  1. Is Fitz perfect? No. Is he a great QB? No. Is he a pretty good QB who gives us a chance to win? Yes.

In his first game of 2010, AT New England, he put us in a position to tie in the final minutes.

AT Baltimore, he put on a show and had us in position to win. The D surrendered the win in OT.

AT Kansas City, he took us to OT against the Chiefs. The D surrendered the win in OT.

Against Chicago, we were tied in the final minutes. The D surrendered a game-ending field goal.

He led us to victory against the Lions.

He led an epic come-from-behind thumping of the Bengals in Cincy.

He took us to OT against the Super Bowl Steelers and had a perfectly thrown ball to Stevie in OT to win it...dropped.

He got wins over Cleveland and Miami.

Yes, I'm cherry-picking stats. Yes, our 4 wins came against mediocre teams. But our close losses came against playoff teams.

Wins are what matters, which is why I'm not giving him credit for being a champion. But there were A LOT of units that let this team down, and in a majority of the cases, it wasn't our quarterback.

We need a star QB, but Andy Dalton and Ryan Mallett aren't stars. We have enough "average," thank you.

Who cares what Fitz's stats are, Just win the damn game..! With a better D we would have won 4 or 5 more games last year..I think Fitz deserves another year before we go saying we can't take a team deep into the playoffs...There will be deeper QB's in next years draft...

  2. Guys we need players that are going to start next year and make an impact..We got the best DL in the draft at #3, were now sitting at #34 with a chance to get the best ILB in the draft with Martez Wilson, round 3 we have a good chance to get the second best TE in the draft with Stocker, allthough I dont see him falling to round 3, but its wishfull thinking

  3. If you are satisfied with that then I am glad you are not the GM.

I didn't say I was satisfied with that, I said dont take a QB or DL in round 2..I said I would take that any day over what we have. But actually I would be happy with it..You cant draft 11 guys in the first round, unfortunately that's pretty much what we need ( Minus Kyle ).. well 10 now that we picked Dareous.. I'm just saying there is alot of defensive talent still on the board so dont draft a QB that is going to be a back up, or a DL to rotate in a few plays a game, get someone who is going to be on the field every play, that is value at #34 and that guy is Martez Wilson. Thats my opinion and i know others will agree and others will dis agree..

  4. All this talk about getting a Back-up QB or another DL is a waist at #34 with so much talent left there..We need guys who can come in and start on day one and help this club, not a QB who will sit the bench, this is why we never make the playoffs, we draft guys who either sit the bench or quit, or are a bust..We got our guy on DL with the 3rd pick, now get Martez Wilson ILB..! Round 3 get Luke Stocker TE or if there is still another good OLB there with value get him. All 3 of those guys would start one day one..! but for Christ sakes stop drafting back-ups..!

    Williams

    Troupe

    Dareous

    Merriman

    Poz

    Wilson

    Moats

I'll take that front seven any day..!

  5. Our offense DID suck. We had the second worst offense in the NFL. So many people want to make Fitz sound like he played like a superstar. He didn't. We still did not score often enough. Still too many turnovers and not enough sustained drives. Teams ran against us because they had the lead.

I am not saying the defense was great, but you cannot bury your head in the sand and think that all they need to do is draft a few defensive players and the problems are solved.

Also, we drafted Troup and Carrington last year, we have Dwan Edwards, Merriman and Andra Davis (Danny Batten too) coming back from injury and Moats ready to play more. I think some attention needs to be paid to Offense. We need a franchise QB, OT and TE.

The Bills braintrust has made it no secret that their top priority is bolstering the front-seven of a defense that was undone by injuries and had difficulty making the switch to a 3-4 scheme. Buffalo allowed 200 yards rushing eight times last year, and 2,714 overall—the second-highest total in team history. The 425 points allowed was also second worst.

To make matters worse, the Bills were unable to generate a consistent pass rush, failing to fill the loss of Aaron Schobel(notes), who was cut in August after Buffalo couldn’t wait any longer for the veteran player to decide on whether to retire.

Even though the Defense was this bad we were in all but two games to the end thanks to the offense...However I will agree with you and agree with myself, therefore we should make the offense and defense better..They all suck..! Why are we even arguing who sucks more..? The entire team sucks..!

  6. If the offense was better at scoring points and staying on the field, the opposition would not be able to simply line up and smash the ball at our defense for the entire game trying to burn clock. Our Run defense numbers are poor in part because the offense sucks.

