  1. Here's the schedule:

    Home

    New York Jets

    Miami Dolphins

    New England Patriots

    Jacksonville Jaguars

    Cleveland Browns

    Pittsburgh Steelers

    Chicago Bears

    Detroit Lions

    Away

    New York Jets

    Miami Dolphins

    New England Patriots

    Kansas City Chiefs

    Cincinnati Bengals

    Minnesota Vikings

    Baltimore Ravens

    Green Bay Packers

I see us 2 & 4 in the division (swept by Jets who are the class of it, split with Pats ... I think Gailey has enough moxy to sneak one in here, and split Dolphins again.)

Of the remaining home games go 2 & 3 (beat Jags and Browns, lose to Bears, Stillers and an improving Lions team.)

Of the remaining away games go 1 and 4 (beat Chefs, lose to Bengals, Vikes, Ravens and Packers.) That's a brutal away schedule and I just don't see us surviving.

    That's a total of 5 up, 11 down again ... ugh.

I know it's way too early for this, but I figure why let expectations get too high in the off season?

Whole schedule is brutal. NFC is bad luck of the draw, but for sucking so bad how did we get Ravens, Bengals and Steelers? Jags are no push over and Browns own us. Hardest schedule I've seen in years. Mercifully we have Chiefs to hedge against winless season.

  2. Bullock is over the hill and showing extreme signs of wear.

Forfeited her chance years ago at eternal Goddess stature by not showing skin and now she's pushing menopause.

Really, why does everyone think of Phoebe Cates as eternally hot? She was WISE enough to show skin in her prime.

Bullock, that pinhead Julia Roberts, Michelle Pfeiffer and others have no room to complain. THEY HAD THEIR CHANCE

  3. could pull trigger on one at the right tomorrow

    http://www.prsguitars.com/tedmccarty245/index.html

being offered what i think is a good deal

i will test it against a standard McCarty

this one has a shorter scale neck by 1/2", so i need to see how it differs. i think its 1/4" shorter than a Les Paul neck, and the same as the PRS Santana model. and maybe since i have smallish hands it will be better.

obviously WAY OUT of my initial price range BUT i look at it as an investment. and when you find "The One" it just sings and significantly elevates your playing, imo

    Soooo .... ?

  4. Actually, with no 3-point line at the time, the game was played almost exclusively closer to the basket, making a dominant defensive center like Russell all the more valuable. He was also arguably the best playoff performer in NBA history. Was Chamberlain more talented offensively? Without question. Did he have half the balls or will to win as Bill Russell? Not a chance.

The best defender of the Jordan era was Dennis Rodman.

Certainly a valuable and well compensated player. But no where near the compensation of the best offensive players at the time like Jordan, Iverson and Malone.

As far as 3 point line, agree its added some scoring to the game, and taken away some of the value of be strong under the boards. But we're really only talking degrees of difference ... the game may have gone from teams averaging 80-something points per game to 90-something, but either way that's still a huge emphasis on scoring compared to other sports.

  5. How about Bill Russell?

11 championships. Just think about that for a second. 11.

Plus, the greatest defensive player to ever live. When most people talk greatest ever, they only think of offense (which Russell had by the bushel) but 50% of the game is preventing the other team from scoring.

When a game is so heavily oriented to scoring, the offensive star is more valuable than a defensive one.

Russell great record for sure ... but he fit into a system.

MJ in his prime would have made any team a contender due to his offensive talent.

  6. The article was about child stars that fall into lives of torment. Those three don't qualify, IMO.

well you bolded 4 and said 3 dont qualify.

    taken 1 at a time:

Hall: i really dont know what happened to himl, so maybe he doesnt qualify. and hes so unimportant im not going to bother looking him up on wikipedia

Lowe: caught making a sex tape with under aged girls, before sex tapes were in vogue. ok so he came back and got a tv show gig, he's still a loser and the sex tape seriously damaged his career ... remember he was most popular brat packer at the time, Cruise included

Crispin: although technically he may not have disappeared, his performance on Letterman relegated him to perma-loser status in my book

Coleman: I don't see how being arrested for domestic abuse doesn't qualify as "fallen." you disagree?

  7. Here's a demo the PRS McCarty starting around 5:00. That's not the wood I would get, but this is as close to the sound Ive found that I like. Sweet!! Even this guy who demo's hundreds of guitars seemed to get fairly intoxicated with this one.

here's a guy doing a cover of Sweet Child of Mine with an older one. pretty sweet too:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcY0NLgKlYI

I guess they made some pickuo change in 08. And of course theres a raging Internet forum debate which ones better. So id have to research that further too. I think the gist is the pre-08s have a more mid range compressed sound, and 08's have a brighter paf sound.

You can sort of hear that in the examples you posted. Different amps and different players, but the 1st link sounds more raw Les Paul like. 2nd one more like Boston's sound, which was a compressed Les Paul.

  8. Fallen category:

Leif Garrett - we get it you're "unique" and all, but quit being a douche.

Willie Ames - prior to being born again, this guy was possibly the angriest former child actor ever

Dustin Diamon - the complete "look at me" guy, he picked up the torch carried by Willie Ames

MacKenzie Phillips - ugh where to begin with her the complete "look at me" woman.

Lindsay Lohan - nah nevermind, too easy

Not quite fallen, but definitely teetering:

The Olsen sisters - wierd freakin Leemurs, what are you two staring at anyway? Eat a pork chop or something.

Kirk Cameron - sooner or later this guy is going to either go Ted Haggard or Jim Jones on us.

Hey WR, what did I miss about Anthony Michael Hall? I think he's transitioned to adulthood pretty smoothly.

BTW, Barry Bonds thinks Todd Bridges has a pretty large nugget.

Oh yeah Cameron, what a dork. He should resurrect the "Bibleman" character with Willie Aames. btw, Cameron married a hottie from Buffalo, what the heck was she thinking?

  9. Why is Drew Barrymore on the list? She's been in several box office winners as an adult and remains a major hollywood attraction.

And why are Anthony Michael Hall, Rob Lowe, Crispin Glover and Gary Coleman not on the list?

For me, I'd go with Olsen twins; annoying x 2. Can you imagine having to take a long car ride with those whiney elfs?

  10. What about this Jackson guitar?

    http://www.jacksonguitars.com/products/pro...duct=2910515316

Seems to have pretty much everything I'm looking for ... although I'm not sold on the body shape yet.

What do you all think of Jackson guitars? Where would this one be made?

Seems like you're stuck on a Les Paul setup. Instead of substitutes, just try and find a deal on one. There's a reason they're famous. Even if you don't like it in a year you can sell it for not much more than you paid (or wait 20 years and it will be worth 3x as much!)

  11. Nice call, definitely have to check it out. I understand PRS is right up with Gibson and Fender in quality.

I wonder why that one so inexpensive? Seems to have it all.

Only that might not work for me is the neck description of "Neck Shape: Wide Fat", given my smallish hands.

But definitely worthy of further exploration.

    Made in Korea

  12. When you say something like ....

"As for your preference for the commercial sound, I understand that. Most people find it easier to listen to hooks and a packaged approach to sound. It helps explain why pop music (like Britney Spears and Lady Gaga) is more popular than jazz and classical music."

    ... you're obviously being dismissive.

And I never said I have a general preference for the commercial sound (whatever that is). I said I prefer Schon's later work with Journey to the earlier dullish fusion stuff.
