From what I recall the issue for years was that Cookie wanted to be paid to come back and be in the Wall ceremony, and that ticked Ralph off. Plus Cookie despite his talent was a pain to deal with in his playing years, and Lou finally had a fit and got rid of him.
God to see he'll be on the Wall. He certainly is one of the best to have played in a Bills uni.
He most certainly will see it. Hopefully Cookie is up there with him and not somewhere else.

First, there's no evidence Russ has any power in the football side. Going to meetings isn't power. And having your remarks printed isn't either and that's all we know ... that he went to meetings and had some reactions reported.
Second, the quotation isn't bad at all. There's no particular reason to think that he meant that you have no expectations about the positions. He could easily have meant that you don't have any pre-suppositions about the candidates and you let what they say make your decisions about how good their interviews were.
And I agree with the guy who said the timing of this post is strange.
If Russ does have power on the football side I would totally agree that that would be awful, but I don't see any evidence.
Agreed but you're assuming the OP is interested in evidence...or even logic. Neither of those appear to be involved in his/her arguments. Mainly positing opinions as facts and then quoting his/her Ravens fan buddy as an expert!

I first had this conversation over the summer with a friend of mine (before training camp started). While talking with another Bills fan last night at the Ravens stadium, I mentioned this to him and he agreed that Ralph set the Bills back by being an absentee owner.
So Pegula is a meddling owner who won't hire a professional to run the team and Ralph was an absentee owner who sat back and let professionals run the team.

Bad pre-season game and the Pegula bashers coming out I can understand. But Ralph Wilson bashing for stuff he did 15 years ago? Give me a break.

Losing Knox was just horrible.
Revisionist history here. Knox was competent but so painfully conservative his teams could never win a championship, before, during, or after his Bills tenure. Never made the Super Bowl in 22 years of head coaching and had a 7-11 post season record.
Solid guy but after 5 seasons it was time to move on. (Of course it did get worse until Marv came onboard).

Because he sucks as a QB. I don't care he is a great guy, works hard, comes in first, leaves last blah blah blah. Bottom line, he isn't a good QB. He is nothing more than "Rudy". Loveable guy you want to root for, but just isn't good.
Way past time to get a Real QB in here. BTW this is TT's 7th year? Goff is just starting his 2nd and can all ready do this...
Goff was arguably the worst QB in the NFL last year. We'll see how he looks when the games count and the assessment comes from performance and results, not a teammate blowin' smoke.

At their peak, I'd go with Moss, Rice, Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson, Michael Irvin, and Reggie Wayne. I remember seeing some great receivers in the late 70's as well but frankly I was too young to appreciate it and can't really compare to the more 'modern' era. I mean guys like Largent, Biletnikoff, etc.

This is the hot head who picks up half a dozen 15 yard penalties a year because he can't control his behavior under emotional stress. I'm not surprised at this behavior in practice.

This is so simple.......... The league know we have a novice at GM and they are taking advantage of him. This front office is a joke and I see the problem is the Pelugas everyone they wanted turns out to be straight garbage..... Starting with sexy rex.....Hue Jackson thought he had the job before Peluga picked Rex.....who by himself destroyed a top three defense...........Now Jorden Matthew is hurt ........it wont be too long before the rest of our talent get plucked away. The league see our gm/coaching team don't have a clue
Insightful stuff here!

So who, exactly, was ignoring Mack? He was on everyone's radar, especially going into his senior year. Then he won multiple awards and was a top 5 pick.
The OP ignored him.

A buddy and I were driving back to Western NY from a wedding in Virginia. He was an Eagles fan and most people won't recall, but the Eagles played the Saints in the afternoon game that day. So we agreed he'd drive while the Bills were on the radio, and I'd drive while the Eagles played.
After the early 3rd quarter TD by Houston put them up 31-3 (I think?) I disgustedly turned off the radio and we stopped to get gas. After we filled up, I told him I might as well start driving since the Bills game was effectively over. After a while, I couldn't stand it any more and turned the radio back on. I heard the crowd roaring and Van Miller say that Reich was dropping back to pass and "Touchdown!" (I can't recall if it was Reed or maybe Beebe) but anyway it was like 31-17 now so I left the radio on.
As the game wound down and Norwood lined up to kick the eventual game winner I found myself almost unable to drive and had slowed down to 20 mph on the interstate. My friend told me to pull over before we got killed. I pulled to a stop along the side of the highway as the kick went through the uprights and Van made his call. I got out of the car and ran around it a few times to let off some energy.
Interestingly, and somewhat forgotten to history, the Eagles made a great two touchdown 4th quarter comeback in the second game to win as well, making both of us quite happy that day.