What..! I hope your joking...Even if our offense sucked, if the defense stops the run and commits 3 and outs more often then the offense ( No matter how bad ) would be on the field longer...They smash the ball at us because they know they can..!

  7. Rich's mock draft is plugging along nicely. The Bills are on the clock for their round 2 pick at #34, so go ahead and vote for your selection. Most votes gets selected. If someone isn't on the list, use the thread to vote for them. This thread and voting will remain open until monday morning, April 18th.

Here's a link to the players already selected:

    Round 1: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/128890-2011-mock-draft-round-1/

    Round 2: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/128892-2011-mock-draft-round-2/

In Round 1 at #3 overall, Buffalo selected DL Marcel Dareus, Alabama.

So we get Dareus in round 1 who is the best DL player, Wilson in round two who is the best ILB in the draft and our defense looks like this.

    DL - Kyle Williams

    NT - Troup

    DL - Dareus

    OLB- Moats

    OLB - Lights out

    ILB - Poz

    ILB - Wilson

    CB-Mckelvin

    CB- McGee

    SS - Whitner

    FS-Byrd

    Not bad at all..!

  8. 1) - fairley ( DE )

2)- Martez Wilson (ILB) - We can get the best ILB in the draft..!

    3)- Stocker

    4)- RT

    4)- OLB

    5)- DE

    6)- CB

    7)- OC

    2011 Bills 3/4

    DE - Kyle Williams

    DT - Troupe

    DE - Fairley

    OLB - Merriman

    ILB - Wilson

    ILB - POZ

    OLB - Moats

    CB - Mcgee

    CB - McKelvin

    SS - Whitner / Wilson

    FS - Byrd

  9. Hey as a 7th round pick or an Un-Drafted free Agent I wouldn't mind taking a look at him.. Remember Kyle williams was a 5th round pick none even heard of, it was his high motor and work ethics that got him to where he is today, him and kyle would be pretty mean on the line..

  10. Just read Buddy's comments in the paper and follow up article on Buf. Rumblings. My impression of his thoughts are he is OK with the O'line. I certanly agree with him on D. Bell. I thought he was at very least a competent tackle, especially in the pass game. Hangartner got a luke warm response. He liked our youth. We do have a young O'line.

I personally think the line could use a solid tackle. Be it right or left. I think Bell can transition to the Right side easilly and thrive there. Picking up a tackle with the 1st pick of Rd 2 would do wonders for this team.

In contrast Buddy's comments about the linebackers on this team were not so flattering. He knows he has very little talent there. Moats has got a shot. Poz can play in a limited zone capacity. And then a bag of hockey pucks.

I agree with your comments on the O'line and if you read into it it seems like Hangatner is out and we need a RT...

  11. I don't at all like the Bills tipping their hand at who or what they'll be drafting. Do the Steelers, Patriots or Packers do this sort of thing????????

Shut up your pie hole already. I'm sure the three clubs I mentioned above will be considering those comments right before the Bills pick in the second round and third round and on and on and on...

If you actually read the whole article you'll see that he is not tipping his hand..He was asked about Newton and he stated they have 2 months to review players..He did state we will draft the most impact player available, regardless of need with the 3rd pick," That impact guy "...That to me does not seem as if he is tipping his hand.. Also maybe he wants to bait a team into thinking he is going to take Newton, maybe he has some inside info that a team behind us wants newton, and maybe he wants them to think were going to take him to develop trade talk.. ya just never know unless your name is Nix...

  12. What is lame is that he can't just come take it over. That he has to deal w/ Edwards and his staff. If he wants to that's fine...but those people IMO should be working with him (should he come to buffalo) not the other way around. Basically I'm saying...if Wanny wants to come he should be the man. Plain and simple. Anything else is lame. What he'll be subordinate to some 1 year DC that had the worst Buffalo D of my life? That literally looked nonsensical at times? Hogwash.

Here's what I figure is going down..Gaily don't wanna admit he made a mistake w/ Edwards as DC, but at the same time he want's to win. They fire the LB coach to make room for a new hire.. They want to bring in Wanny to be DC/Assistant HC, place Edwards to Linebackers coach / assistant DC, and tell everyone that Wanny is the new DC and that Edwards will be "learning" under Wanny. Same thing our Offensive Corr. does under gaily.

