferred an uneventful transition. Good for then for calling the HC's bluff. As for the blood in the water, it's Sullivan's. That hack would cut open his own arm in a shatk tank for a story. Things are.a bit chaotic, but it's certainly not the end of the world.

  5. Sanest reply that I've seen on this board in a few days. I don't care what business you're in--when new ownership steps in after a long-term owner leaves, there's always a transition period. People who feel threatened leave, and the ones who are over-entrenched start throwing haymakers to protect their "turf."

That's what's happening now. Graham and others are being fed a steady diet of information that makes the Bills organization appear to be in turmoil. Maybe the "sources" are thinking that the Pegulas are going to go with the status quo seeing that they need a new HC, OC, potentially a DC, and a QB.

Their time, like Whaley's, will come. Every new ownership group (regardless of the industry) picks a trustworthy guy from the old regime to help with the transition. When the transition is complete, he's either proven himself loyal or he's gone. The unseen entrenched are toast. They're getting their shots in now, but either Whaley or a new GM will clean house.

Various posters have suggested that the Pegulas have a strategy and we should just remain calm. They're right.

  6. Promo: I wasn't clear. I've loved this team for 48 years. I don't have B word points, and I'm not moving the goalposts (great analogy, btw). Just want a championship. Till then, every offseason is full of potential, and every next season will be better. My intent (failed) was to take a good-natured swipe at the legions who treat the wildcard spot like Mecca.

  7. The way fans are carrying on, it feels like there'd be a parade if we snuck into a wildcard spot.

    Screw that.

Here's the real clock: 21 seasons since a Super Bowl, and 49 seasons since a league championship.

I'll be as thrilled as the next fan when we go to the post-season, but f*** settling for the crumbs that the Pats* and others leave.

No more "Fifteen seasons" for this guy. 21 and 49 are the numbers. GO BILLS!!!!

  8. At 530, the dog has already peed in the hotel room, the wife is pissed at me for snoring, and I just saw that SD beat SF in OT. Oh...did I mention that we're heading to the in laws--and he's a huge Pats* fan? Other than six more hours of driving, I figure this day can't get any worse. Bills, Steelers, and whoever the F else needs to win, win.

Postscript: The Jim Beam is buried under 50 metric tons of gifts in the car. Contemplating...

  9. If a head coach is secure in his job and the team is winning consistently with O and D, I can see him falling on his sword for his OC. I think Marrone is probably pretty secure, so I have these questions about Marrone's deflecting the heat away from Hackett:

    1. Is this just coachspeak, like his weekly "We've got to get better" statement?

    2. Is Hackett going to be part of the package, i.e. Marrone stays = Hackett stays?

    3. Is it a stall tactic because Marrone is not certain what Terkimula will want for changes?

    4. This is overthinking, but does Marrone need to appear to be supportive of his OC to make the hiring of a new OC a bit smoother? (You wouldn't want to to work for a HC who throws his OC under the bus, right?)

Okay, TBD, break this down for me. I know football is a team game, takes 11 guys, it's all in the execution, blah blah blah. What is going on here?

    EDIT: GO BILLS!!!

  10. A quote from Craig Urbik in an article (link) in today's News. The article focuses on the problems the Bills O line with a nod to Henderson who, according to Vic Carruci, is the best player on the O-line this year.

Urbik's quote continues "...If the offense doesn’t do well, then the O-line gets all the blame. If the offense does well, then the playmakers get all the credit. We understand what it is, we let it brush off our shoulders, and every week we just try to get better."

O lines have been saying this forever, However, considering the struggles with the running game and pass protection this year, it seems appropriate for the O line to take a healthy dose of the blame.

Urbik's comment really rubbed me the wrong way. I don't think the O-line or anyone else has played well enough to be talking about "the playmakers getting all the credit" (unless you're talking about Dan Carpenter) but maybe the TBD Football Gods can set me onto the path of Truth and Righteousness. Or is this just one of the canned responses they are taught to say to deflect questions.

I am psyched about the 8-6 record and even having a slim chance of getting to the playoffs. GO BILLS!!!