Southern states = Those that were in the Confederacy. North Carolina is definitely southern.
Borderline states are those with slavery but still in the Union. Missouri, Maryland, Kentucky.
It was 150 years ago but still relevant today.
Not in any way making this racial, just the history of the country.

Nice!
We have Vancouver in town Friday October 20th before the Bucs game
The Sharks on Saturday Saturday the 28th before the Raiders- Awesome for me as a California guy.
Florida on Friday November 10th before the Saints game.
Penguins on Friday December 1 before the Pats game.
Carolina on Friday December 15th before the Fins game.
Good slate! Hopefully some overlap before our home playoff game too, lol.
This is great for out of town fans..who want to travel and see the teams......but, I smell a rat from the point of view of Bills fans....who deserve two home games in each season month..Sep-Dec. I am wondering if the Pegs are influenceing the NFL scheduling to setup these date matchups. And thus backloading the bills home games into the end of the season. i have long criticized the backloading of the Bills schedule into the Nov-Dec timeframe, when its cold outside. More than four games in that time period means that, once agian, the Bilsl games season ticket holders got hosed. This schedule matchup is way more than in prior years, and is the basis of my gut feel on this issue. Of course, the Sabres schedule could also be influenced here.......still, to many years of backloading Bills games into the cold weatrher months. (One of the reasons I dropped my season tickets this year)

What were the three playoff years?
1980, 81 and 82?
I know they lost to SD like 20-14 with Ferguson hurt. They beat the Jets in a wildcard game then lost. Don't remember the other year.
80, 81, and 75 (maybe 74?) with OJ

Great post. The #BillsMafia types are generally younger guys (although I am as well) who grew up with losing teams. Losing is what they are accustomed to. They don't care one bit about wins and losses. They just want to get drunk, and be part of the NFL experience on Sunday.
Devoted fans like many of us here have stood by the team despite our constant disappointment. First and foremost I'm a Bills fan, but honestly the last 16 years haven't provided all that many good times. We just happen to be in relationship that we are too devoted to quit.
This sums it up for me.

Cheap?
Or "Charity". Like the Billion dollars he left to Detroit and Buffalo.

Mike Dennis
What team was Ralph Wilson a partial owner of prior to founding the Bills?

Stevie Johnson. Laugh all you want, he's one of the better WRs in Bills history considering who his QB was.
Not laughing!
But Moulds would come first.

Butch Byrd!! Before anybody else
Yeah. He'd be the only one I would even consider but in the end, I have to say no. Butch Byrd please.[/quoteThis message board is a joke. The so called fans think the history goes back 10 yrs
A punter on the wall you guys are a joke
Moorman was a football player.Top punter, ran it, threw it, made tackles, was excellent holder for long snaps.
Yeah and I'm an old guy who saw OJ play. Butch Byrd was before my time but his stats would certainly indicate Wall status. I would think Gilchrist too.
The OP subject line was "Bills of late" which I read as last 10-15 years. So maybe the fans on the board aren't a joke, they just have better reading comprehension than you.

First off, I am in no way comparing any of the players, or their circumstances, we're discussing with Bob Kalsu. But the reason I mention him is that clearly he is not on the Wall in recognition of his playing career, and no one has any issue with him being up there (well, maybe somebody does but I'm not arguing about that). The point is, contributions and considerations outside the playing field, such as team leadership on the sidelines or practice field, or the community in the form of their time and focus, are valid points to consider in putting someone on the Wall.
Hence my vote for Freddie and Moorman as they contributed on the field for an extended period of time but also off the field both in the locker room and in the community.

Please don't interrupt the narrative with data.

Bringing in an active alcoholic, which is apparently the case (based on a basic web search it at least appears that way) is a mistake for both the team and the person. Assuming this is the case he needs to get his life together before taking on another high pressure job and this is exactly the sort of anarchy Pegula should be avoiding.
is jonathan williams next? - update: now cut

He's in line for 10 carries per game this season with a healthy McCoy and will be the starter if Shady goes down.
It's called the 4th pre-season game...they don't play people they need for the regular season unless required or strongly desired.