  13. If I'm reading the info correctly Fitz's pass attempts were prorated to the 16 games as well. The number of attempts are what the number of attempts are. Guys like Manning and Brees are going to have more attempts because they're more prolific players and therefore are in more prolific offenses. A QB at a lower talent level such as Fitz cannot run the type of offense those two do. Not to say Fitz's stats weren't better than expected this season or that the prorated stats aren't impressive, but I will say Fitz is not capable of putting up 4000 yards passing, winning NFL MVP or perhaps even leading his team to a Super Bowl like those two.

Totally not true..! Remember these other QB's have been in the same system for year, Hell Payton has a Paten Pending label on his play book..! Give FitZ another year under the same coach in the same system and I'm sure you will see improvement..To say he is incapable of leading a team to a Super bowl or throwing for 4000 yards is something I have to strongly dis agree with..

I decided to compare Fitz's stats to the big three for 2011, just to see...

Yes, I'm on a pro-Fitz kick, but no I'm not saying he is as good as these guys (or ever will be), just wanted to see how the stats compared.

Fitz obviously only played 13 games, so I averaged his numbers out to 16 games and I included rushing yards since that is

part of his game as well.

    ...................................................FITZ.................................Manning...........................Brees............................Brady

    Games....................................16 (prorated)............................16...................................16.................................16

    Pass Attempts...............................542...................................679.................................658...............................492

    Pass Completions..........................313...................................450.................................448...............................324

    Completion Percentage.................57.8%...............................66.3%...............................68.1%...........................65.9%

    Comp for 1st Downs.....................186....................................253.................................236..............................189

    Rushing Yards...............................331......................................1...................................-2.................................30

If Fitz had the same number of attempts as Manning (with these numbers) he would have had 4,623 yds to Peyton's 4,700

(77 yards less or 5 yards less per game) and he would have had 35 TDs to Peyton's 33; INTs would go up however to 22 for Fitz

compared to 17 for Peyton...I know that's all speculative, but its interesting nonetheless.

Fitz's yards per attempt were similar to Manning and Brees and he had more total yards than Brady on the season (including rushing).

The only major disparity is in completion percentage (8-10%) and TD/INT ratio versus Brady.

Granted the big three didn't have career years this season (except for Brady's TD/INT%), but they also all had better offensive lines, more proven

skill players, and have been in their offensive system for multiple years. Fitz's stats look pretty good to me for a guy with a lot less playing

time and in his first year in a new system. If he can improve his completion % with a better O-line and more experience then we have a pretty

good QB (I know a lot of you think he can't improve his accuracy, but I'm not so sure...not having to run for your life helps a lot).

Not every team can have an elite QB; at any given time there are probably only 3-5 teams of 32 that have an elite QB. So, I'm happy we at least have

Fitz and not another Trent Edwards, J.P., etc. I think Fitz can win in this league with the right pieces around him.

    What say you?

    Go Bills!

Very nice work, and thanks for taking the time to do this..! The only thing that bothers me is the completion percentage, obviously Fitz needs work on his accuracy, and then I'm sure the INT's will go down also..

We have to keep in mind also that these other QB's have been in the same system for years, Fitz's wasn't even the starter until week 3 this year, give him a full training camp, a good RT and a great Defense and I bet he can take a team to the Super Bowl.>! Somone below said FitZ was incapable of running an offense like Payton, I say in a year or two FitZ will be running that style of offense, cause thats what Gaily wants to get to at some point...

    Then leave!

    :thumbsup::worthy:

  14. Round 1 - Trade down, acquire another 3rd

    Round 4 - SS

    Round 4 - DL

In free agency get a good TE and Tackle, and a vetern QB to back up FitZ.

Relaese Stroud, Brohm,Whitner ( only cause he will want too much $$ )Ellison,Youboty, and a few others.

  16. First, Hi to everyone here..... I have years in this forum only as a reader, but now that this team is finally working together as a team, and of course finally looking like a good team..... I´ll make some offseason moves......

In free agency, there are to many free agents, that i want for my team, but i will keep this realistic.... The weakness for this team is obviously the LB, RT and TE.

First i´ll resign parrish, florence, poz, whitner and wilson, inmediatly..... We cant make more holes on this team.

