  1. Dear lord.

This doesn't have to turn into a major free speech issue. In fact it's not. No ones banning the name. It should be a common sense and courtesy one.

But it is about free speech, the DC Mayor said you want a new Stadium in DC, Change the team name, should be about common sense & courtesy "Yes" but this is a ultimatum

This thread was started by the OP as an FYI that those over the hill morons in DC were finally, thankfully hanging up their dresses. It has officially, sadly devolved into a PPP thread.

I suppose you prefer thread on how Rex Ryan is a D-Bag or another Tebow thread, at least we are talking intelligently

  2. "Circling the wagons" isn't offensive anymore than the word "blitz". Where to draw the line is really pretty obvious, isn't it?

Implying that society will devolve into some form of martial law due to a "slippery slope" is an overreaction.

it isn't obvious, take banning books from schools, it starts off with mein kampf & can end with Spongebob big adventure' its just how far do you want to go

  3. Take the Sologne "Circle The Wagons" its credited to Western Pioneers circling their wagons together to fight off attacking Indians, so shouldn't the Bills stop using it

And I am not shouting down anyone, I am are just point out facts & so are others, nobody has to agree with each other but it be cool if we could be civil about it, I see other opinion, all I am saying "Where does it end"

  4. What about these teams

    South Carolina Gamecocks

    Kansas City Chiefs

    Atlanta Braves

    Cleveland Indians

    Notre Dame Fighting Irish

    Chicago Blackhawks

    Utah Utes

    San Diego st Aztecs

    Florida st Seminoles

    Illinois Fighting Illini

Now here is your slippery Slope

    Pirates/Buccaneers/Raiders/Vikings - Promotes rape, plundering & pillaging

    Cardinals/Saints - Promotes Catholicism

    Devils - Occult

    Reds - Communists

    Hurricanes / Lightning / Thunder / Avalanche - Disasters

    Dogs/Browns - Dog Fighting

    Football Terms - Shotgun/Pistol/Blitz/ Spread/Go Deep/Hail Mary - Weapons/war, Sex, Religion

  5. Now we're getting nasty but I'll bite.

You really think hordes of people are offended by the term redskin? In this age when everything is dictated by political correctness, when people are routinely fired for saying ill-advised but harmless off-color jokes, when (read the examples above)? We'd have people boycotting, screaming, marching. It's manufactured.

Exactly nobody is protesting & If the PC Police are upset over a team name why not giving Indians back their land, is changing a name going to make up for over 500 years of crimes against Indians

  6. Usually I am on board with throwing out PC rules, but this situation is different. Redskins is basically the equivalent to calling them the DC "darkies" or worse. What's the harm in changing it to the warriors? It goes against the principle of being a racist? The principle of pissing off people you can get away with crapping on? The principle of never changing anything because you are too stuck in your ways?

One Thing, this is never an Issue until the Redskins are winning, the last time this was brought up was in 1991/1992 during the Super Bowl (Skins vs Bills)

People only become political correctness when something is at a high profile, if the Redskins start losing people will just forget like they have for over 20 years

  7. Its ironic that a growing number of people in the are want the NBA team to change thier name back to the bullets then, and having moved to Maryland and being half an hour from Baltimore and 20 minutes from DC I can assure you no one in this area gives a :censored: about the name of the football team

The Bullets Owner change the name when his friend Yitzhak Rabin The Israeli Leader was murder,

  8. It's pretty awful that you prefer some stupid pointless tradition over changing the obviously offensive nickname.

What slippery slope are you afraid of? That all of the offensive nicknames would be changed? What a disaster that would be!

The slippery slope you should be afraid of is what Just in Atlanta said; that's how it starts first it is an offensive term then its anything that offends anybody

I not say the Redskins Name is right but changing it because of Political correctness is dangerous

  9. Oh good another Patriots paid off the the NFL thread. WHEN WILL YOU PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THE BILLS SUCK AND IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PATRIOTS?

We are talking about Patriots Cheating Every Team not just the Bills, take the Saints the NFL basically wreck that team over Bounties something that's been going for decades in the NFL but the Patriots cheat & lose a #1 draft pick (they had two #1 & the NFL took the lowest one) & Belichick gets fine

Then the NFL destroys the evidence so nobody can't see what they did sure they released a report (written by them) & a 15 Minute Video of footage out of the hundreds of tapes but that's not suspicious, I am downing you Jim but something sounds funny here

  10. The problem, at least as I see it, is that there are only very shaky QBs in this draft with each being a long-shot to develop into a good starting QB. I'd rather have Alex Smith for a few years, take a flyer on a rookie to see if we get lucky and (assuming we don't) then go all-in next year to get a better rookie prospect. Alex Smith isn't Tom Brady, but he could be a winner with a great D and running game - exactly what the Bills are trying to build (and they have a lot of the parts).

I see your point but do you really want another game manger, I frankly don't & next years isn't much better other than Aaron Murray & Johnny Manziel & that means another losing season I rather take a chance on a Rookie Gunslinger like Tyler Wilson than just the same thing we have now

  11. don't forget about the packers :flirt:

Yes I am sure if you " Pack Cheese" for a living you might be offended by that name & "Cheese Head" could also be offensive

Yes "Redskin" was once used as a derogatory term but this is what I mean, first it will be offensive terms, then next it will be any & everything

we already live in a PC dominated society, where now compliments are saw as bad taste, how far do want to got down that road till you can't turn back

  12. In the past, Dennis Rodman was a regular.

    Classic

I've always thought that name was a horrible embarrassment.

Here is my problem with the name change, where does it stop? shouldn't you change the Kansas City,Florida St, San Diego St, Illinois too & Notre Dame name, Fighting Irish is offensives & what about Redman Tobacco? what else can we find that offends someone

I understand your feeling about the name but it starts a slippery slope you might not want to go down