In free agency, i´ll go for ofense first, there are some OT like JARED GAITHER (depends on his injury), DONALD PENN maybe too expensive, MATT LIGHT (i like this veteran and his leadership) TO NAME A FEW THAT WILL BECOME FREE AGENTS, so i´ll go with light or gaither here personally take gaither and offer RT money and we will have another starter on this ofensive line.

Then i´ll go with TE, there are many of names out there.... names like Vernon Davis SF (too expensive for the CHEAP sorry Chief Wilson), Zach Miller RAI, Owen Daniels HOU, Kevin Boss NYG, Mercedes Lewis JAC, personally I will take Vernon Davis but we all know that this will never happen, so i have to go with Zach Miller or Kevin Boss this te are young, athletic, can block, can catch, so they are really a TEs. So finally we will have a starter TE.

Last the linebacker position is weak too.... So go for David Harris the jets Linebacker, and is clearly one of the best ILB, this is going to cost us a lot, but comon, we sign takeo spikes, years ago, so i dream with this sign, and maybe david could be angry, because, mangold and revis will be rich with the jets, and cannot afford the all of three stars....

    Next the draft

1- Nick Fairley DE, Fairley has been unstoppable. He completely dominated Alabama's offensive line on Thanksgiving weekend. His stock has risen to the point that it'd be shocking if he fell out of the top five, this guy is a BEAST

2- Joseph Barksdale OT LSU, this guy can compete with Bell, since his rookie year, this man is a stud, if hes not there, give me the next best OT, Sherrod, Morris, Raynolds, whatever slide to our second round.

3- Steven Friday OLB VT, he can rush the passer, he can drop in coverage, he can do all i want for a LB, so if he´s not there probably justin houston OLB or Quan Sturdivant ILB maybe the best ILB of this draft class.

4a-kendrick Ellis NT HAMPTON, 340 lbs, he has all the physical talent, but has some work ethic concerns, this is why he´ll not going to be a 2nd or 3rd round, if he is not available, maybe Phil Taylor another NT of Baylor with his weight 355 lbs. nobody can move this wall....

4b-Jalil Brown CB Colorado, he is a sleeper in this draft, but this guy can play, trust me, if hes not there, there are other corners like kendrick burney CB NC, Davon House CB New Mexico.

5- Jeron Johnson SS Boise State, takes very solid angles and has a high football IQ. He's instinctive and is reliable in run support.

6- Derek Epperson P Baylor, has a massive leg, and moorman is playing poorly this season, and this guy can be in the practice squad if moorman is back on track the next season, and we will have the best punter on draft, and one good enough to the future.

7- Owen Marecic FB Stanford, one of the tougher players in college, one of the best fb in this draft.

THE OFFENSE WILL LOOK LIKE THIS

    POS STARTER BENCH

    QB RYAN FITZPATRICK BROHM, BROWN

RB FRED JACKSON CJ SPILLER, MARECIC

    FB MCYNTIRE MARECIC

WR LEE EVANS D. NELSON, D. JONES

WR STEVIE JOHNSON M. EASLY, PARRISH

    TE ZACK MILLER S. NELSON

    LT BELL BARKSDALE

    LG LEVITRE WANG

    C WOODS HANGARTNER

    RG URBIK

    RT GAITHER WROTTO

THE DEFENSE WILL LOOK LIKE THIS

    LE KYLE WILLIAMS CARRINGTON

    NT KENDRICK ELLIS TROUP

    RE NICK FAIRLEY D. EDWARDS

    OLB MOATS MAYBIN

    ILB POZ

    ILB HARRIS A. DAVIS

    OLB FRIDAY BATTEN

    CB MCKELVIN JALIL BROWN

    CB MCGEE FLORENCE, CORNER

    FS BYRD WILSON

    SS WHITNER JERON JOHNSON, SCOTT

    P MOORMAN EPPERSON (FUTURE STARTER)

    K LINDELL

I THINK WE HAVE A REAL SHOT TO THE PLAYOFFS WHIT THIS TEAM....

And of course i will not take any qb in middle rounds.

    what do you think guys?????

    like it or not...........

Not bad, ofcourse we have to assume the free agents are not resigned by there own teams first, and second that they will come to Buffalo, I can defently see kevin Boss coming here, however I don't see the G-Men letting him walk.

Also In the 2nd round you take an OT, then you have him sitting on the bench.. I like to Gaither signing for RT, but Bell is playing well, I say Draft a LB in second round and Third round, then OT for depth..
